Back in August, my friend Jennifer in Denver invited me to zoom with her book club, a group of women who had read The Synchronicity Highway. During the meeting, there was some discussion about a dog named Luna who had gone missing and Jennifer’s friend, Barb, had been looking for the dog in her neighborhood. That name kept cropping up and Barb was curious about whether it was a synchro.

In a follow up email, I mentioned that Luna meant moon in Spanish and that Barb should pay attention to the next new and full moons on 9/2 and 9/17 respectively. Turned out that 217 is a number that has appeared repeatedly into her life and may be an instance of spirit communication with her deceased mother.

Here’s Barb’s rendition of the importance of 217 in her life:

217 was my mother’s lucky number & aqua was her favorite color.  She was the leader of Girl Scout Troop 217 for 17 years & loved it.  Whenever buying lottery tickets she would always play those 3 numbers in any combinations & though she never hit the biggest win she did manage to win over $300 which she used to buy her first & only airplane ticket for a visit to Colorado.  After she passed away, the number 217 kept keeps appearing in my life or I’m just more aware of that number now & also the color aqua hit me straight in the face once.

Shortly after her death on a business trip to hospitals in Montana, I was driving around a bend & first saw Flathead Lake near Polson, Montana.  It was the most striking color of clear blue/green water that I have ever seen. While reading the local newspaper the next day it mentioned the exceptional color of the water the day before & described the color as AQUA (1st Synchro).

During my trips to hospitals in several states, I was staying at a hotel which put me in their Room 217.  (2nd Synchro).

One weekend I drove to Estes Park, CO & stopped at the Stanley Hotel gift shop.  I was so surprised to see mugs, key chains, door plates, glasses etc. with the number 217 on them (3rd Synchro).  Turns out that Room 217 is the haunted room in Steven King’s book The Shining & the mini series was filmed at The Stanley Hotel. I had seen that movie several times but never paid attention to the actual haunted Room 217 until being in that gift shop shortly after my mom’s passing.  I purchased a few beer mugs, key chains & door plates. Our guest bedroom has my mom’s furniture from the 1950s & the door has a door plate that says The Stanley Hotel 217.  The gift shop also had a room plate with Overlook Hotel 217 (the hotel that Steven King named in The Shining) which I purchased. Also a key to our house on a Room 217 key chain is always handed to company staying with us.

A few years BEFORE my mom passed away a childhood friend from grade school that I still keep in touch with called me after the 4th of July in  2001 saying that she thought my mom’s picture was in the Canton, Ohio Repository newspaper from the year  1963. She sent me the clipping. Sure enough, it was my mom proudly marching with her Girl Scout Troop 217 during a 4th of July parade on September 17, 1963 ( 9/17).  So this is the most bizarre Synchro from Trish’s dates in your email.  The  9/17 date she said to pay attention to is the same date as the picture of the 4th of July parade only it was in another year (1963).

Going back in time again, after showing my mom her picture in the paper in 2001 (a few years before her passing), she wanted to make a visit to the Girl Scout Headquarters in Canton for a tour & to donate her memorabilia. So the number 217 helped us to bond & forgive in the end & still seems to creep into my life today.  What does it mean?  I have no idea…

Sometimes now when I wake up at night around two in the morning even though the clock may not say exactly 2:17 I might just lie awake until it does read 2:17 a.m. before closing my eyes again…

After this Pandemic is over, welcoming guests to Room 217 at our home in Colorado can resume!

The Law of Opposites

“In the absence of that which you are not, that which you are is not.”

When Neale Donald Walsch wrote that sentence, he had no idea what it meant. He was channeling inspired wisdom and knowledge that would become a series of books called, Conversations with God, the first one published in 1995. “With that sentence…I was introduced to the Law of Opposites,” Walsch wrote in a blog post on the Beliefnet.com. “I didn’t understand what was meant by that sentence when I first saw it come off my pen and most people with whom I have shared this wisdom do not ‘get it’ the first time they hear it.”

Once Walsch understood the meaning of the sentence, he realized that it was tremendously powerful. In his blog post entitled, The Law of Opposites, he calls it one the most illuminating statements in all the material that he gathered. “The sentence means that we live in a world of relativity. Everything here is experienced relative to something else, and when there is no ‘something else,’ there is no ability to experience what is being experienced.”

With that, it seems that God has answered the question of why there is evil in the world. Without it, we could not experience good.

Here’s God’s “voice” speaking in Walsch’s first book in the series, as he addresses the importance of opposites: “All human actions are motivated at their deepest level by one of two emotions—fear or love. In truth there are only two emotions—only two words in the language of the soul. These are the opposite ends of the great polarity which I created when I produced the universe, and your world, as you know it today.”

Whether or not you believe that is really God’s voice speaking through Walsch doesn’t matter. What does matter is the message and it rings true. It’s also a message that writers and poets have written about over the centuries.

The famous 13th century poet Rumi seems to have tuned into the same insight in this refrain from a poem called Necessary Opposites.

God created suffering and heartache,

so that joy might be revealed by its opposite.

Hence, hidden things are manifest by their opposite

But since God has no opposite, He remains hidden.

Lies, Hoaxes, More LIes

Feb 29: A HOAX!

Yet, several weeks earlier in February, on Feb 7, in a recorded conversation with Bob Woodward, trump talked about the virus. “This stuff is deadly. I play it down, I like playing it down, I don’t want people to panic.”

So he played it down, all right. Said it would be gone like magic. Gone in April (when cases in the U.S. were spiking). Gone with the hot weather. Children are practically immune (more than half a million children have been infected). No masks, no social distancing. You all have seen the same news I have.

Bottom line: Today, September 9, about 7 months after trump’s conversation with Woodward, after repeated lies to the American people about the virus,there are more than 191,000 Americans dead of COVID. The  U.S. has nearly six and a half million cases, the highest in the world.

Some hoax.

We’re on the road to 200,000 Americans dead of COVID because donald trump lied about the severity of the virus. Instead of taking action to contain it, he created absolute chaos around every facet of the pandemic.

More Numbers from Holly

My numerologist friend, Holly Granquist, who also reads tarot, sent me another numerology/tarot report thing evening. I don’t know much about numerology, except that numbers often appear in cluster synchronicities, but I do know about the tarot.

From Holly:

First according to the numbers, Joe Biden is going to be the lawful winner of the 2020 presidential election.  But, there will be a terrible fight to stop him from being installed. Many of us, I know, are expecting this. I also read Tarot and this is what came up this morning after I had listened to your Alex Miller podcast. The greater the intensity of my focus, the clearer the reading is.

TRUMP: represented by 9 of Cups, 45/9 president, a lonely man. Mr. money bags.

BIDEN: 6 of Wands, A man who is wearing a wreath of victory around his head: success, winning, triumph. He is on a grand horse walking into the future.

JUDGMENT CARD: Judgement card – The 2020 election

4 CUPS REVERSED:    The days following election day will signal a time for Americans to snap out of the collective miasma they have been encapsulated in due to the political race.

5 SWORDS: Sadly this card appears next, and this signals the war the far right will bring into play.  It will be quite terrible and some people are going to  get hurt.

Now for the numberS. INAUGURATION DAY – January 20, 2021 = 8, at 9 am = 17.8.   Joe Biden’s second core number is 17.8  if he does not use the Jr. in his birth name.
If he uses Jr., his second core number becomes 18.9 which matches the election day number – 11/3/2020.  11 is a master number and so I have not reduced it..  Joe Biden’s first core number is 11/2. Joe Biden is in a 17.8 personal year, moving into a 18.9 personal year. JOE BIDEN WINS THE ELECTION.

Trump is currently in a 15.6 personal year.  For a human being who puts his trust in money above all else, he is in a bad place.

When the numbers from the Tarot cards add up, the number is 18.9 ,  Joe Biden’s 2nd core number, the election day number, and the inauguration day number. The dye is set.

The Cat from Outer Space

At some point in the early 1980s, I taught English as a foreign language (ESOL) in the Broward County night school program. Jennifer, who taught in the classroom next to mine, came in during break that first evening to introduce herself. She remembers that I was sitting at my desk, reading The Cat from Outer Space.

I don’t remember reading this book, but the fact that I love cats and reading quirky books, and anything about outer space, it makes sense. This book by Ted Key later became a movie of the same name.

After Jennifer left Florida, we kept in touch sporadically. She eventually ended up in Colorado, working for the NSA.

In 2018, our daughter, Megan, and a friend went to Denver and met Jennifer for lunch and a tour of the botanical gardens. Megan’s friend was wearing a tank top with an emblem across the front that read, Cats from Outer Space. The synchronicity spans nearly 40 years. What are the odds?

Today, I zoomed with Jennifer’s book club about The Synchronicity Highway, which came out in  and this cat from outer space synchro came up. Of the 10 women in the book clubs, only one didn’t work for the NSA. What I find particularly invigorating about this group is that they work for the same organization that Edward Snowden did.

They know stuff and aren’t allowed to talk about it. They, like the black women in the early days of the space program – the hidden figures – have a certain power as a group. And most of them acknowledge that synchronicity is a part of their lives.

I like that. A lot.

#137 & Wolfgang Pauli…again

We’ve written about the #137 and Wolfgang Pauli previously, but now we have a somewhat disconcerting update.

This comes from the dog park, where we met a recent graduate of Virginia Tech who has a degree in physics. Trish and I know know nothing about the math side of physics, but we can talk generally about the mysterious nature of quantum physics. We tried the #137 on the new grad and it was surprisingly meaningless to him. He also didn’t seem to recognize Pauli’s name F. David Peat, another physicist now better known for his exploration of synchronicity.  I guess we’re doing woo-woo physics!

In case our new friend sees this post, here’s a better explanation of Pauli and 137.

Wolfgang Pauli, a physicist, won a Nobel in 1945 for his exclusion principle. He was an early supporter of Jung’s theory on synchronicity and investigated the phenomenon as well. He had a rather striking experience with a set of numbers that lasted for most of his adult life.

Pauli was confounded by one of the unsolved mysteries of modern physics, the value of the fine structure constant, which involves the number 137. “The fine structure constant is one of those numbers at the very root of the universe and of all matter,” writes Arthur I Miller in Deciphering the Cosmic Number: The Strange Friendship of Wolfgang Pauli and Carl Jung. “If it were different, nothing would be as it is.” As Miller explains in his fascinating book, 137 is not only the “DNA of light” but also the “sum of the Hebrew letters of the word ‘Kabbalah.’ The fine structure constant turns out to be exquisitely tuned to allow life as we know it to exist on our planet.”

Heady stuff, even to non-scientists. 137 is a prime number—a number that can be divided by 1 and by itself. Or, put another way, a prime number is a positive integer that cannot equal the product of two smaller integers. The number became so puzzling to physicists that the famed Richard Feynman, who won the Nobel Prize in 1965 for his contributions to the development of quantum electrodynamics, said that physicists should put a sign in their offices to remind themselves of how much they don’t know. The sign would be simple: 137.

In 1934, Pauli began discussing his ideas publicly about 137 and Miller speculates that it might have been due to the effect of Jung’s analysis “opening his mind to mystical speculation.”

As physicist and author F. David Peats explained, “…while the other fundamental constants of nature are all immensely small or enormously large, this fine structure constant 1/137 turns out to be a human-sized number. This number…and its place in the scale of the universe particularly puzzled Pauli.”

It’s always interesting the people we meet in the dog park. But the odd thing is, in this instance and others, I often remember the dog’s name, but not the person. The young        V. Tech grad’s dog was called Fabor. Not sure why he gave the dog that name, but here’s what Fabor means in the Urban Dicitionary.

Fabor is an acronym, which stand for “fuck a box of rocks.” It’s something you say to those who are holier-than-thou and never, ever wrong – and also have time on their hands to criticize anything that inconveniences them. As in:
“Know what? Go FABOR.”
Hm, maybe he wasn’t talking about the dog when I asked it’s name!

Astrology as Synchronicity and Election Day 2020

Today, Rob glanced at the most recent post on our blog and said, “Okay, another astrology post. I need to come up with a real synchronicity.”

My reaction was visceral. “Talk to Jung, Rob.”

In 1949, Jung wrote the introduction to Richard Wilhelm’s translation of The I Ching or the Chinese Book of Changes, the ultimate divination system. Jung also studied astrology – and in his time, there weren’t any apps, astrological charts were erected by hand, with math. He determined certain astrological factors in ideal marriages and romantic partnerships.

In Jung’s Red Book – which he referred to as his confrontation with his personal unconscious – references to myths and archetypes permeate the material. The same myths and archetypes exist in astrology. The astrological natures of the planets, in fact, are based on myth. Hermes – Mercury- was the messenger, Mars was the warrior, Pluto was god of the underworld. Aphrodite – Venus – was the lover, Jupiter was Zeus, the king of kings. In mythology, Saturn was Cronus, the dude who devoured his own children. In astrology that planet may feel like a carnivore because it restricts, squashes, reigns in that natural thrust we human feel for personal freedom. But without Saturn, which also governs structure and physical reality, we wouldn’t exist.

In taking a look at some of this year’s astrological data, here’s something to think about. On November 7, 2000 Mercury had been retrograde since mid-October – first in Scorpio, then it slipped back into Libra and at 9:20 p.m., it turned direct in that sign. When Mercury stations – which means it’s about to turn retrograde or direct – the potential for miscommunication is strong. But for that date, the station caused bedlam because it was election day in the U.S.

Astrologers were predicting chaos and, sure enough, at 7:49 p.m., NBC decided they had enough data from exit polls in Florida and Tom Brokaw called the state for Al Gore. With Florida’s 25 electoral votes, it meant he had won the election.

However, shortly after 10 p.m. – less than an hour after Mercury had turned direct – Brokaw backtracked and said that George W. Bush had won the state and the election. We all know what ensued after that – the endless dispute over the chads on Palm Beach County’s ballot and the eventual decision by the Supreme Court that Bush was the 43rd president of the U.S.

We have another astrological repeat coming up on November 3, 2020. Mercury will be stationary once again in Libra. The difference this time, though, is that it’s about to turn direct – 12:50 PM ET and 9:50 AM PT. In addition, Mercury will be squaring (90 degree angle, challenging) Pluto, Saturn, and Jupiter. The first square indicates schemes, extreme tactics. The second square suggests the possibility of communication difficulties, rigid thinking, the status quo. The third one, Mercury square Jupiter, suggests wild exaggerations, errors in judgment, big mess with no clear winner.

Sound familiar?

“Karen”

By now, the “Karen” meme has been documented in numerous viral videos of white women ranting at a man or woman who is a different race. When I first saw one of these, I thought, Is this real?

Apparently, it is. White women who think they’re entitled to… well, something…make spectacles of themselves in public places, demanding one thing or another. They seem to come from anywhere and everywhere, are usually either enraged or indignant – or both – and use some form of the word fuck frequently in the brief video clips.

Sometimes, these “Karens” are referred to as middle-aged white suburban women. I think of them as white female lunatics with big mouths who are often racist – you’re not white like me, you speak a language other than English and are therefore suspect, you’re an immigrant etc. etc. They often threaten to call the cops, like this woman in Central Park.

When this video went viral, she was fired from her job and her dog was taken away from her. You’ll see why on both counts.

So I’ve seen a number of these viral videos and I wonder several things. “Karen” reminds me of the obnoxious woman in a restaurant who demands a refund for her awful dinner (even though her plate is clean) or the white woman wherever who demands to :speak to the manager. But the archetype is strengthening, getting bolder and more prevalent. Why?

Here’s one explanation of the meme.

In this rapidly shifting world right now, the pandemic and general chaos of social unrest and politics seem to be exposing the dark underbellies of who we are as a country, a nation, a world – a humanity – and the picture is sordid. It’s easy for me to dismiss these women as trump supporters (especially the anti-mask women), but that’s too facile. There are undoubtedly democrats and independents in their numbers, too, as well as women who aren’t political at all but who just feel, well, entitled.

And that brings us back to the central question: Why? Why do these white women act like nut cases? What triggers them, sets them off? When I go down that path, I invariably run into an important question: Hey, didn’t your parents teach you how to behave? Were you always the neighborhood bully, the neighborhood blabber mouth, the obnoxious outlier? What made you feel entitled, bitch?
