We’ve all probably heard someone say that he or she doesn’t believe in coincidences. Every time I hear that I find it annoying because it’s a stupid comment.
I just heard it again recently when Jeremy Bash, a former CIA chief of staff, was asked about the Russians hacking the Democratic National Committee’s e-mail a day after Donald Trump said, “Russia, if you are listening, find Hillary Clinton’s missing 30,000 e-mails.” Bash responded, “I don’t believe in coincidences.”
What he’s saying is that what might appear to some as a coincidence of events was really a matter of cause and effect. But does that mean Bash thinks there is no such thing as coincidence? That’s a good question, and I think if he would really think about it, he would concede that there is indeed such a thing as coincidence.
For example, the same day Bash made that comment Trump spoke to the press to clarify his comments in Helsinki that appeared to favor Putin’s words over that of all the U.S. intelligence agencies. During his comments, which he read from a prepared statement, the lights suddenly went out for a few seconds, causing Trump to stop reading his text. An interesting coincidence…unless someone intentionally turned off the lights. But no one did. There was a powerful thunderstorm taking place in Washington D.C. while Trump spoke and the storm caused the temporary blackout.
If Bash really believes that there are no coincidences, then he would see the blackout as a random event and would overlook the interesting coincidence. Lights out, Trump! That was another lie! Meanwhile, many of us would consider it meaningful coincidence or synchronicity.
But I suspect that Bash has a sense of humor and probably found the blackout a humorous coincidence. Nature strikes at an appropriate moment.
Those who say: “I don’t believe in coincidence,” might turn to a more accurate commentary say: “I don’t believe that was a coincidence.” So the next time you hear someone say they don’t believe in coincidence, you might send them this little ditty. Maybe he or she will realize that the comment really doesn’t make any sense.
In addition to being a Physician of Chinese Medicine, Scott is a licensed Acupuncture Physician, (on call to several large medical facilities in Jacksonville), is one of less than a dozen Golden Shield Masters in America, has earned several other licenses and certifications in several areas of alternative modalities. He writes them in a circle, similar to an astrological chart but not related. In CO he owned a sensory deprivation chamber and somehow improved on its efficiency. Energy and electricity are his focus, and he actually DOES create new concepts there. He has an extremely high working knowledge of the UFO phenomena. Regarding his physical appearance, Scott is the most beautiful man I have ever seen. It has been a blessing and a curse for him, because his beauty attracts gay men…that’s the curse….and gorgeous women…that’s the blessing. He is 6’2″ tall, black hair, shattered crystal blue-gray eyes that are visible across across a room. It’s difficult to not stare at him. In one of our phone conversations he asked me how to prevent the approaches of gay men, (he isn’t homophobic, though, just 100% straight), and I suggested he tell such a person “thank you. I’m flattered, but I’m straight”. He began to do that, and it worked. When he moved to CO, he had an image in his mind of his soulmate. He wrote a description of her down, I wrote a description of her down, we compared the notes, they were identical. He sensed she was in CO or Wyoming, but she never manifested. I continue to sense she will come into his life. Kind of different….as handsome as he is, he hasn’t dated much through the decades because he’s waiting for her and and says he sees no point in wasting time and energy on casual dating. Also because of his work. There was a photo of Tesla in a book at B&N that looked like Scott at a certain age, except Tesla never had the beauty. Strange, strange situation.
There’s a young man in my life who refers to me as his ‘mentor and teacher’, although I have never nor will I ever refer to myself as a mentor. Scott began to study with me when he was 23, attending his final year at U of FL. He is now 49. After graduating from U of FL, he re-located to CO to study and has become, among other things, a physician of Chinese Medicine. Also during the lengthy interim we continued our work together via computer and phone, etc.He moved back here recently to assist his Mother through the illness and approaching transition of his stepfather. Scott is a genuine Tesla scholar. He knows everything there is to know (available) about him; totally understands Tesla’s work; he even strongly resembles Tesla. I have a niggling theory that 1) Tesla has been Scott’s Guide since he was born, or 2) Scott is the reincarnation of Tesla. I lean more toward #2. He is far past brilliant, a genius well beyond my ability to comprehend a great deal that he knows. This is an interesting post, MacGregors. THANKS!

Once upon a time I might have agreed that coincidences are random, but no more. Your books have helped me understand the phenomenon much better. I am fascinated by Adele’s comment about Tesla! 🙂

How did you learn the brief blackout was undeniably caused by a storm and not by other cause?

One of my cousins who became a fighter pilot, a Top-Gunner x 3, and a commercial pilot was born on the day the sound barrier was broken.

One interesting coincidence that intrigues me is the known fact that Nikola Tesla was born around midnight during a raging thunder and lightning storm. July 10, 1856. Tesla spent his life studying and inventing everything to do with electricity.
