We’ve written often here about signs and symbols as synchronicities, often related to contact with the dead. These events can happen to anyone, and of course it helps if you’re open to the possibilities and aware of signs and symbols that might appear. They could be objects such as a white feather fluttering down in front of you as you discuss a member of a deceased loved one.
Often times they are animals, such as the sudden and unexpected appearance of a cardinal, which reminds the person of a deceased loved one who was fascinated by cardinals and collected images and objects. Now we have a story that from the Sunday Times of London on September 3 of this year about Paul McCartney, who is convinced his deceased first wife Linda appeared to him as a white squirrel.
At the time, McCartney and a friend were indulging in an hallucinogenic drug, DMT (dimethyltryptamine). Not a requirement for signs and symbols to appear! McCartney also said that during his trip he momentarily glimpsed God, who appeared as a massive wall. McCartney talked about his visions in this article.
He noted that it’s easy to dismiss his visions as drug-induced fantasies, but he added that he and gallery owner Robert Fraser shared the visions. McCartney didn’t give a date for the experience, but it was sometime after the death of his wife in 1998.
Said McCartney of the white squirrel: “Obviously, I have no proof it was her at all, but it was good for me to think that. There’s part of you that wants to believe it. So I like to allow myself to think that happens.”
Hi Paul…
It’s been my understanding for decades that our Souls can choose to inhabit whatever it chooses to inhabit. There are schools of thought in metaphysics that teach there’s no such thing as ‘transmigration’….a soul animating anything other than a corporal human body. I don’t accept this because I’ve witnessed too many instances that I would swear are Souls expressing in animals and other hosts. My black Labrador, Storm, has a human Soul. I KNOW this as surely as I’m sitting here. She is a canine, yes, but she has a human mind, and there is too much proof as we share our lives with her that she is a human who is here with me for specific reasons, and she’s entirely too intelligent, has an enormous human vocabulary that she hasn’t been ‘taught’, and even has a manner of canine ‘speech’ that is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced with previous four-footed furry entities. What a special gift for Paul! A white squirrel! YES!
I agree with you, CJ. I also feel that sometimes a soul may choose to inhabit the body of a pet in the home of loved ones after passing. We’ve had some experiences with pets where the soul of a pet that has passed has been reborn as a different species – dog to bird, for instance – to be with the people left behind. We really don’t have a clue about the matrix of reality.
I think fragments of souls can choose lives in animals, but the soul exists elsewhere as well…as all souls do!
“Behold a Frail Horse”….
I am somewhat convinced that my cat is my deceased grandmother. The day my grandmother died, this cat showed up at my front door, scratched at the door until I opened it, then waltzed in like she owned the place. She curled up in front of the fireplace, and has been here ever since. She shares a number of personality traits with my grandmother, and even has a streak of jet-black fur in an otherwise grey coat – my grandmother was a Bengali Brahmin from northeast India, with (in her younger years) the jet-black hair you would expect in someone of her heritage. From the time I can remember, her hair was all grey, except for a streak of jet-black that extended from her forehead all the way back. She called it her mahlidashi kaipsu , which loosely translates to “source of power”.
I swear I see her wisdom in this cat’s eyes.
Why not? I’ve heard a lot of stories like this. This one is particularly telling, what with the cat showing up the day she died. In one of the Seth books by Jane Roberts, I can’t recall which one, Seth talks about this.
Intellectually I know she can’t be, at least not by my understanding of reincarnation – the cat was at least a few years old when she arrived at my door, so she was born before my grandmother died. But still…
This single event is what sparked my belief in the supernatural world, and I’ve been on a journey ever since to understand it.
In the Seth book, he mentions spending a brief time in a dog, just to experience what it would be like. I’ll try to find which Seth book that was in.
Oh, I love the idea that Linda is a white squirrel. I’m not sure why it makes me feel so good inside, but thanks so much for sharing this. I didn’t know it. 🙂
That was my reaction, too!
