Truth or Consequences

Remember that old show Truth or Consequences? I think of that every time I hear a blaring horn that announces what trump has just said as UNTRUE.

“We’re rounding the curve…” he says about the corona virus.

Honk. Not at all.

In the last two days – Oct 19-20, the U.S. has recorded 119,599 cases of the virus. Between 900- 1,000 Americans die daily. We have the highest number of cases in the world and more than 225,000 deaths, more than any other country in the world. No question that trump has failed the country in containing this virus. It’s why he’s attacking Fauci, embraces QAnon and any other right wing extremist group that supports him.

The mishandling of the pandemic and the economic fallout and the way we are now viewed by the rest of the world are trump’s fault. What we have in this president is a guy pretending to be president, a dude who seizes a photo op in front of a church, holding a Bible upside down. A morbidly obese man, recently released from Walter Reed where he underwent experimental treatment for Covid, is perched at the top of a staircase and dramatically removes his mask to show how Superman overcomes Covid. And he’s struggling for breath.

Trump is a sham. The powerless wizard behind the curtain in Oz. But he’s also the personification of the collective American psyche where racism and misogyny flourish. What can we learn from this? From him?

Well, one thing we can learn: VOTE BLUE.

I don’t think he ever had Covid. It takes a minimum of two weeks to get over it according to doctors. My family member that had it took two weeks. And he was young. I think it was a sham, intending to make the virus seems less lethal and scary and to make him look strong like “superman.”

We voted blue!!! Everyone in our family sent in registered absentee ballots electing Biden / Harris! Now let’s restore America to the proud and honorable democracy as it was founded, and bury this shameful, tarnished period in the trash bin of historic failures where 45 belongs. Good riddance!

What can we learn from this? That the most visible symbol of the American psyche is a huge mouth with an insatiable appetite for food that should be going to feed actual hunger. It is morally bankrupt and bloated with money that isn’t only American. It would be redundant to say that the mouth is incapable of empathy and lies a lot.

Someone should paint a picture of American crude that you could use as a graphic. The one you have is far too dapper. The dynamite is obviously fake.
