‘She’s a Mystery to Me’

Here’s a music-related synchronicity related to a song written by Bono/U2. Bono came up with the song in a somewhat mysterious manner – literally dreaming it, then he played it for the band. They said it sounded like a Roy Orbison tune. So while they were working on the song, who shows up at the studio but Orbison, who asks Bono if he has a song for him. The two men had never met.

In the youtube link, Bono and Orbison talk about the creation of the song. Orbison went on to record  the song, “She’s a Mystery to Me,” written by Bono.

Thanks to Marcus Anthony for alerting us to this fascinating synchronicity. Marcus remarked: “The universe is not only stranger than we think, but stranger than we can think. I love this one because it suggests the unconscious–but nonetheless intentional–coming together of minds in an entangled universe.”

I'm reading the paper book. I like it. I'll do a book review when I'm finished, but I think it has some useful activities for connecting to Spirit, and finding the soul's unique purpose.

well, it's taken me some time now to actually do this comment from the time i opened the post – i mean, with bono and roy in the same post with links to their music, it was all i could do to muster my way back here – geeeee…. – now, where was i –

oh, and the synchro was fabulous, too! 😉 i'd not heard it before but what a fantastic story!

Vanessa, yeah, Bono said that he thought Roy was whispering the verses, and was amazed when the song was recorded. The funny thing is that if you listen to Roy's version and then Bono's version, it sounds like Bono is the one whispering the lyrics. Well, not exactly whispering, but…

    Roy, roy, yes!

Many songs and stories seem to arise from dreams. I believe Paul McCartney wrote Yesterday following a dream. Must tune in on the right frequency tonight!

Interesting post, food for thought there.

We do have a section in the book about synchronicity and the information age, Aleksander. The Internet, blogging, all of it serves as an ideal vehicle for synchronicity!

  15. Vanessa says:

I didn't know about that story, but I do love the song. I only recently discovered that Bono wrote it. In the story I saw (on telly) Bono was talking about recording it with Roy, and he had thought it was going to sound bad because Roy was "whispering" the verses. But when he heard the playback, he was amazed at how great and perfect it sounded.

Speaking of synchronicity posts generating another synchronicity – I've given in my blog to this phenomenon the name "turbo synchronicity". You don't have to wait for a scarab or a plum pudding to receive a sign in this interconnected world. The best part of interactivity with internet is that you choose information and don't wait to be fed with it like in cases of TV, radio, or conversation. Even better, you can communicate with like-minded people all around the world. Any plans for mentioning synchronicity in the information age in your book?

Reading about synchronicity brings me so much peace.

    much love

Shadow – Just a moment before I saw your post, a black cat walked by my window. I said to my dog, "Shadow's out there."

The cat's name is Midnight, but I always call him Shadow because he shadows our cat. Another case of synchronicity post generating another synchronicity.

dreams are more than just fanasies at times…
