WTF?

Since trump first announced his candidacy in 2015, I’ve witnessed our country’s growing  tendency to identify with a particular group and information source.

Personally, I’ve realized I just don’t have much to say to trumpies, even those I’ve known for decades. The schism is too huge. It’s isn’t simply about right or left or in between. It’s about values – the importance of something, the principles, the feelings and ideas that guide you. I realize we are individuals and each of us is molded differently.BUT. There should be basics for all of us about things like: What’s  right? What’s wrong?

If we are a government for and about and by the people, if we are the people, is it okay to rob kids of a subsidized or free lunch at school?

Is it okay to deny rights to immigrants who work in the brutal sun harvesting crops? Immigrants who come here seeking what used to be the American dream, have paid taxes and social security and are then rounded up and sent to a Gulag by ICE?

Is it okay that women are denied the right to make the decisions about their own bodies?

Is it okay to disparage everyone who isn’t a white male?

Is it ok to cancel grants to universities that do medical research because they refuse to allow you to dictate how they should be run?

Is it okay that we have one faction of congress so terrified of losing their power that they support a convicted felon who fermented the J6 insurrection, then sat around while offices were pillaged, security guards killed – and has since pardoned those who was convicted?

Is it okay for trump to have VA hospitals deny treatment to vets who are democrats, unmarried or divorced?

I mean, WTF?

So here’s an issue that came up recently. The reason the National Guard didn’t sweep into the capitol on  J6, one person told me, was because Nancy Pelosi stopped them. HUH? I replied. “Pelosi’s office was pillaged, rioters were looking for her.” And I watched it all on TV, like so many other people.

But this person claimed she has the inside scoop on all this.

It’s  one more example of how disinformation becomes fact for people who believe trump is doing great things for this country. These people buy all of trump’s lies, his version of facts, and even if you show them evidence from a reputable source, they claim the source is  biased and incorrect.

They live in a different reality, one shaped and sculpted by fake facts and disinformation. Of course, they say the same thing about those of us who see this administration as incompetent and trump as the grifter and convicted felon that he is.

But hey, millions of Americans turned out on June 14 for the NO KINGS protests. So we aren’t alone.
