Daily, trump looks worse: more orange makeup, heavier bags under his eyes, and apparently more frequent snoozing. His decisions and those of his administration – particularly Hegseth, Bondi, Patel – are more erratic, unbalanced, and well, frankly, just plain weird and unhinged.
Think back to other administrations, right, left, in between, doesn’t matter. Not since Nixon & Clinton with his Lewinsky scandal has any admin been quite this weird and definitely not this inhumane or cruel.
Every time the Epstein files take center stage in the news, trump does something to distract – bombs small boats from Venezuela because they’re supposedly drug runners, investigations into one of his political enemies,impose higher tariffs on some country. Watch how he behaves, ignore what he says because it’s always a lie.
As a fiction writer, my sense of trump is as the prototypical dangerous nutcase who thinks he has all the answers because he has power. But he’s actually tied up in knots because of his plunging approval ratings, his terrible press coverage by everyone except Fox and other right wing media. It makes him feel like the guy in the image to the right in above photo.
I sometimes wonder, though, if he’s the collective aggregate of the our country’s heinous acts – slavery, the KKK, the detention of Japanese in concentration camps, the denial or the vote to minorities and women, etc etc. Our history has many very dark pockets & right now, the Roberts supreme court seems quite content to give trump a lot of power and leeway to expand those dark pockets.
So the bigger question, at least for me, becomes: Are we destined, as a species, to keep repeating the same mistakes? ICE is a clone of Hitler’s SS and trump is using the playbook of countless dictators throughout history, For anyone who can’t recognize that truth, read up on history.
And any women who still support trump at this point? Take a deeper look into yourself as a human being and a woman. What is it that you see in him?
