Keeping track of trump’s daily horrors is exhausting and depressing. So a news piece comes up on Google and I glance at it and move on. In the evening when I’m working, the news is on, but I don’t watch it. When I hear trump’s voice, I mute the TV.

When I wrote my first couple of novels, I was single and worked during the day as a librarian in a juvenile prison facility in Vero Beach, Florida. After work, I went home and started writing. I used to  turn on the TV at night while I worked  on a novel. It was  like white noise.

Now, though, the news at night is nightmare intrusive. It’s  a blatant reminder that we have a convicted felon, grifter and pathological liar as president who has surrounded himself with sycophants as corrupt as he is.

I happened across a substack post tonight, where the author was blasting trump for this war in Iran. The comments that followed were  from maga people, praising trump for this or that and blasting the woman for her post. “Brainwashed left wing. Trump is the best prez ever.”

The brain rot runs deep. I want to think it’s ignorance, but maybe it’s just that ole rabbit hole they went down long ago.
