Jupiter

About two weeks after our beloved Nigel passed away, we started looking for another dog to adopt. Our preference was another Golden Retriever, but we didn’t have any luck in finding one. So I went on Adopt a Pet & started looking. They hold events at Petco on Saturday, so one Saturday we drove to the Petco in Boynton Beach to take a look at pooches.

There were a lot of dogs available for adoption. But a litter of six pups was where we started. Six males, five of them black and white and one of them tan and white. Fargo was his name. Rob picked him up and he was so unbearably adorable that I held him next and we carried him up to the desk to adopt.

He was 10 weeks old, about the age Nigel was when we got him. He weighed just 15 pounds. We have four cats, too, so we had to put up gates to keep Fargo away from the cat food and give the cats a safe place to be. By the second week, Fargo didn’t seem to be responding to his name, so Rob suggested we call him Jupiter. I figured it was an appropriate name – Jupiter is about expansion, luck, synchronicity. & interestingly, he responded to his new name.

Once he’d had his vaxxes, we started taking him to the big dog park, where we took Nigel for nine years. He loves being around other dogs, just wants to play, isn’t aggressive or means. & one afternoon, Rob found this on the ground in front of the bench where he was sitting:

Synchro!

The website is cool!

So on November 5, Jupiter will be five months old. He now weighs nearly 40 pounds and is a bundle of love & fun! & the cats are comfortable enough around him to come and go.

Waiting for dogs to play with!

Orla the Corgie is his favorite playmate at the park.

Jupiter is soooo cute. He reminds me of Snickers when we first got him.
