Don’t Shut Up

We’re now in – what? trump’s 9th month?  It already feels like decades, and it seems to become more dire and more illegal by the hour.

The other day, a headline popped up on my computer, posed as a question. Did trump intend to declare war against Venezuela? Huh? For what? Why?

I’ve often thought that trump’s edicts and proclamations and executive orders are stuff he thinks of at 3 a.m., as he’s sitting in front of his ridiculous truth social, pondering what he should write. And what should he write in CAPS? Yeah, that most of all. He wants everyone to know that the messages that are capitalized are the only ones you need to remember. To discuss with other people.

It’s tragic that none of these capitalized messages address what he actually is doing for the American people. So far, he hasn’t done shit. Prices are rising – for coffee, home repairs and appliances, for insurance, for food, for essentials. Inflation is rising. People are being stripped of their health care, kids are being denied school meals, and trump and his family are enriching themselves continually. & thanks to trump, Kimmel is taken off the air – and then brought back after viewers and advertisers boycotted.

Meanwhile, Epstein’s ghost lurks in the background, chuckling to himself, Ha-ha, donnie  boy, I’m gonna get even while you’re trying to indict your enemies. Foolish, boy. You’re as corrupt as I was…

Meanwhile, the supreme court – the 5 conservatives – usually sides with the orange man. Alito and Thomas are the worst. They haven’t just bent their knees for this guy. They’ve embraced him, blessed him and his illegal and corrupt soul, silently declaring that power is all that matters.

So what can you do? And you and you? Make your voices heard. Protest. Boycott companies that are in league with trump or are colluding with him or giving into him in the hopes of gaining…well, something. Don’t shut up just to be polite. If you’re with a group of people and someone brings up politics, don’t hesitate to speak up.

Small acts are often powerful, especially when they grow and swell. The protests against Vietnam started small. And then they grew and grew until the majority of people in this country denounced it. That wart spanned the years from 1969 to March 29, 1973, when the last of the U.S. military left the country. Good ole corrupt Richard Nixon was president then.

So don’t think none of this impacts you. Don’t dismiss it as “just politics.” Trump has turned the country into an autocracy, a dictatorship.  & he really does seem to think he’s king, above all law. So don’t shut up.

Karma?

Remember James Comey? The former director of the FBI came out days before the 2016 election and said he was reopening the probe  into Clinton’s email.  And oops, now he’s being investigated by the trump admin for…well, the charge doesn’t matter because this is all about trump’s personal vendettas from his first stint in the white house.

I dislike Comey for doing what he did in 2016 and handing trump the presidency. But it’s one more piece of evidence that trump is following the authoritarian playbook.

Silent Thunder

My new novel, to be published soon, the 7th in the  Mira Morales series.

As a climate catastrophe swallows south Florida and the Keys, psychic Mira Morales watches  the obliteration of her past on live TV. She is losing her former bookstore and home where she lived for decades. Tango Key itself disappears as she witnesses the catastrophe in stunned disbelief. But when she’s recruited by the FBI to go undercover at a government-controlled animal rescue facility, she’s drawn into an even darker storm. 

She discovers the facility actually weaponizes animals. Dogs, cats, even wild animals are enhanced in ways that defy science. Their intelligence has been heightened and they can communicate – through Scrabble tiles.  What begins as an investigation becomes a mission of survival for Mira, her family, her community and the extraordinary animals she helps to escape the facility. 

Political corruption deepens and government surveillance closes in. When violence escalates, Mira must decide how much she’s willing to risk. Will exposing the truth cost her the lives of her husband and daughter? Can she save these animals she has grown to love?

Not a Hero

I knew that Charlie Kirk  had said some  heinous things in his short life,  but wanted a list so I googled it.  This excerpt is from The Nation:

“Kirk had every right to his views and to the way that he expressed them, even if he did not support that right for other people. He founded the Professor Watchlist, committed to singling out academics he believed discriminated against conservative views, scholarship, and students, leading to threats against some of the instructors named. He regularly attacked the LGBTQ community, saying, “God’s perfect law…[says gay people] shall be stoned to death.” He claimed the Civil Rights Act was “a huge mistake,” and called the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. “an awful person.” He mocked the 2023 political assault on Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul, and even suggested someone should bail his assailant out of jail. Kirk even attempted to link Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to the assassination of Walz’s close friend and ally, State Senator Melissa Hortman.”

& that’s just for starters.

No one should die by assassination & not while exercising their first amendment to free speech. However, before the 22-year-old assassin was even caught, trump was declaring that the “radical left” had created this divisive atmosphere in the country that led to Kirk’s assassination. Yet, trump himself is the one who sows more division daily through all the obvious ways he’s seeking to topple democracy.

Why is it that the U.S. has a convicted felon for president, who also tried to overturn the 2020 election that he lost? Yet, Brazil’s ex president, Jair Bolsanaro, who lost his election in 2022 , was convicted of attempting to plot a coup and sentenced to 27 years in prison?But criminal justice system failed miserably and here we are.

In fact, when you read about Bolsanaro’s crimes it sounds like trump was following his sick playbook.

Charlie Kirk was just one more casualty in trump’s authoritarian takeover. He was not a hero.

Minky & the Yellow Bird

Here’s another powerful synchro that Joyce sent.

Another profound experience happened when my little papplion  dog Minky passed away in my arms. We had to call the vet because she was very sick and her heart was weak and giving up. She was 13.  I was absolutely devastated.

Before she left, I told her I will always love her and be here for her and asked her to show me that she was happy on the other side by sending me a yellow bird which would fly into my hands. Have no clue why I thought of that at that moment but I did.

And a few days later that is exactly what happened—I opened my bedroom patio door and in flew a yellow bird into my hands, not before, and not since—just that one extraordinary moment.

Joyce added: “Experiences like these remind me that we are never alone. Intelligent, intuitive life forms are always around us—far more connected to the greater whole than we realize.”

The Black Crow

One day, a woman named Joyce contacted me through our podcast and said she was trying to send me a synchronicity but it wouldn’t go through on the podcast website.  I sent her my email address and a few days later, I heard from her.

This synchronicity she sent about a black crow is particularly powerful.

Earlier this summer, I was at home with my patio door open as I often do. Suddenly, from my bedroom I heard fluttering, banging, and shuffling noises. A beautiful large black crow had flown inside and was frantically trying to find her way out, crashing into the kitchen, walls, paintings, and furniture.

My first thought was to gently cover her with a towel and release her outside, but that proved difficult—she was terrified fluttering about non -stop and left quite a mess. Eventually, I was able to guide her through the small patio door with some careful movements showing her how and she finally flew out. Now she returns often, perching on the railing, and I feed her when she comes by. She never makes a sound just peers in my window and waits for her cookies.

Here’s where the synchronicity comes in: My son, who lives across the bridge some distance away, was meditating at the same time. When I later told him what had happened, he went pale, got goosebumps, and said, “Mom, I just saw exactly what you described was happening here —while I was meditating.” He doesn’t exaggerate or embellish stories, we looked at each and it was a beautiful moment that we shared together which drew us even closer together.

We’ve Crossed the Line…

….into Fascism. The supreme court gave trump the green light for ICE to detain anyone who isn’t white, speaks Spanish, and works at a low wage job – gardener, picking fruit, car washer, you know the jobs,

As Justice Sotomayor wrote in her dissent:  “We should not have to live in a country where the Government can seize anyone who looks Latino, speaks Spanish, and appears to work a low wage job. Rather than stand idly by while our constitutional freedoms are lost, I dissent.”

There is no difference between what Hitler’s SS  did rounding up Jews and what trump ‘s ICE is doing rounding up Latinos and people of color. Racial profiling.

So for those of you who voted for this madman because of “what’s happening at the border” or for the “economy” or for whatever other reason, and for those of you who continue to support him, welcome to the equivalent of Nazi Germany 2.0, trump style.

Lunar Eclipse In Pisces

On September 7, there’s a lunar eclipse at 15 degrees Pisces, the first of two eclipses this month. These eclipses often bring up unresolved issues from the past and address something in our lives that is nearing completion.

You can see the moon down there in the 3rd house, with the horseshoe shape – the North Node – next to it. When that node is conjunct the eclipse, it tends to be a positive event.
