Apparition

The third book in my Hungry Ghosts trilogy was published today! Before I knew the pub date, I was worried that it would be published during Mercury retrograde, which ended on 11/10. It turns out that astrologically, today is one of the luckiest this year, with the transiting sun and transiting Jupiter forming a perfect beneficial angle to each other.

An excerpt is here.

The cover is scary… I think it’s supposed to be Ricardo, one of the brujos – hungry ghosts – but he never looks like this in my descriptions of him. He doesn’t wear face paint. When we first see him, his host is a Q’ero Indian. By the end of the book, his host is a black man, whom I imagine as Denzel Washington!  I didn’t have any input on the cover!

On another note: every disaster and mass event not only has synchros, but also has miracles. In the midst of utter devastation that may have killed more than 10,000 people, a baby was born. She was named after her grandmother, who is among the missing.

  1. Fantastico! So very happy and excited for you, Trish. Jim and I will both be reading it soon. Whatever happened to “you can’t judge a book by its cover?” I actually like the dark intrigue it seems to promise – oooooh scary. I’m also looking forward to reading Synchronicity Highway as soon as we break down and get an e-reader.

by the way – an advertising box just popped up in the bottom right corner – about a movie or tv show… ???

An advertising box? Weird. I went down to comments to see if it would come up for me. It didn’t. But thanks for the tip. I’ll keep an eye out. There aren’t any ads on this blog, so I don’t know what’s up!

FABULOUS news! and the cover – well, i find it intriguing – enticing – all in the eye of the beholder [literally, in this case] 🙂

    CONGRATULATIONS!

would love to write more but am out the door to the store – to buy almonds…

The cover looks like Bela Lugosi as Dracula! 🙂

I also wouldn’t buy a book with that cover. But I’ve bought a few of yours already, so yeah, the author’s name on the spine would make a difference to me! Congratulations, Trish, on your newest “baby.” And I’m off to read about that other baby now. 🙂

Congrats! Glad this merc retro is over! A great day to launch a book.

  7. Congrats! I will be reading this soon!

This cover made me laugh because there is no way I would pick up this book to read. I understand this cover is to entice different readers into your series, who may have passed by the first two because there was a woman on those covers. So the only thing that really matters to generate stellar sales is the author name on the spine.

    • Rob and Trish says:

It’s unlikely that I would pick up a book with this cover, even though I like the image. I still remember the cover of the thorn birds – I bought that book because of the cover.

  8. Lots of luck with the book, especially as “today is one of the luckiest this year.”

  9. Hey, Big congrats on your new book – especially getting it out AFTER the Mercury retrograde is over. You guys sure are prolific and manage to write every day on your blog too. I want to eat what you’re eating to manage all this. And dogs too!
