You have to hand it to the ancient Greeks and their mythology. They knew their stuff. For every human flaw, for every psychological syndrome, they had a story.
Take Narcissus. This guy, the son of a river god and a nymph, was a hunter known for his physical beauty and for spurning those who loved him. His behavior attracted the attention of nemesis, who was supposedly the spirit of retribution for arrogance. She attracted Narcissus to a pool where he saw his own reflection and fell in love with it so completely that he stared at his reflection until he died.
Interestingly, since Donald Trump became the Republican nominee, psychologists have been diagnosing this dude as a narcissist. Well, yes. That’s been obvious for years and ever since the Repubs elevated him to the status of nominee, it’s gotten worse. Now he speaks endlessly about how the party should all shut up and just let him do his thing – i.,e, alienate everyone.
Personally, I’m fascinated with Trump’s love affair with himself. It’s gross and twisted and endlessly entertaining. I imagine that nemesis is somewhere in the shadows, laughing her ass off. Keep it up, Trump, and we’ll be witnessing the demise of the party that thrust you onto center stage. I would like to be glib here and make some snotty remark about how Trump doesn’t have a chance at becoming prez. But there may be just enough hate in this country – and Clinton may have so much political baggage – that psycho Trump is propelled into the White House.
Eight years of W Bush was BAD. Four years of Trump would be far worse. I hear a province in Nova Scotia is inviting Americans to move there if our nightmare comes to pass. Yeah, it’s colder there than it is in South Florida, but a Trump presidency would be like living in the Arctic, isolated, scared, and alone. And belligerent, of course.
My point exactly: W wasn’t running the country. He was a mere puppet on a string being held by several puppet masters who moved him in whatever directions they wanted him to go. Decades ago, before re-locating to FL, I attended the Silva Mind Control School. It’s astonishing how easily the human mind can be brainwashed without the person’s awareness or consent. There are hundreds of photos of GWB on display in various venues, circumstances, and situations. In many of those photographs, if we study his expressions closely, he appears “vacant”…..a facial expression that is common among folks who have one form or another of dementia: Alzheimer’s, alcoholic dementia, diabetic dementia, elderly dememtia…..there’s a kind of “blankness” there. Sad, terrifying, yes. True? It bears consideration.
Hey, Nova Scotia is gorgeous! And considering that it is currently 115 degrees here in Tucson, it sounds darn attractive to me. The leader of Canada is just about all the things that Trump isn’t as well – a progressive, compassionate leader.
But I don’t think he can win – he’s already managed to alienate his own party. But just in case I’ll be looking at real estate prices in Nova Scotia. I was worried when our own McCain was running – he would have been a dangerous president.
Wow, 115? I would wilt!!
I know this places me in the midst of numerous conspiracy theorists, but I tend to give it at least some degree of credibility when I review this country’s political history: The Shadow Government, The Powers that Be, which are hidden from sight and are ultra-secret, choose the person who is to be president and “groom” that person according to specific agendas that serve certain purposes. This hypothesis is presented by such research authors as David Icke. I personally don’t care for Icke, and when I initially read his first book a few years ago I actually drove to a dumpster and tossed it in, not wanting that energy in my house. As time passed, however, and I read other material by other authors which supported Icke’s claims in acceptable and totally logical presentations, I decided to get another copy and re-read it from different perspectives. It made sense, all things considered. The voting public cannot in any manner PROVE that our votes are not trashed; that “voting” is not, in itself, a highly sophisticated scam devised to make us think we select our political figures when in fact it’s a done deal. This is a radical, infuriating concept, but is not outside the realm of complete possibility. Within the parameters of this concept, the murder of JFK is said to have been carried out because he refused to bend to the rules of TPTB once he was in office; that the entire Kennedy Clan, which has suffered one tragedy after another, culling them from positions of power, was methodically orchestrated by the Shadow Gov’t. Chilling, terrible concept….that our votes are useless…. but a concept that is not without some substantiating substance. How can we know? Bottom line: we can’t.
From afar it’s interesting. We have a visit from him, I believe, the day after our referendum about staying in the European Union (June 23). Luckily we can return him too you.
You sure you don’t want him? 🙂
If the word “arrogant” is looked up in any dictionary, I suspect the name Donald Trump would be the definition. The word “dictator”: Donald Trump, alongside Hitler and his kind. The word “egomaniac”: again, Donald Trump. The words “woman hater”: Donald Trump. The word “racist”” Donald Trump. The words “white supremist”: Donald Trump. The word “war-monger”: Donald Trump. The word “DANGEROUS”…..DONALD TRUMP. Compared to Trump, Wubbya was a mere wuss. Trump is a genuine danger to this country and to the world. God forbid he should end up in the Oval Office.
W might have been a wuss and stupid, but he wasn’t running the country. Cheney and Wolfowitz and the rest of his gang were. All of them should be charged with war crimes.
