While we were in Cassadaga a few weeks back, we ran across a book called Moldavite: Starborn Stone of Transformation. Rob reminded me that years ago, a psychic friend had sent us a piece of moldavite, which he called the ET stone. So I bought the book.
The stone has an interesting history. Nearly 15 million years ago, a meteor crashed in what is now the Bohemian plateau of the Czech Republic. It’s believed that moldavite is a result of that meteor’s impact, but there are several theories about its origin. One theory is that it’s earthly rock melted by the heat of the meteor’s crash. Another theory contends that its origin is extraterrestrial, as our psychic friend had said.
According to author Robert Simmons, moldavite has been used as a spiritual talisman for at least 25,000 years, More recently it has been connected to the grail in the legend of the holy grail. Whatever its origins, it is now widely used for metaphysical purposes. Simmons says that working consciously with this stone causes chakras to open, your dream life becomes more vivid and meaningful, healings occur, it’s easier to communicate with spirit guides, and that synchronicities increase.
The morning after I read this, I went in search of moldavite in Cassadaga’s gift shops. We were told that the stone has become so popular that loose pieces of moldavite are becoming more difficult to find. I ended up buying a pair of moldavite earrings and the first time I wore them, I felt sort of spacey, the sides of my face turned warm. According to Simmons, this is normal. But nothing synchronistic happened.
When we got home, Rob found the piece of moldavite that had been given to us and we both began to work consciously with the stone. I sometimes wear the earrings when I write and it seems easier to get focused and to tune in. But maybe that’s just the placebo effect.
Then, last night, we went to a charity function held by a local gym and figured moldavite might facilitate some synchronicities. Rob pocketed his piece, I wore the earrings. Not too much happened until this morning, when Jim Banzholder sent us this story about synchronicities and moldavite. The timing was perfect. On the heels of our moldavite discovery, Jim’s friend had had a synchronistic moldavite experience.
When we read it, I asked Rob if he’d taken his moldavite out of his pocket. He hadn’t – and it was saved from the laundry because of Jim’s story. Don’t know if that last part qualifies as a synchronicity, but the laundry would’ve reduced the stone to bits and pieces!
thanks for comment, trish!
i'm LOL about your photo shoot!!! too funny!
Oh wow, Jenean. It sounds like your ring is doing triple duty! I'm still trying to get a good photo of my earrings, but righ tnow, they look liek pretty silver things with black stones!
Great story.
postscript on comment above – as i signed out of the comment, the word verification was "POWSHREF" – [POW SHREF] – the nickname for my hometown of shreveport is SHREVE, having been founded by a CAPTAIN SHREVE –
one of the things i like about my ring setting is that the stone is deep enough to touch my finger through the open setting – the stone is actually 5mmx12mm – in any event, just a few curiosities since i've been wearing it –
last night i had an intensely vivid dream in which my brother who died many years ago appeared – i remember how wonderful it was to see him again – we were both happy and joking and having fun like we always did and i was SO happy to see him again – it was beautiful – the details of the dream need not be told here but suffice it to say that when i woke it took a while for me to discern whether it was really a dream or not –
and when i woke early this morning [before true daylight], i sat up in bed and decided to work on details of my trip home to shreveport, louisiana, that i am going to be taking in a few weeks – so, i'm going over which days i'll be with which person once i'm there – and a kind of agenda for what i want to do while i'm there – since i had to make a road trip later this morning up to the northern part of the state, i turned on my tv to check the latest bad weather reports – but instead of hitting channel "7" i inadvertently hit channel "4" which happens to be the qvc shopping channel – i'm so engrossed in making notes in my little notebook that for a moment i don't realize what i've done – and then i hear a female on the screen say to the man with her that she's from louisiana – and he says, "oh, no, so am i! where are you from?" – and she said "shreveport" – to which he responded "no! so am i!" – neither knew that the other was from shreveport, obviously – well, by then, i'm totally glued to their conversation and they go on to talk about not only shreveport, but the exact neighborhood where my home of 20 years was – including the service station at the end of the subdivision that is owned by the ex-husband of an old friend of mine – the madison park exxon! and the air base where my daughter's husband was stationed for years – it went on and on –
– when i got home after my trip north today, i went to the qvc website to see if i could find the woman's name – while i was unable to get her name, there are several videos of the two of them on the air this morning during the 6am-7am time frame i caught – i went through several of the videos to try to find the conversation about shreveport and download it but apparently it was edited out –
now, i've no clue as to whether or not my ring had anything at all to do with any of this – i'm just sayin'……..that's the story!
Hey Gypsy- send me a photo of your ring and I'll take a pic of my earrings and I'll post both photos for the moldavite update!
ok, boys and girls – my ring was delivered late today – very well done and pretty – i ordered it online at heavenandearthjewelry.com – in the package also was a very nicely done catalog of their products – a vast assortment of minerals, gems, jewelry, etc – whether the pieces are authentic or not i cannot say – but i am pleased with my ring –
LOVE the anagram from jim! perfect!
"Admit Love" is a good anagram for Moldavite.
Lakeviewer – I've never seen another name for it.
C – good luck with ebay!
Never heard of moldavite. Does it have other names?
Ok they had a peice at a new age store I go to. I litterally spend hundreds a moth there WITH NO DISCOUNT OR SALE EVER!
They wanted $25 for a very very small peice (I held it and it felt nice) I hinted I only had $20 to spend, NOTHING. Oh well this is why I can't wait to open my own shop (DISCOUNTS FOR EVERYONE!). Anyways I will try 2 pick up a peice on Ebay.
C – let me know where you find some!
Nancy – Moldavite just might be a ticket for your daughter.
Marja – interesting about Maori greenstones. Thwey sound a lot like Moldavite.
Great story never heard about moldavite. Looks a little bit like the greenstone we have here.
According to the Maori greenstone absorbs the spriritual power of the wearer (mana) It is also a healing stone.
Being a crystal and stone nut, now I will be looking for this one. Your earrings sound very powerful if you felt warmth when you put them on. I read that it has an affect on many areas. This sounds like a gift for that daughter of mine that is in search of clarity, not to mention a nice addition to my intention shelf. Thanks!
This is my favorite post of you 2 yet!!!
I have bought so many crystals and stones in the past few months , but havn't got a piece of this yet (on eBay now getting one). I might share some stories about my crystals and stones on my site eventually (I plan on opening a new age shop soon, with in a year or so, discounts for all my "friends"). I bought 2 really good instructional DVD's [CRYSTAL USE AND AWARENESS & THE POWER OF CRYSTALS, both recommended] I have been watching this week, but need to re-visit them with a pen and pad cause it's so much info there.
I recently got two load stones and put them in a pouch and been carrying them around. One repels bad luck and the other attracts good luck. Funny thing is I hate magnetized stones (I made my wife a hematite anklet, I could barley make it cause of my metal in my teeth etc) but for some reason these loadstones are naturally magnetized and make me feel great, go figure? I love carnelian and I also have a nice tiny quarts crystal in the shape of a pyramid that sticks to my 4hear (3rd eye spot) if I want it 2.
Can't wait to get a piece of this. Almost sounds worth it 2 get a pair of earrings just to wear for concentration, hmmm.
AGAIN GREAT GREAT POST!
oh, neat, trish!
When you get it, gypsy, sent us a photo and we'll post it along with a photo of my earrings!
i've already scouted around and found a ring i'm getting – wanted something i didn't have to take off [like with a pendant or earrings] – and i think i just left the stoneart site!
Gwen – thanks for the tip. I'll check out stoneart. I had heard about the crown, the brits obviously are onto moldavite! Your profile says you live practically around the corner from us.
Did you know that it is the largest gemstone in the royal crown of England? Moldavite is considered the gem of the aristocracy in Europe revered as a 'touchstone' to their ancestors. If you looking for pieces of moldavite, one of the fairest crystal / gem / mineral dealers' on the net is Stoneart.com … Steve Goins. He specializes in rare finds and hard to finds. Neat post!
Moldavite…sounds like gypsy has a pretty good start on the meaning. What do you think, Toumai? & yes, it really is a beautiful stone, Liza. Real pretty when set into jewelry. Simmons contends that wearing moldavite as jewelry keeps its energy within your own energy field.
Gypsywoman, I'm sitting here thinking YES!! Eureka.
;-)(-;
That is some beautiful stone, and I love gypsy woman's words. I must read more about this too.
Thanks for sharing, and keep up posted.
Enjoy your day.
FANTASTIC story – actually, stories – so many layers and connections – now i have to run read more about moldavite – kinda like it's name, too – and what it says – "mold" "a" "vite" [maybe latin/vita/life] – sounds like looks like almost "mold a life" – where's toumai at a time like this? 🙂
great post, boys and girls!
