Amy Coney Barrett
Have you ever heard of a religious group called People of Praise? It’s a conservative cult-like group that mixes Catholic traditions with Pentecostalism. It was founded in 1971 in South Bend, Indiana, with a core group of 29 people, and now has groups in 11 other states. The groups emphasize “intentional community living,” not like you and the folks in your neighborhood, but rather committing to deeply sharing one another’s lives. “We’re not just praying together, we’re putting our lives in common,” Craig Lent, the group’s current leader, said in an interview. (Having grown up Catholic, I can’t think of a better name for a charismatic group leader than Lent. Synchro one.)
Why is People of Praise cult-like? Members swear a lifelong oath of loyalty to the group. Each one is accountable to a same-sex adviser, called a “head” for men and a “handmaiden” for women, who gives input on a wide variety of personal decisions. Anyone who has read The Handmaid’s Tale or has seen the TV series by the same name can’t help but notice the irony of that designation for advisors. It also certainly sounds like a trickster synchronicity, and possibly a warning of more to come from this group. But how could People of Praise have any effect on the rest of us non-members? Read on.
President Trump is currently considering a member of People of Praise for the Supreme Court, a woman who has a handmaiden advisor or possibly is a handmaiden herself! Her name is Amy Coney Barrett and she has emerged as a strong potential favorite to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy after he resigns from the Supreme Court later this month. Barrett is fiercely conservative, a former law clerk for fellow Catholic Antonin Scalia and holds membership in the extremely conservative Federalist Society.
SLATE.com, in an article on Barrett, cited one blogger who described her this way: “Barrett is a dangerous religious extremist who believes a federal judge can subvert the U.S. Constitution and the laws of the United States in order to promote her own religious agenda.”
You’ve got to wonder if Barrett has ever watched The Handmaid’s Tale and seen her image among the powers-that-be that rule.

I have to add that I think the prime consideration here for t-rump is that she has long blond hair and is good looking.
Pathetic all the way around, on every level. The country is being run by corrupt, evil clowns.
There is some question as to whether our dictator (and seeing the abuse of power that he has gotten away from, frankly, I don’t know what else to call him and the enabling GOP)…..some question as to whether he can fill that seat yet. But since virtually every objection to his behavior has not met with any censorship or stopping, I suppose we can look forward to the “wisdom” of this religious fanatic telling us what to do with out lives and our bodies. In just two short years we have seen the separation between church and state fall – hearing elected officials in Washington citing the Bible just two years ago would have been as weird and out of place as someone citing the Koran or the Bhagavad Gita. Now it’s commonplace, and religious fanatics are determining government on what they deem to be “biblical law” opening. And meanwhile, our “president” is in Russia, arranging a private meeting with Putin in which no americans can be present at all. And the environmental destruction agency has a new head now who was a premiere coal lobbyist, thanks to our brave leader. Oh, and the soon to be defunct National Endowment for the Arts has another trump favorite, a woman whose daughter has taken some art classes. What else do you need to give the finger to all those uppity intellectuals and artists? Not to mention environmentalists, women, people of color, and for that matter, considering how chummy Russia is with his royal corruption, the entire USA?
It is hard to keep any hope these days.
So hello to the Macgregors,, along the lines of name synchronicities a small little connection the boy has come across in the last week …. A real famous story,, book,,, movie… book being written in a town the boy knows well,,,, LG California. The writer wrote in how the younger brother of the main character was courting a young woman, the families were utilizing a singular railroad car for housing. The new observation is this, the last name of the young girl’s family was “Wainswright”. So what is it the genius of Steinbeck was trying to say. I once knew a character my name of Wayne Kraft….. I wonder if that predicts the future which would be okay

I am horrified and terrified about what is going on in this country. What I have to say I don’t want to see in print or this good space. I’ll have to keep on screaming to myself.
It is so scary! I’m not sure I wanted to hear this information. It’s already hard enough to keep my head above water with the news I read. I am trying to concentrate on the positive things in my life, Trish. 🙁

It’s all about setting the country back 40 or 50 years and enriching the family. That’s the agenda of this administration.
And on the way, they would love it if this country became The Handmaid’s Tale.
