Martin Luther King Day is celebrated each day on the third Monday of January. This year, that also happens to be the inauguration of trump, the orange psychopath, for his second term. It’s a dark trickster synchronicity, for sure. One of the most visionary men in American history is sharing his holiday with the worst president in U. S. history.
It’s as if the universe is putting Americans on notice that the people who voted for trump are in for a rude awakening. Unfortunately, those of us who didn’t vote for him will be subject to the same lies and damage and possibly, the death of democracy.
The man who delivered one of the most riveting speeches of all time, I have a dream, led the civil rights movement until he was assassinated on April 4, 1968. On this January 20, King will be turning in his grave as orange man promises retribution against his enemies, mass deportations of immigrants, continued hatred against people of color, women, and abolishes government agencies in the same way he has abolished the norms of decency.
It’s a sad spectacle for a country that once offered such hope and was a beacon of light.
