7 Secrets of Synchronicity

Here’s our book cover. That’s a doorway, not a tombstone! 😉
Not the greatest, but better than an earlier version that we didn’t even want to put up here. We’re happy the publisher was willing to change it.

    Jama – door, door. Yes.

  2. JamaGenie says:

Never crossed my mind that it was anything BUT a door!

  3. Trish and Rob MacGregor says:

Musing – no telling what the butterfly is about – transformation, in my book. But who knows what it meant to the art director??

  4. musingegret says:

Is the butterfly meant to allude to that famous synchronicity story of Wayne Dyer's?

Anyway, I'm so pleased for y'all and can't wait for the book; I think a virtual launch party would be terrific.

wv: citindu (sit in dew??) LOL

  5. Shadow says:

    this must be soooo exciting….

  6. therese says:

I like the light and bright – too much doom and gloom on the shelves.
    Congrats! This is awesome!

  7. Aleksandar Malecic says:

I kind of stops on my computer after the 7th second (just when the butterfl flies away). It worked today. Hmmm…

  8. Deb Kirkeeide says:

The designer in me has to agree with you on what you wanted for the book cover. It's too bad authors don't have more input on how their book is presented but at least they changed it from the first version.
    Congrats!

  9. Trish and Rob MacGregor says:

The publisher, Adams, likes white backgrounds on their covers. They have a series of books, called the Everything books, ie. The Everything Book of Astrology, and I think every one of them has a white cover.

  10. Trish and Rob MacGregor says:

Aleksander – That link didn't bring up the youtub vid.

  11. Trish and Rob MacGregor says:

Vanessa – the original cover had – get this – the logo for desperate housewives. A bough with an apple dangling from it. We both just looked at it and thought, Oh yuck, cheap clip art. I'm still not crazy about this cover, but at least the silly apple is gone. There's so much that could've been done. Oh well. Onward.

  12. Vanessa says:

Congratulations, guys! Just seeing the cover makes it seem already here. To put my two cents in, I can see where they're going with the simple approach, and with a white background (instead of something "dark") to appeal to a wider audience, but that design needs some help. Heavens. Can't they just use the butterfly alone and not those other images? Just enlarge the butterfly and move it up near the 7.

  13. Trish and Rob MacGregor says:

Oh, I don't know, teapot. That photo of those teapots still blows me away! And your story was one of the first we'd gotten for the blog, so our thanks to YOU, too. Now ff to nose around on your blog.

  14. teapotshappen says:

looks great, better than the teapot shot would have been I think! Can't wait to get my mitts on it … thanks again for helping focus me on this subject and get me writing on it, it's been positive in many ways …

  15. Nancy says:

I can't wait to read it!

  16. Trish and Rob MacGregor says:

Off to check out the link, Aleksander. This sounds like a synchro to me!

  17. Aleksandar Malecic says:

I guess one can see a butterfly as a symbol everywhere, but not a butterfly and a sunflower (especially not a person "named" Sunflower), especially not three or four days after I've mentioned Pearl Jam after the text Feast or Famine (about lives in transition). I am interested in renewable (solar) energy (as you could have guessed from some of my comments) and had some conversations about it these days. I suppose I should be more active about it and see "what the day brings".

  18. Vicki D. says:

    How exciting! Congratulations.

I know you wish the cover had more background color but the title really pops out, although I like your idea of the cover being the door.

Can't wait to read it, while I'm drinking my champagne!

  19. Trish and Rob MacGregor says:

The cover to me has an unfinished feel to it, like a website design that could use a layer of background color or one of the images could be enlarged and centered.

So, interpreting that impression like a dream, it feels as if there's another synchronicity book to follow, to explore what was unfinished. – R

  20. Sansego says:

The butterfly is a common spiritual symbol these days. I see it EVERYWHERE!

I agree that the cover could be better, but it could also be worse. At any rate, I can't wait to buy and read it! A virtual book release party sounds great.

  21. Aleksandar Malecic says:

I've added after Feast or Famine a comment about Pearl Jam. Their former main songwriter has another band, Brad. I tried today to download their new song for free (announced on Pearl Jam's Facebook group), but something went wrong. Then I decided to search their song on Youtube. Here is something I saw today for the first time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3g3raY1tYm4 (Brad: The Day Brings). There is a monarch butterfly and a comment (empty, just like mine about Aurora Borealis) by MexicanSUNFLOWER. If you remember, I've mentioned a monarch butterfly in Facebook (The Best Synchronicity Ever).

  22. GYPSYWOMAN says:

    and absinthe, trish…yummmmmm…

  23. GYPSYWOMAN says:

oh, terrific!!! it's all coming together perfectly – or more like – we're all coming together perfectly!
    😉

  24. Trish and Rob MacGregor says:

Roses sound wonderful! Maybe we can find some butterflies that would like to join us.

  25. Marlene says:

congratulations!!! We must not forget flowers!! a beautiful bouquet of roses! I will definately be ordering this book, can't wait to read it!

  26. Trish and Rob MacGregor says:

We'll order wine and food and hmm, maybe absinthe? We'll combine it with your birthday, Gypsy!

  27. GYPSYWOMAN says:

great on the publisher changing, trish! love the sunflower and the butterfly – and the door is perfect – so the elements are there – i agree with your ideal cover – and i also agree with your "onward" movement!!! great book! many many congratulations, you two!

    champagne ordered!

oh, and just in time for my birthday so i'll make that champagne and confections!!!

  28. Trish and Rob MacGregor says:

& a virtual champagne party would be fun!

  29. Trish and Rob MacGregor says:

My ideal cover is one in which the door contains the title, so you feel as if you're walking into the book. And a darker background would be nice. But…onward.

  30. d page says:

    Congratulations!
The butterfly is a nice touch.

  31. Natalie says:

Fantastic! I could see it was a door…not to worry about that.
    Congratulations!
I am very excited for you both. A virtual champagne party should be held when it is released in August. We could each advertise your book on our Blog page, dress up for the 'Blog Launch' (photos) and have a virtual drink to celebrate. 🙂
