1:26

Yesterday’s post was on 11s, so today we’ve got a new set of numbers -126.

The  synchronicity, oddly enough, involves Diane Keaton, heavy metal, and the numbers 1-26. It comes from Jesse Ryan, who has been following our blog for a couple of months.

“I saw the 1977 movie Looking for Mr. Goodbar, starring Diane Keaton recently –  after I read mention of it in Tom Robbins’ Wild Ducks Flying Backward.  There’s a scene where Keaton’s character, Theresa, dreams that her father is dead, and a Catholic funeral hymn plays in the background.  It’s a hymn that I guess is well-known in the Catholic community.  I instantly recognized it as the hymn that opens Deathspell Omega’s 2004 album Si Monumentum Requiris, Circumspice, which is arguably one of the greatest black metal albums of all time, and one of my absolute favorite records.

It’s not only the same song, but I’m convinced it’s the exact same track (ie from the same source).  The only difference is there are funeral bells ringing in the movie, possibly something added for the movie or taken away in the album.  I just thought this was a really cool Easter egg at first, but when I began to look into it further so I could share this with the only friend I thought would appreciate it, I realized there was a cool synchronicitous happening here. The hymn starts playing 1 hour and 26 minutes into the movie, and 1 minute 26 seconds into the album/song!”

If you Google 1:26, you get  Genesis 1:26, which is entitled All the Wild Animals. It reads:

“Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.'”

So we started with Wild Ducks Flying Backwards and ended with a funeral hymn linked to our stewardship, or dominance, over the creatures of the earth. There’s something telling about that synchronicity, considering the unprecedented loss of species over the past two decades that is directly related to human activity.

Imagine if the animals started rebelling?

Aleksandar – it does seem that numbers lead us into new places, doesn't it? Your take is fascinating.

Alright, after that anonymous comment, I'll post it. It reminds me to the movie Pi the number 216 (1, 2, 6 permuted). 216 = 3^3 + 4^3 + 5^3 = 6^3 ("^3" means "cube"). I was playing with these numbers long time ago, for elements and stuff (four interactions in physics, four psychological types, quaternity in Synchronicity – another permutation 2016 = 1 + 2 + … +63) and it kind of started looking like "something", but it was too weird to do anything with it. It looks both like a code and nothing. Anyway, it made me more interested in synchronicity.
