Update on Time Traveler

Here’s a better look at the photo we posted the other day. A commenter named Michael also sent a link to a site that discusses the photo skeptically. Worth reading. It might be easier to enlarge this photo for a closer look. On this site, the photo appears again. Here, it’s subjected to an image forensics technique that proves the photo hasn’t been tampered – no Photoshop.

Intriguing stuff.

Now take a look at this charlie Chaplin footage. Two people alerted us to this – Daz and Gypsy. It’s very strange. But it certainly looks as if a woman (she’s in black and reminds me of the wicked witch in Oz) is holding a cell phone to her ear – in the 1920s.

When I enlarged the first pic of the Time Traveler I thought the camera looked like a 35mm. Now that this view can be enlarged be more clearly I can see that it is box camera.

I also noticed what looked like a hoody.

I just saw a spoof on SciFi. My Stepmother is an Alien. Kim Basinger comes from her planet to earth wearing clothes from the wrong time period, using slang from the wrong era, etc. Could the TT be from another planet or dimension who picks the wrong look?

I just watched the above YouTube video and noticed the guys favourite film star is Jackie Chan.I just love Jackie Chan…but sorry,Charlie wins that duel.
Jackie made most of his movie "First Strike" in my hometown Brisbane. The scene where he is on stilts fighting was filmed in Brisbane's Chinatown Mall.
Hands up those who knew Jackie was scheduled to film a scene near the top floor of the WTC on the morning of Sept 11,2001,as a window cleaner, but the shot was canceled due to high winds?
Time traveler or not,at least this will make people travel back in time and view Charlie's wonderful catalogue of films.-)

    Sorry Rob/Trish,
Gypsy and I can't take any credit for alerting you to this clip.
Michael was the one who suggested it and I was the one raving on about Chaplin to him and your readers.
Looks like Michael scooped the mainstream media on this one and I'm amazed they even brought it up at all…maybe because it had nothing to do with Innocent people getting killed in wars .-)

    WV= destri (destroy)?

The man/old woman on the Chaplin video reminds me of Star Trek shows and movies. Star Trek characters traveled through time and their communicators worked with the ship. Cell towers were not required no matter what planet they were on. 😀

    Yeah for Gene Roddenberry's vision!

Sounds like laughing to me! c-i!

Has anybody considered the possibility that the man/woman on the "phone" in the Charlie Chaplin photo might be a ghost or spirit? cj

About the Time Traveler photo, he looks like he's wearing a hoodie, if you look closely at the back of his neck. Did they have hoodies then? Weird WV: aries cj

  7. Milo James Fowler says:

The guy in the photo reminds me of an early beatnik… I can't figure out the 1920's footage. If it ain't a fake, could it be some schizophrenic soul with arthritis scratching at her face whilst communicating with the voices in her head. But I like the time traveller idea MUCH better, considering the short story I just sent off to Asimov's. (Fingers crossed.)

  8. Lauren says:

I find the Chaplin film clip fascinating! Either a cell phone, or a lunatic talking on an imaginary phone to an imaginary friend………..

The picture looks to me like the man is wearing a hand knitted sweater, which a lot of mom's and sisters did for Christmas back then. Look to me like a box camera of the time is in his hand….. The sunglasses seem like the kinds of maximum protection sun shades one can buy now that go over glasses, with the big side panels; I wonder if the military might have had sunglasses like that at the time for soldiers in areas where there was a lot of glare?

Another note: Men didn't start wearing that partially shaved look until a couple of years or so ago, when Dr. McDreamy on TV. along with a few other stars, made it popular. This TT guy is wearing that shady beard. WV: "realshe"

Watching the news last night NBC 5, they showed a clip of this video, asking the public what they thought. Totally surprised to not only see it, but made aware of it by the news, even more so by the timing of this video, given your most recent post on the time traveler above.

But then again your sight isn't called Synchronicity for nothing. All very mysterious.

  11. Anonymous says:

TT man has very bushy eyebrows behind those dark shades and a peculiar shape to his nose. It is flat and straight across its front. Don't think I've ever seen anyone with a nose quite like that….cj

Jen asks if Cell phone tower's would even work in 1920!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. GYPSYWOMAN says:

wonderful stories – both of them – the thing about cell phones/towers – i'm just thinking that if they were capable of TT, perhaps the phone itself was advanced enough to not require towers –

  14. simple s. says:

the very distinct possibilty exists that it was a person with a fair amount of scientific "imagination" playing a spoof and considering it was Chaplin and hollywood imagination is something that runs RAMPANT in the area,,, I see nothing terribly strange,, just a little sci-fi incorporated,, but then again the possiblity always existsssss

  15. Vicki D. says:

If she can time travel they prob have figured out some way to communicate with others.

  16. Trish and Rob MacGregor says:

Not without cell towers. So, another layer to the mystery. Don't think there were any cell towers in the 1920s.

  17. Jen says:

Would cell phones even WORK in 1920??

  18. Trish and Rob MacGregor says:

Gypsy told me about the CBS thing. Amazing, that the mainstream media has picked up on this.Yes, who oh who was she talking to??

  19. Anonymous says:

Those shades the man in the photo is wearing were definitely not available in that timeframe. Pretty astonishing! cj

  20. Vicki D. says:

They showed this on the evening news last night!
    It is amazing footage.
I think she is talking to another time traveller.

  21. Nancy says:

Pretty darn strange, I'd say! Even more interesting – who was he/she talking to?
