Well it happened. On Jan. 10, someone came to our blog with the search term: prom dress and chickens.
    Go figure.

I'll be darned, T & R!! Didn't know about those wild flocks of chickens! Since they don't seem to bother anyone here on the beach, no one bothers them. As I mentioned, not even the dogs or cats who may be out and about. These are just plain old chickens, the kind my aunt and uncle had on their tobacco farm in south GA in their henhouse and pens. Go figure! cj

  3. Trish and Rob MacGregor says:

Our guess: these are contestants in a 4-H beauty pageant. But that's only a guess.

  4. Shadow says:

any idea what brought the chickens into this???

  5. Trish and Rob MacGregor says:

    Ditto, Butternut!

CJ – there are flocks (?) of wild chickens and roosters all over the Florida keys. On Big Pine, they hang out at the local Winn Dixie.

  6. GYPSYWOMAN says:

oh, butternut! too too funny!!! perfect!!! 😉

  7. Butternut Squash says:

Maybe they had clutch and cluck confused?

  8. Trish and Rob MacGregor says:

Love this! LOVE it! For a couple of years now here on the beach, we have a (what does one call a gang of chickens? A flock?) flock of free-roaming chickens, with a rooster in the lead. No one has any clue where these chickens belong, or to whom. They literally roam probably a five-mile radius, and we see them pecking and waddling around in yards and in surrounding woods and dunes, and once in a while if they happen to be closeby, we hear Mr. Rooster waking up the sun. They're tame as can be, but no one claims them although we all claim them, and no one allows anyone else to call animal control. The beach dogs and cats don't seem to mind the chickens sharing their space. It's so funny to see a gaggle of farm birds calling a beach community 'home'. I'll try to snap a photo of them. Every family within the chickens'
roaming range throws out feed for them, so they're fat and sassy. Hope nobody gets a hankerin' for a fried chicken dinner! cj

Now there's a puzzle: the connection between the dresses and the chickens. I must admit though as to not liking chickens, no idea why. Just something about them.

  13. GYPSYWOMAN says:

oh, but your post does remind me of the little bantam roosters my brother had as pets when we were kids – these little things were just like puppy dogs – they followed him around, came to him when he called them by name, sat in his lap, walked on a leash [i think it was a big piece of string he used] – the whole nine yards – anyway, just a flashback to yesteryear with these chicken pets!

wv here = frelessi – free lassie? love it!

  14. GYPSYWOMAN says:

LOL LOL – too funny, you two [well, in this case, you three!] – neat!!!

  15. DJan says:

Now THAT is weird! Why the chickens? I can't help but think of those beautiful dresses being ruined by chicken scratches.
