The Many Worlds Theory

If the Many Worlds Theory of quantum physics is correct, that all possibilities are possible, then there’s a world where Bernie Sanders won the Democratic candidacy and the election, Imagine it.

If Bernie stuck to his agenda, and he probably did because he’s a no bullshit kind of politician, then in his first six months in office, he managed to push through universal health care in the same way that Obama pushed through Obamacare, by bypassing a do-nothing repug congress. Medicare for all. A human right. And maybe he even got his free tuition thing passed and forgave all those kids who are facing a hundred grand or more of college/grad school debt. Radical, right? And maybe that upper one percent of uber wealthy individuals and corporations now face the biggest tax bill ever – called, this is what you owe!

 There are moments in my day when I actually envision this reality – and embrace it. Then I remember that the debates were stacked in Clinton’s favor, thanks in large part to Dennie Wasserman Schultz, and that at some point MSNBC got the call from higher ups that Clinton should be the candidate. That was sad and pathetic, really. I would love to see a female president – but give me an Elizabeth Warren from Massachusetts, an Amy Klobuchar from Minnesota, not a tired Clinton with too much baggage. Yeah, Clinton had the experience, she’s smart, she’s savvy, she knows how politics works. But she lacked Bernie’s vision and his passion, that most of all.

I know others have said this, but it bears repeating. Bernie would have beat Trump, even with the Russian hacking, because he had the powerful youth vote, those twenty and thirty somethings who are drowning in college and grad school debt, and who, under this administration, won’t be able to afford basic health care if the repug health care bill passes.

Trump and his infantile administration is setting this country back by fifty years, maybe more. How is isolationism a plus? Why should we bond with Russia on cyber security? Putin is a despot like Hitler, Pinochet, Mussolini, Maduro, and, yes, like Trump.

Do we, collectively, as a country, a nation, need Trump for some esoteric reason that should be obvious – but isn’t? Isn’t the whole Russia connection so obvious now that we can proceed with impeachment? With unfit to serve? If he’s impeached or deposed, of course, then we have Pense, OMG and WTF, worse by far, but more subtle and we should all be watching The Handmaid‘s Tale to find out how that would be. The entire Trump administration should be thrown out. Give us a new election.

That’s the Many Worlds Theory I’m advocating for now.

A Probable Neighborhood?

After hearing us on Whitley Strieber’s Dreamland, Carol McElheney wrote us about a baffling experience she had in 2002. It seems to  involve probabilities in Riverside, California, a place she had once lived and knew well.

“In 2002 I went to Perris CA for a herding trial with my dog Tycho. We were staying in Hemet in a hotel. It was raining really hard even as we arrived in the area on Friday evening. As we were dropping down the hill into the valley, I thought about visiting my grandparents’ graves; just then the smell of cigar smoke filled my car. Memories of my Grandpa.

“Each day’s trial only took a few minutes, so Saturday I decided to visit Riverside. It was still raining really hard, to the point of interfering with visibility. I got to Riverside (15 min away) and went to where the cemetery was supposed to be, and found an empty weedy lot surrounded by chain link.

“I had a paper map (no cell phones back then) and drove around for a minute, looking. No cemetery. I had been there quite a few times to put flowers on my grandparents’ graves, but now it did not exist. Next I tried to find my Grandma’s house. The street and numbers were there but the big Tudor house with the tall trees was gone. It was a bunch of newer houses. The numbers fit, but the street looked nothing like I remembered. There were tall trees there, so I can’t see how they could have torn down Grandma’s house, cut down her trees, and built those houses and put in mature trees on a paved street with sidewalks. My aunt’s house was gone. The whole terrain was altered.

“Next I decided to look at MY old house. I lived on a cul-de-sac so certainly I’d see something familiar. Nope. Numbers were right but my old craftsman bungalow was gone, replaced with another old house. All this time it was raining really hard. On a Saturday, early afternoon, I did not see another car or human being out and about. Even with the rain, someone would be out shopping, you’d think. I had the feeling that if I got out of my vehicle I’d disappear forever.

“I decided I’d seen enough. I took Magnolia Blvd to University to get back to the freeway to return to Hemet. University Ave used to be a vibrant boulevard catering to UCR students; bookstores, restaurants, pubs, coffee shops. Now it was a boarded up ghetto mess with graffiti all over. Nobody to be seen but very creepy.

“I made it back to my hotel safe and sound; I had never felt so safe as I did when my room card worked and I saw my stuff in my room, all normal.

“In 2010 my Dad passed away and we buried his ashes next to his parents in the cemetery I couldn’t find. It was where it was supposed to be. My cousin was there and she said Grandma’s house and her old house are still standing.”

I asked Carol how long the experience lasted and for any other details she could recall:

“I’d estimate this experience lasted about two hours. I spent a lot of time looking for the cemetery, thinking I was lost. Ditto my Grandma’s house, but by then I had an inkling something odd was going on. I did have my dog with me, but it wasn’t unusual for him to ride quietly with me. I just knew that I’d better not stop and get out.

“Later I heard about Whitley’s similar experiences, getting off the freeway using a nonexistent exit that led to a strange neighborhood. The only thing about this version of Riverside that was really odd was University Ave; the way it was spray painted and blighted, but it had been a while since I’d been there and I figured it might have fallen on hard times. But no cemetery? What did they do with the bodies?

“Another odd thing about this was the rain. I had never seen it rain so hard and so steadily with no wind. Not a soul was out and about, driving or on foot on a Saturday. You’d think someone would be running an errand. Weird.”

28 years ago- Happy Birthday, Megan!

28 years ago today, our daughter, Megan, was born in a Fort Lauderdale hospital. She was 6 pounds 6 ounces, had a fuzz of blond hair, these incredibly blue eyes, and the most beautiful skin I’d ever seen. The first thing I did when a nurse handed her to me was take in these details and then count her fingers and toes. All there.

Then I really looked at her hands, at the delicately formed fingers and thought, Are those fingers going to be typing away before too long, writing books? At the time, I had no idea what talents her soul held or how deeply I would come to value her quick laughter, her ease with people, the way she would shape her world. And I certainly didn’t have a clue that one of her talents would be art.

That elephant, the first in a series of wildlife paintings she’s doing, left me speechless the first time I saw it. Those eyes. The detail. The incredible color. The utter majesty she has captured of these magnificent animals. A friend asked if she did her paintings on photographs – in other words, painted on top of a photo. She does not. Megan has a blank canvas in front of her, her phone to the left with a photograph on it of whatever she’s going to paint, her paint brush in her right hand, and her easel of paints wherever they’ll fit.

The photo of the elephant she had looked nothing like her rendition. It was in black and white. She studied the photo for awhile, then she looked at her easel and started mixing colors. Since I’m not an artist, I don’t have any idea how she selects colors, how she sees it all in her head, how her unique perceptions result in a painting like this. But perhaps it’s like writing. When you’re really tuned in to what you’re writing, when you’re in that creative flow, the words move through you and out of you, just as the colors do for Megan. As she says on Instagram, “I’ve never met a color I didn’t like.”

She’s also writing a novel and from what I’ve read of it, the words flow out of her just as the colors do.

So Megger, here’s to your 28th year and may it be the best year ever! You are our greatest creation and we can’t wait to see what other masterpieces you create in this wildlife series and eagerly await the completion of your novel!

HARVEY

I’ve hesitated writing a post entitled Harvey, just that name alone unattached to anything else. I’ve resisted because it seems to empower the name, the event. But when I think about it, I realize this hurricane/tropical storm/rainmaker is like Trump himself. It won’t go away. And that, I think, is the global synchro here.

Regardless of how many records Harvey breaks – or how many laws Trump breaks or how many stories seem to piece together the Russian hacking of our 2016 election,  both of them stick around. They won’t fade away, move on, allow us to live in any sort of semblance of peace.

If you Google Harvey, you’ll find all the records it has broken – the 50 inches of rain, the horrific flooding, scenes worse than Katrina. If you Google Trump and climate change, you’ll find he’s a denier. His pick for the EPA, Scott Pruitt, is proof enough of that. The man is a climate change denier, who says that “science shouldn’t dictate American policy.”

Seriously?

And suppose science hadn’t dictated NASA’s explorations?

Or medical discoveries?

Or geographical discoveries?

If Trump is the human face of America’s collective shadow, then Harvey is the physical manifestation of that shadow’s destruction.

The message here is clear.

Democracy is an experiment. Right now, it’s hobbling along with a powerful free press that Trump despises, a dysfunctional congress where one party owns all three branches of government but can’t accomplish anything, and a few outspoken Repub critics. Few Dems support the progressive vision Bernie Sanders stands for, so who  are they now other than the minority?

C’mon, Democrats. Step up! You guys are the ones who established Social Security, Medicare, the safety nets that keep the country compassionate. Where are you now??

Harvey, Trump, the two are inseparable. Everything else? We’re collateral damage.

Houston & Harvey & Planetary Empaths

What’s happening in Houston is unprecedented. Worse than Katrina, worse than Andrew. The National Hurricane Center was predicting tons of rain for the area long before the storm made landfall, but the city was not under an evacuation order. And now emergency responders are stretched to the max and FEMA’s director has announced that they will be in the area for years – not days, not weeks, not months, but for years. The fourth largest city in the U.S, isn’t just dying, but may become history.

As in, once upon a time there a city called Houston…

Several days prior to the solar eclipse on August 21, we received an email from a man in northern California who was stumbled across our posts on planetary empaths and was experiencing some pretty severe symptoms. He felt it was pointing to some event that was upcoming in the U.S. I contacted some of the other empaths and asked if they had been experiencing any symptoms. And yes, they were.

Here’s the link for our planetary empath page. You’ll see the posts from Brandon as the top comments after the introductory material. At first, Rob and I thought these symptoms might be related to the solar eclipse – some sort of terrorist event in the path of the eclipse. But that wasn’t the case. The symptoms seemed to be related to Hurricane Harvey and its aftermath in Houston.

These empaths are tuned into something. They feel it in their bodies, their emotions, in their guts. It often leaves then helpless and depressed because they can’t pinpoint what it is, where it is.

I asked: Have your symptoms subsided?

CJ says hers have, but debra’s haven’t. She just posted this comment on the post that’s up today:

My symptoms haven’t subsided.
I have met 3 other people with similar symptoms. They did not know about planetary empths. Lots of vertigo/dizziness among them all.

One of the weather models, hopefully wrong, is showing rainfall between 40-50 inches in a 5 day period. If that was to hold true this would be the largest rainfall total ever observed in North America. The fact that this storm is so close to one of Americas largest cities may be a good reason why me and many others have been feeling off. This looks to be on par with Katrina.

Other empaths have reported that their symptoms persist. So who are these empaths? How can we help them develop their abilities so they can pinpoint where and when??

Something’s happening here…

…but you’re not supposed to believe it. It’s what MSNBC’s Chuck Todd recently called ‘the real fake news.’ What is it? It’s astrology, and we might as well add the paranormal, UFOs and alien encounters. In other words, the stuff we write about here.

Unfortunately, talking heads like Todd are so wrapped up in the Trump world, that the ‘big picture’ beyond politics eludes them. Specifically, Todd dismissed the idea that dramatic events occur around the time of complete solar eclipses. He listed the years of other complete solar eclipses, but didn’t bother to analyze what happened on those years. He took the easy route saying that big events happen all the time. So if Donald Trump abruptly resigns before the end of the year, don’t expect Chuck Todd to see any link to the eclipse, other than a mere coincidence.

We addressed how the mainstream media and mainstream science dismiss the paranormal and UFOs in BEYOND STRANGE.

Seers among us have said that in the future, today’s scientific community—despite all of our technical wonders—will be seen as ignorant. Ignorant of a pervasive reality, of the overwhelming evidence of the presence of intelligent beings from elsewhere. And also largely ignorant of the reality of so-called paranormal abilities. Our mainstream scientists will be seen as men and women with their heads literally buried in the sand. Not only are they in denial of what is, but they are avidly fighting against the consensus among an expanding sub-culture that accepts the reality of an alien presence, of extraterrestrial and interdimensional travel, and of our own abilities that transcend the six senses.

Fortunately, there are some bold scientists exploring the frontiers of our knowledge in these realms. But they do so at great risk of being ostracized by their colleagues.
Colm Kelleher, a biochemist and cancer researcher, is one scientist who has explored UFOs and the paranormal when he became involved with the National Institute for Discovery Science (NIDS), a so-called ‘fringe’ research group initiated and funded by billionaire Robert Bigelow. Kelleher is well aware of the fringe designation and the stigma attached to this type of research.

In an interview that appeared in an article in Business Insider, “Kelleher is quoted as saying: “The vast majority of scientists dismiss this type of research as being absolutely worthless…There’s a real aura of ridicule and trivializations surrounding the UFO field which makes scientists run a mile the other way. To many scientists, studying UFOs is really a career killer, and that hasn’t changed in 50 years.”

Scientists exploring unusual matters, such as UFOs and the paranormal, risk their academic standing among peers, and endure ridicule, scorn and mockery. It’s not just scientists, though. Pilots and military personnel who report UFOs or take an interest in the subject can lose their careers. Journalists can’t cover the subject without attracting suspicion that they are mentally deranged or have lost their abilities to separate facts from fantasy.

The mainstream media plays a major role in ignoring and dissing the reality of an other-worldly presence. As Ben Mezrich wrote in The 37th Parallel: The Secret Truth Behind America’s UFO Highway, “The lack of acceptance of outer-worldly phenomena, in the face of a staggering number of witness accounts and radar evidence—page after page of radar data clearly showing unidentified blips, from Roswell to radar tracking Foo Fighters during World War II to the numerous UFO sightings near nuclear bases all over the world—was akin to primitive beliefs that the world was flat. When history was written in the future, it would consider UFOlogy the greatest ball the fourth estate has ever dropped.”

The government and military play a cagier role, denying interest, yet continuing to secretly explore these realms. While the reality of UFOs were largely dismissed in the Blue Book and Condon reports from the 1960s, investigations have secretly continued to this day. When we reported a case in Quebec in nine parts on our blog in 2012, an array of military and intelligence agencies took an interest. In fact, an investigator with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police—Canada’s equivalent to the FBI—spent eight hours on the blog examining those posts. (It must’ve been a slow day!)

Hurricane Harvey

Hurricane Harvey meandered in the Gulf of Mexico for what seemed like days, as a tropical depression, then became a tropical storm that moved into Central America. Now it’s back in Gulf of Mexico and is predicted to slam into the Texas coast as a major hurricane – cat 3 or higher. In fact, the National Hurricane Center’s 4 PM CDT discussion is alarming. I added the red type.

Key Messages:

1. Harvey is expected to be a major hurricane at landfall, bringing life-threatening storm surge, rainfall, and wind hazards to portions of the Texas coast. Preparations to protect life and property should be completed by tonight, as tropical-storm-force winds will first arrive in the hurricane and storm surge warning areas on Friday.

2. A Storm Surge Warning is in effect for much of the Texas coast. Life-threatening storm surge flooding could reach heights of 6 to 12 feet above ground level at the coast between the north entrance of the Padre Island National Seashore and Sargent. For a depiction of areas at risk, see the Storm Surge Watch/Warning Graphic at hurricanes.gov.

3. Devastating and life-threatening flooding is expected across the middle and upper Texas coast from heavy rainfall of 15 to 25 inches, with isolated amounts as high as 35 inches, from Friday through next Wednesday. Please refer to products from your local National Weather Service office and the NOAA Weather Prediction Center for more information on the flooding hazard.

4. The Potential Storm Surge Flooding Map is available on the NHC website. This product depicts a reasonable worst-case scenario – the amount of inundation that has a 10 percent chance of being exceeded at each individual location. This map best represents the flooding potential in those locations within the watch and warning areas.

Author Whitley Strieber, who co-authored The Coming Global Superstorm with Art Bell, the basis of the movie The Day After Tomorrow, has an excellent post on this potentially devastating hurricane. If the storm stalls just off the Texas coast, as the hurricane center says it may, then Strieber believes we may be seeing another Superstorm Sandy or Hurricane Katrina.

A Tarot Synchro

At some point in late 1300s, playing cards were first seen in Europe. According to tarot historian Tom Tadfor Little, it wasn’t until 1440 that the cards which would become the origin of the tarot were first mentioned in a letter from the Duke of Milan.He requested several decks of “triumph” cards to be used at a special event. The letter differentiated triumph cards from regular playing cards. Apparently, the game of triumph was similar to bridge. There were four suits with cards numbered one through ten and also court cards that included a queen, king, knight and page.

The deck also included 22 symbolic picture cards that did not belong to any suit and 21 of them were permanent trump cards.. The game spread quickly to all parts of Europe. Around 1530, people began referring to it as tarocchi, an Italian version of the French word tarot.

Then in 1781, in France and England, followers of the occult discovered tarot cards and began using them as a divination tool.

That’s the official history.

But there are some tarot experts who believe the cards originated in ancient Egypt and survived the great fire that destroyed the library at Alexandria. At its height, the library, established in the 3rd century B.C., held anywhere from 40,000 to 400,000 papyrus scripts. Among these people, the tarot are cards are considered to be the hieroglyphic keys to life.

Regardless of which theory you subscribe to, the 22 cards of the major arcana can be seen as Jungian archetypes common to all people as they journey through life. But since the 1700s, life has changed dramatically and the archetypes have constantly evolved. In fact, since my friend Phyllis Vega, and I published Power Tarot in 1998, look at the big events that have impacted our lives and changed the way we live:

the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan

the rover exploration of Mars

Hurricane Katrina

the birth of Facebook, Google, Twitter and social media

the introduction of the iPhone, the iPad and other Smart devices

And that’s just for starters. We are more connected to each other than ever before and yet, increasingly more disconnected from ourselves. As a result, the archetypes represented by the major arcana are evolving even more quickly.

This idea is the basis for a workshop I’m teaching at the Cassadaga Bookstore on Sunday, October 8. So today I was writing up my notes for the evolving archetype of the Justice card, key 11, and experienced an odd synchro. I use my mini Rider-Waite deck for this. Its depiction of the Justice card is at the top of this post.

I took a break to pull my own card for the day – using the Tarot of the Cloisters, a beautifully illustrated round deck. I shuffled the deck, fanned out the cards, and selected one. What did I pull?

The Justice card.

The universe definitely has a sense of humor.

Will justice prevail in the trump presidency? Will special prosecutor Robert Mueller find the evidence he needs? Perhaps.

The Great American Solar Eclipse

It’s being called the Great American Eclipse because for the first time in 99 years – the path of a total solar eclipse traverses the U.S., 14 states in all.  The areas of totality are indicated on the map.

Here in South Florida, we’ll have 81 percent totality, enough so that the afternoon will turn to twilight. I just received our eclipse glasses on Friday. After a frantic hunt locally – sorry, sold out; sorry, sold out – I ordered them online, through a NASA approved site. They were sold in packets of 5 and because I ordered them so late, I paid an additional $15 for expedited shipping. So, 30 bucks for five pairs of glasses. Not too bad. We gave three pairs away, and tomorrow afternoon around 1:25, Rob and I will be in our backyard to watch it unfold.

The time of greatest darkness here will be shortly before 3 p.m. We’re considering going to our dog park to watch some of this because the area is wide open and we’re curious about how animals may behave. Not the dogs, but the wild critters – birds, squirrels, insects.

Global Synchro: Kennedy, McCain, & Health Care

In an email exchange this evening with Nancy Atkinson, whom we initially met through blogging, she pointed out one of the most interesting global synchros that Rob and I completely overlooked.

But first, some background info here. Glioblastoma – GBM – is a highly malignant tumor that generally grows in the cerebral hemispheres of the brain, but can be found anywhere in the brain or spinal cord. Beau Biden and Ted Kennedy died of it. John McCain has been diagnosed with it. Whitley’s Strieber’s wife, died of it. Nancy’s husband, Rich, now has it.

Now here’s the synchro Nancy pointed out.

In May 2008, during contentious debates on Obamacare, Ted Kennedy, the Democratic senator from Massachusetts, was diagnosed with GBM. He made numerous trips to Washington during the last year of his life to fight for what eventually became the Affordable Care Act. Kennedy died in 2009, at the age of 77, and the Affordable Care Act – Obamacare – was passed in 2010.

Skip ahead to 2017. During contentious debates to repeal Obamacare, John McCain was diagnosed with GBM and underwent surgery, so the vote on the repeal was delayed until he returned. And when McCain returned, he did the unthinkable – he voted against repeal.

Even the New York Times noted the “eerie parallels.”

But this goes well beyond eerie parallels. It’s a global synchronicity:

Both men are/were senators, giants in their respective parties who have/had served as senators for decades.

Both had been diagnosed with the same type of brain tumor.

Both were voting/fighting for a major health bill that would impact millions.

Kennedy was fighting for the Affordable Care Act that would enable millions of Americans to get health insurance. At the time McCain was diagnosed, the Republicans were trying to repeal the ACA (Obamacare) by scaling back Medicaid – the largest health insurer, and doing away with the mandate. They hoped to ram the bill through a vote with little time for anyone to read it. It was estimated that the Republican version would rob 24 million people of their health care and give tax breaks to the very rich. They needed McCain’s vote to pass it.

So then the trickster stepped in. When McCain returned to the senate, he did an about face, voted against the repeal, and it failed.

No telling why McCain voted against it. Perhaps his diagnosis drove home the point that not many people would be able to afford the surgery he had – $60,000-$70,000- or the cost of the follow-up care he will require, chemo, radiation, experimental drugs. And if the ACA was repealed, people who depended on Medicaid – the poor, elderly, and very sick children – would be shit outta luck.
