A Synchro Weekend

Frances McDormand…Three Billboards

Whenever Trish and I travel and get out of our usual routines, it seems the synchronicities bubble to the surface. That was definitely the case on the first weekend of January when we visited our daughter in Orlando, and Trish held an astrology workshop in the spiritualist community of Cassadaga, located 35 miles northeast of the city. Trish only knew that two or three people had signed up for the workshop, so she was surprised when 14 people showed up.

After returning to Orlando from the workshop, we decided to go to a movie with our daughter and that’s when the synchronicities began. Megan initially wanted to see The Greatest Showman, but Trish and I aren’t into musicals so we decided to go to an arts theater and see The Shape of Water. But the timing was wrong and the distance too far, so we settled on seeing Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri at a theater in nearby Winter Park. Megan had already seen it and assured us it was a really good movie—in spite of the title.

She was right. We thought the story was startling, dramatic and humorous with a very unHollywood-like ending. The acting by Francis McDormand, Sam Rockwell, and Kerry Condon was superb and Woody Harrelson was his usual intriguing self. Before we left for the movie, Megan had wanted to record the Golden Globe awards, but had problems with her DVR and was able to do it.

So on the way home from dinner and the movie, she Googled the awards and we were amazed (yet not surprised) to find out that the script of Three Billboards won the Best Screenplay Award. The award was actually given while we were watching the movie. By the time we got home, we’d found out that Frances McDormand won the Best Actress Award and Sam Rockwell won Best Supporting Actor, and to top it off, the movie won the Best Drama Motion Picture Award. So, yeah, we picked the right movie to see that night.

Maybe that synchronicity cued us up for the startling one that would follow the next morning. As we were getting ready for the return trip, Trish received an e-mail from author Whitley Strieber. Incredibly, he asked her if we’d ever heard of the spiritualist town of Cassadaga, Florida. He said he would be visiting there within the coming two weeks to meet with someone who had some sort of mysterious project in mind. He asked if we wanted to get together with him for a lunch, if we lived somewhere within striking distance.

Of course, Trish replied that we not only knew of the place, but were there the day before. We warned Whitley that the Cassadaga Hotel is haunted and the beds are hard, and suggested that he might want to stay at a nearby b&b. But he wrote back that in spite of the hard beds, he felt that the spooky hotel was where he should stay. Trish told him that we’d been scared out of our wits years ago while staying in a room at the top of the stairs to the left. He responded awhile later that he was booked in Room 38, which is at the top of the stairs to the left!

We’ve known Whitley for years, mainly through our numerous appearances on his Unknown Country podcast and e-mail exchanges. But this will be the first time that we’ll meet him in person. So already we’re looking forward to a return trip to Cassadaga sooner rather than later.

An hour or so later, we headed back to South Florida, getting onto the always hectic I-4. We’d barely gone a couple of miles when we noticed an oval-shaped object on the horizon in the distance, several miles away. We quickly recognized it as a blimp. We continued on, existed I-4 after several miles and entered the Florida Turnpike. That’s when we saw the blimp again. Now closer. As we drove on, we seemed to be heading toward the blimp and the blimp seemed to be heading toward us. We could read, GOODYEAR, clearly on the side of the blimp and it came so close we thought we could see people in the windows of the carriage at the bottom.

Amazingly, as the blimp reached the turnpike, it was heading in the same direction we were moving and passed right overhead. For a couple of minutes, we lost site of it, because it was above us. Then the road turned and the blimp came back into view on the opposite side of the turnpike. We took it as another sign—a Good Year ahead!

As if to top it off, Trish bought a lotto ticket while in Orlando and won $100. A great weekend of interesting synchros!

Cluster Synchronicities in Filming of IT

IT is one of the longest of Stephen King’s novel and one of the strangest. We watched the 2017 movie version when our daughter, Megan, was home over the holidays. During the movie, we frequently referenced The Stephen King Illustrated Companion, a Christmas gift Megan gave me, and discovered that the seed for this story was planted when King was working on The Stand.

He and his family were living in Boulder, Colorado then and their car, an AMC Matador, needed to be picked up at the garage where it was being repaired. Rather than calling a cab, King decided to walk the three miles to the dealership. He eventually ended up on a narrow, unlit road at twilight.

“I was aware of how alone I was. About a quarter of a mile along this road was a wooden bridge, humped and oddly quaint, spanning a stream,” he wrote in a Book-of-the-Month Clun News in 1986. I walked across it. I was wearing cowboy boots with rundown heels, and I was very aware of the sound they made on the boards; they sounded like a hollow click.”

Instead of thinking about the character from The Stand in whose life he was wrapped up at the time, he thought of the story of Billy Goats Gruff, the troll who says, “Whose that trip-trapping on my bridge?” From that point, the entire story “just bounced into my mind on a pogo-stick.” And it wasn’t just the characters that he got, but the “split time frame, the accelerated bounces that would end in a complete breakdown, which might result in a feeling of ‘no time,’ all the monsters that were one monster…the troll under the bridge, of course.”

In an interview with Douglas E Winter in The Art of Darkness, (NAL, 1984), King said, “The book is the summation of everything I have done and learned in my whole life to this point. Every monster that ever lived is in this book.”

King was 37 years old.

In the story, the number 27 appears frequently. So here are some synchros: This film was released 27 years after the original 1990 television mini-series. In the book, it is mentioned that “It” returns to Derry approximately every 27 years. Jonathan Brandis, who played young Bill in the original IT film, died at the age of 27. The movie was released a month after the 27th birthday of Bill Skarsgård, who played Pennywise the clown. The official US release date was 9/8/2017. 9+8+2+0+1+7 = 27.

As a writer, I’m intrigued by King’s use of multiple viewpoints in the novel – 7 altogether, and we see these viewpoints when the characters are kids, and when they’re adults. But in this version of IT the movie, everything is told from the kids’ point of view. In the planned sequel, the story will be told by their adult selves 27 years later.

Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House

Journalist Michael Wolff has written a stunner in Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House. I first heard about it when people on CNN and MSNBC started reading excerpts from it a couple of days ago. They’d gotten early copies. Then the news reported that trump’s attorneys had sent cease and desist letters to Wolff and his publisher, Henry Holt, to stop publication of the book.

And I thought, Huh? Really? The president of the U.S. is trying to stop the publication of a book? To trample the first amendment? It felt like Fahrenheit 451, like Nazi Germany’s legendary book burnings. It felt WRONG. BAD. Like Fascism.

The publisher ignored the cease and desist and brought the book out four days early – on January 5 instead of January 9. I ordered my ebook on the evening of January 4, but Amazon apparently couldn’t keep up with the fluctuations and it was scheduled to get to my Kindle app on January 9. I cancelled the order. Then this morning, I checked Amazon again and the book was available for download.

When I downloaded the book, it had 13 reviews. Tonight, there are over 400 reviews. Wow.

What’s fascinating about the book is that after trump won, Wolff basically parked himself on a couch in the West Wing and interviewed staffers and people who moved through the area. The white house was so chaotic that no one told him to move on or that he couldn’t be there. trump himself gave a sort of carte blanche to Wolff because, after all, trump apparently doesn’t read and so what if this guy wanted to write a book?

What Wolff depicts is what sane people have observed 24/7 in the last year – an administration in total chaos,  a narcissistic president more concerned about his public image – his brand – than in governing. A man so childish that he requires handlers who struggle to mitigate every tweet he makes. Wolff describes the relationship trump has with his daughter, his son-in-law Jared, his sons Eric and Donald, and all of it is just so bizarre that if you try to fully understand it, you may end up on a shrink’s couch. How’d we get here as a country?

Then there’s trump’s relationship with Bannon, who seemed to have talked freely with Wolff at various points during his tenure in the West Wing. Perhaps sleazy Bannon had his eye on a 2020 run for the presidency. That possibility seems pretty remote now. trump fired back with tweets, of course, about the book and how  when Bannon lost his job, he also lost his mind. And then there’s Sarah Sanders, trump’s liar in chief in the media, who says that the prez of course supports the first amendment, but that Fire and Fury is fiction, fantasy.

Sure, Sarah. And there’s a special place in hell for people like you. Just ask your Daddy Huckabee.

One thing you can bank on with trump and his people. If they deny something, then you know it’s true. They live in the upside world of Stranger Things. It’s where reality is not what the rest of us think it is, but is defined through some skewed lens where the most powerful person in the world lounges around in bed eating cheeseburgers from McDonald’s, watching Fox News, and playing twitter chicken with North Korean’s nuclear-armed nut case.

Wolff captures all of this brilliantly. My hope is that the book helps to bring down trump’s presidency.

A multifaceted spirit contact story

In August, our book on spirit contact will be published by Llewellyn. One of the best synchronicities connected to the book so far is that the copy editor, Rhiannon Nelson, mentioned that she has had a number of experiences of spirit contact. So I asked if she would share them. The following experience concerns her brother, Dale, who passed when he was just 24.

+++

My older brother Dale used to LOVE strawberry shampoo. His favorite was Suave and he would wash and condition with it all the time, leaving a light scent of strawberries on him. He also chewed Cherry Skoal chewing tobacco. Not sure if you’ve ever smelled it, but it was a very specific smell.

Tragically, my brother died when I was 22 years old and he was 24 years old. It was, needless to say, a horrible time in my life. A couple of years after he passed, I got a tattoo of his initials. It was a really bittersweet event for me, as I missed him terribly.

Driving home after getting the tattoo, I smelled strawberry shampoo and Cherry Skoal. I was so overcome with emotion, I had to pull over and compose myself. I knew he was with me, and he wanted me to feel him…and I did.

In August before his death, I had a dream that he died. It was horrible. And then when he died suddenly in November, I was overcome with guilt for not reading the signs. My sister helped me to realize that it was Spirit telling me he was going to leave me, and it was more of a preparation.

I once edited a book for Llewellyn, and one of the exercises in the book was to invite a spirit of a loved one to join you for something. So I spoke to Dale and asked if he would like to join me as I headed up to Duluth, MN, to visit with my younger brother and his family. I told him I would love for him to be with us for the day, and I would channel his love through me to my niece and nephew, who he never got to meet. As I drove north, a large bald eagle swooped down over my car and flew above me for a time, wings outstretched. It was Dale. He was obsessed with bald eagles, and drew them all the time when he was alive. I see them at the most opportune times, and I always know it’s him, checking in.

I have also had several mediums claim to talk to him, but only two rang true. In both instances, the medium said things they would never have known. And on one instance, Dale asked if his soul could come back into my life through someone else. I said yes, and when the group took a break, another woman attending the ceremony asked if she could ask me some follow-up questions. She too was a medium, and had felt his presence strongly, and wanted to know more.

She immediately started asking me about the people in my life to try to get a sense of where Dale’s soul might come through.

“Do you have a sister?” she asked. I said yes, one, as she seemed to read my aura after I said my answer. She said, “No, that’s not it.”

“Do you have a sister-in-law?” she asked. I said yes, two. Again she seemed to read my aura after I said my answer. She again said, “No, that’s not it.”

“Do you have close girlfriends?” she asked. “Yes, I have two girlfriends who are like sisters.” As she read me, she said, “Hmmmm, tell me about them.” I told her that one had two daughters and wasn’t planning on having any more children, and the other one had one biological daughter and an adopted son. She looked at me as if to say, Keep going. I told her that she and her husband had just miraculously conceived after 9+ years of trying. “Bingo, there’s your brother,” was her reply.

She told me to try to astral travel to my friend’s bedside for three nights in a row, and on the third night I would know if it was him. I don’t know how to astral travel, and although I tried, I didn’t feel successful, so I never felt the definitive click that she was correct. But I do know that she gave me her card after we chatted and asked me to keep her updated on what happened. The image on her card: a bald eagle.

Stay tuned for Rhiannon’s next story – about the “haunted” house where she and her husband live.

Weird or What?

In 2012, Trish and I were invited to appear on William Shattner’s Weird or What to talk about the strange happenings in the life of physicist Wolfgang Pauli. Essentially, it seemed that psychokinetic events would happen whenever Pauli entered a lab. In other words, expensive equipment would crash, machinery would break down and odd things would happen to his companions…but never to Pauli.

The producer only wanted one of us on the air and we both simultaneously said, “You do it!” to each other. But my “You do it” had a bit more impact since Trish was better versed on Pauli than I was. So she sat in the hot seat under the lights.

We wrote about this experience here earlier because of the astonishing Pauli-related synchronicities that occurred in Toronto, especially related to the number 137, which was significant to Pauli. When we tried to post the video, we were blocked. But now it’s available so here it is (above).

There are three segments on the show, and Trish appears near the end of the third one that begins about minute 26:30. But the other two parts of that show are also very interesting. I just watched it again and had forgotten how fascinating they were. The first is about an alien abductee and the removal of his implant, and the second is the strange story of Pearl Curran, an uneducated woman who channeled novels about 18th century England, which she knew nothing about.  Enjoy!

Astrological Outlook for 2018

The global astrological outlook for 2018 is mixed, but as you’ll find in Your Power Stars for 2018, each month holds gems for all of us.

Let’s start with Pluto. The planet of profound and irrevocable transformation entered Capricorn in 2008. Capricorn is the sign of structure, power, the institutions of government and business. Pluto’s entrance into Capricorn brought our first African president, the closest thing this country had to universal health care, laws passed to prevent another financial meltdown, increased evidence of global warning, the #metoo movement, foreign meddling in our election and a serious threat to democracy in trump.

Pluto is bringing us into a period of rapid transformation that is similar to the planet’s last visit to Capricorn between 1762 and 1778. The American revolution, when the 13 colonies fought for independence from Britain,   was from 1765-1783, and in 1776, our democracy was born. Now we’re fighting to keep those same individual freedoms.

As one astrologer put it, “we’re in the midst of a global transformation that will ultimately lead to mankind’s success or failure.”

Uranus is the planet of sudden, irrevocable change, rebellion, revolution, innovation, individuality. It also rules things like earthquakes. On the day it entered Aries, March 11, 2011, there was a 9.0 earthquake in Japan. The shaking went on for six minutes and triggered a tsunami 50 feet high. The tsunami caused several nuclear reactors to melt down, the evacuation of 400,000 people, and put 32 million people at risk for radiation exposure.

Welcome to Uranus in Aries. To be fair, during these 7 years, there have been enormous advancements in science and technology. In 2011, for instance, the iphone was only 4 years old, but look at the advancements made with just this technology in the last 7 years and the hundreds of thousands of apps that now exist.

Between May 15, 2018 and November 7, 2018, Uranus transits Taurus, then retrogrades back into Aries until March 5, 2019, when it enters Taurus again and stays there for 7 years. Look at your natal chart for where Taurus is; that house and area of your life will be prone to sudden changes that seem to come out of nowhere; flashes of insight and brilliance; and a focus on pragmatism.

On a global scale, inventions will be streamlined for commercial use, driverless cars may proliferate, and who knows, we may even make it to Mars! The last time Uranus transited Taurus,  the first dishwasher was patented, the first manned glider was created, and Isaac Singer invented the sewing machine.

Saturn. This planet rules our physical reality, responsibility, discipline, structure, karma, consequences. On December 20, 2017 it left Sagittarius, where it had been since December 23, 2014, and entered Capricorn, where it’ll be until March 22, 2020. There’s a brief period between March 21 and July 1, 2020 when Saturn enters Aquarius, but then it retrogrades again and continues its journey thru Capricorn.

It’s important to note that Saturn functions well in Capricorn because it rules that sign.

Historically, look back to the Great Depression. It started on October 29, 1929 with Saturn at 26 degrees Sagittarius. But Saturn had visited Capricorn briefly from March 15, 1929 to May 4, 1929, and returned to Capricorn a month after the depression had begun and stayed there until 1932.

In 1931, a European banking crisis was precipitated by the bankruptcy of a German bank, which prompted the closure of all German banks. This resulted in the unemployment of 4 million Germans, a financial collapse that helped Hitler rise to power. There are some eerie parallels between those events and what’s unfolding now in this country.

For you personally, look back to the period from Feb 14, 1988 to June 10, 1988 and from Nov 12, 1988 to Feb 7, 1991, the last times Saturn was in Capricorn. What was going on in your life at that time? Some of the same patterns may be repeated.

For anyone born during that period, you’ll be experiencing your first Saturn return – it happens 3 times if we live to be 90. These returns usually coincide with major life events- a move, marriage, career start, change jobs, get married or divorced, start families. The first one is often the most challenging.

The second return, between the ages of 58-60, is supposed to be rewarding but that also depends on how you’ve lived up until then. For actor Kevin Spacey, 58, his second Saturn return revealed his pattern of sexual harassment that went back decades and basically ended his career.

For a lot of Saturn’s journey through Capricorn, events that unfold will culminate on or around January 12, 2020, when transiting Saturn and Pluto reach an exact conjunction. In other words, very close to the inauguration date of the next president.

Jupiter represents luck, opportunity, expansion, serendipity. Its transits indicate where we can grow – or where we tend to go too far. While it’s in Scorpio, the most secretive sign, Jupiter will expose things that are hidden and do so in a big way. Jupiter entered Scorpio on October 10, 2017 and stays there until November 8 , 2018. The last time Jupiter was in Scorpio was between late October 2005 and late November 2006. Here’s a quick look at the kinds of things that were exposed:

-That the National Security Agency (NSA) had been intercepting Americans’ phone calls and Internet communications.

-That ATT was cooperating with the illegal surveillance. It installed a fiber optic splitter at its facility at 611 Folsom Street in San Francisco that made copies of all emails web browsing and other Internet traffic to and from AT&T customers and provided those copies to the NSA. This copying includes both domestic and international Internet activities of AT&T customers. In other words, the entire country had been wiretapped.

The biggest sex scandal during Jupiter’s last transit of Scorpio involved Congressman Mark Foley and his instant messages with teenage congressional pages. Other scandals involved ex-lobbyist Jack Abramoff, Louisiana Democratic representative William Jefferson, Randy “Duke” Cunningham, Tom DeLay and Bob Ney.

On October 5, 2017, 5 days before Jupiter entered Scorpio, the Harvey Weinstein story broke. Five days after Jupiter entered Scorpio, the #metoo hash tag was born and became a movement that exposed sexual harassment in a number of industries and institutions. From Hollywood to private corporations and into the halls of Congress, these stories have been breaking continually.

Neptune has been in Pisces, a sign it rules, since early April 2011 and will be there until 2025. Its cycles last 14 years. Neptune rules dreams, illusions, imagination, intuition, spirituality, escapism, the sea, and oil. The first oils wells were drilled in Pennsylvania in 1859, when Neptune was last in Pisces. With the planet in Pisces once again, we urgently need clean fuel.

During this transit, Neptune has made sure that our entertainment – escapism – has become edgier, stranger, more surreal, almost as if the boundary between fantasy and reality is vanishing. More information is emerging about UFOs and the government’s investigations into the phenomenon. Will 2018 become the year of disclosure?

One of the things we’ve been learning and will continue to realize through Neptune is a quantum truth – what affects one, affects all. We are all connected. We ARE the world. Let’s never forget that.

Trump: the Ultimate Trickster, Con Man

If nothing else, trump is the perfect trickster. On November 8, 2016, I had a complete meltdown when I realized he had won. I was no Clinton fan, but voted for her when Bernie lost the primary. Now, thanks to Donna Brazille’s book, we know that the DNC was rigged for Clinton and against Bernie.

Here’s the thing, though. If the democrats hope to make gains in the 2018 midterms and to win the White House in 2020, they need to get their act together and move farther to the left. The status quo is no longer relevant. Forget Pelosi. Forget Biden. Forget the old guard. The paradigm is changing and if the dems don’t change with it, they are doomed to implode.

++

The trickster archetype that sneaks up on us in the dark is  a deceiver, liar, cheat, and thief who figures he can get away with something while we’re distracted. He flips the status quo on its head and sometimes does so with a wry twist of irony. When he reveals some dark undercurrent about ourselves and the culture in which we live that we would rather ignore, synchronicity is often involved.

The trickster appears in mythology, literature, movies and television, and ultimately manifests in real life. Without a doubt, Donald Trump may be its ultimate trickster among us. He’s admired by some, despised by many. He’s reckless and ruthless. One moment he’s savvy and cunning. The next he’s dumb and dumber rolled into one. He’s the president of the United States and without a doubt he’s Trickster #1.

The word synchronicity was coined by Swiss psychologist Carl Jung, who defined it as the coming together of inner and outer events in a way that is meaningful to the observer and can’t be explained by cause and effect. The simplest example of a synchronicity associated with Trump is his name. It means to “outrank or defeat someone of something, often in a highly public way.” Like in a presidential election.   “In the card game bridge, the trump card is the most powerful card in a particular round and defeats all the others — sort of like when your needs or wishes trump someone else’s. Originally trump implied a deceptive form of victory involving cheating, but that sense has been largely lost, though it’s still around in the term trumped up, meaning something that’s been falsely made up.”

As an archetype, the trickster is found in dreams, fantasies, folklore, legends, hallucinations, movies, novels, and mythology. Loki in Norwegian mythology was the son of giants and enjoyed stirring up trouble among the gods. He could shape shift, change his gender, and was often a boisterous bully. Likewise, in Native American lore, coyote is often depicted as a trickster. His more familiar counterpart is Wile E Coyote, a cartoon character who always came up with bizarre and ridiculous ways to pursue his prey.

The mythologist Joseph Campbell considered the trickster one of the most significant figures in Native American folklore. It “represents this power of the dynamic of the total psyche to overthrow programs. In the forest lands of the Northeast and the Southeast, it’s the Great Hare, the rabbit. When you go west of the Mississippi, in the plains, it’s coyote. You get up to the northwest coasts, and it’s raven. These are smart and clever birds and animals.” The trickster is “an upsetting factor,” Campbell says, “he breaks through….”

Trump has been called a bully for his angry Twitter tweets, usually sent out when he feels slighted—which is often. He uses Twitter to humiliate and berate women, figures in the media, people of color, members of his own party, and anyone who criticizes him.

He does so seemingly to stir up trouble, which in turn drives the day’s news as the media attempts to keep up with his varying and often contradictory opinions on people and issues. His tweets attempt top distract from the Russia investigation into the hacking of our 2016 election. His tweets also ensure that he’ll be at the center of all the news. Like Darth Vader, one of the darkest tricksters, Trump engages in a war of words and threats with the likes of Kim Jong Un, the despicable despot of North Korea, and with leaders of countries that are considered our allies.

The dark trickster serves what Jung called the Shadow, those unexpressed parts of our personalities. In fact, the dark trickster is a favorite figure in American movies – Joker in the Batman franchise, particularly as played by Heath Ledger in Dark Knight Rising– and may be the paragon of this archetype.

Jung saw this kind of trickster as an expression of an “earlier, rudimentary type of consciousness.” In The Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious, he wrote: “He is both subhuman and superhuman, a bestial and divine being, whose chief and most alarming characteristics is his unconsciousness…”

His unconsciousness is an intriguing term when applied to Trump. He tweets in the early morning hours when his handlers – like chief of staff General Kelly – are asleep. These freewheeling tweets often unravel the very things he attempts to implement, like the travel ban on some Muslim-majority countries. On October 18, 2017 the ban on travelers from six countries was supposed to go into effect. But two federal district courts – in Hawaii and Maryland – shot down the ban. Judge Theodore Chuang judge in the district of Maryland included a detailed history of Trump’s tweets to back up his opinion on the ban. In fact, his tweets have been used twice before by federal judges to block the ban.

One of the most egregious tweets he made was on August 17, 2017:

Study what General Pershing of the United States did to terrorists when caught. There was no more Radical Islamic Terror for 35 years!”

The reference to Pershing is false, but the reference suggests that Muslims should be shot with bullets dipped in pig’s blood.

In 1938, Carl Jung told an American reporter that Hitler was “the loudspeaker which magnified the inaudible whispers of the German soul.”

It may be that Trump is the loudspeaker for the inaudible whispers of that faction of the American soul that feels disenfranchised and marginalized by a rapidly changing world.

Is he also the personification of the ultimate American Trickster, the ultimate con artist of the 21st century?

The Afterlife Revolution

Certain authors break new ground and usher in new ways of looking at this matrix we call reality. Whitley Strieber is one of them. He did it initially with Communion and he and Art Bell did it with their book The Coming Global Superstorm. Now Streiber and his wife, Anne, who passed away  on August 11, 2015, have done it with their newest book The Afterlife Revolution.

This book is many things – a man’s tribute to the woman he loved and was married to for 45 years, a writer’s journey into the nature of life and death and the survival of soul/consciousness, and a whole new way of looking at the relationship between the dead and living. This new matrix involves learning and using the “tools of the soul,” as Anne calls them, to not only communicate with the dead but to allow them to help us, the living, strengthen our souls.

“Out of the coming age of upheaval there is going to emerge either a new humanity or no humanity,” Anne says. ”Earth’s surface is a womb. In this womb, a baby, life, has been growing for eons. This baby has matured to the point that it has intellect and therefore the capacity to enter higher consciousness – that is, to be born. So the waters of Earth’s womb are breaking.”

Anne talks about how after the transformation of the planet, the entire species will be going through a “gigantic shamanic initiation. The seeker enters death in order to experience life in a new and more encompassing way. The outcome of this initiation will be that the blinders of physical life will be removed, randomness and chance will no longer 0play so much of a role in life as they do now, and souls will enter bodies with knowledge of their reasons for doing so intact. The living will know the dead.”

Strieber writes that because of the challenges humanity and our planet now face, “nonphysical mankind, along with many different sorts of midwives and helpers, is preparing physical mankind for the shock of species initiation, and to use our planet afterward in a new way.”

In the book, the Striebers aren’t just speaking to those of us who have communicated with the dead in some way or have sensed the future in dreams, visions, meditations, synchronicities. They’re speaking to the many who have had experiences that offer glimpses into these areas – and then are convinced by consensus reality that what they experienced didn’t really happen. It was fantasy, imagination, delusion, absurd, impossible.

I once asked Whitley why he thinks Anne passed on first. “Because she’s the teacher, and I have the platform,” he replied. In other words, he was the communicator.

And as I read this book, his reply made perfect sense. What Anne is “teaching” in this book is that the greatest soul tools we have to strengthen our souls, are love, compassion, and humility. As Strieber adds, physical life, though, is also a soul tool, a “soul-altering machine.”

“When you know for certain that those of us without physical bodies are real and that we are with you, your fear of death will end for you,” Anne says. And it’s this fear of death that keeps us “soul blind.”

Whitley, as the communicator in this duo whose soul stayed earthbound, writes with such honesty and clarity that I cried through one chapter, laughed and cheered throughout another, and came away from this book convinced that the Striebers have broken new ground. Whitley’s Communion did this in the UFO/alien field precisely because it was so personal, because he experienced it. The book gave voice to the thousands of people who had experienced contact and were afraid to talk about it.

The Afterlife Revolution does the same thing in terms of our understanding of death, NDEs, the afterlife, spirit communication, and the relationship between the dead and the living. The book may well be a new spiritual paradigm that lays out a possible path for the evolution of our souls. This evolution would mean that as the planetary transformation unfolds, the living and the dead aren’t just two previously separated halves who have reunited. They are now allies, inseparable.

PS It’s fitting this post goes up on what would have been my mother’s 101st birthday. She was a skeptic about all of this stuff. But, I suspect, that skepticism has vanished i the 17 years since her death in June 2000.
