My concept of the Rainbow Bridge was this magnificent sky lit up with the northern lights!
I really want to believe that the Rainbow Bridge exists. I want to believe that every pet I’ve loved and lost is in this poetical mythical place, planning their next life or has already been reborn.
Over the years, I’ve gotten readings from some wonderful psychics & animal communicators who have related some strange and wonderful things about where these beloved pets are, who they were, and where they’ll be in the future. And there have been a lot of pets – dogs and cats and one very special bird, Kali.
But in 2023, Rob & I got hit hard.In February, I had to put down Nika, Megan’s dog who lived with us briefly in 20211, right after Megan had adopted her, then moved to Orlando. During Covid, she came to live with us again, much to Nigel’s delight. Nika is the black and white dog. If I remember correctly, she and Nigel were waiting for Rob and Megan to cross the street to where we waited for them at the Cassadaga Hotel.
My last contact with Nika was in a private room where she was brought to me so we could say good-bye. She touched her cold nose to my cheek and I whispered, Please come back to us. I wrote about her here.
Four months later, late on June 6, approaching the eve of my birthday, my sister, Mary, died suddenly and unexpectedly. A shock. A pain so deep there are no words. 
In the spring of 2024, our cat Beowulf, whom I had adopted from my sister 4 years earlier, had congestive heart failure. Treatment and meds extended his life a few months. In September, the night r=we returned fro a trip to Washington to see Megan, I found him dead in the bedroom.

The deaths of these animals impacted me differently than the death of my sister. Her death was devastating. But I feel certain we’ll be together in another life. I can’t say I feel that same certainty with these animals. So when a woman who was a guest on our podcast several months back — a psychic medium- asked if we could do an exchange, I jumped at the chance. I did her natal chart and she did an animal communication session for me.
Beo, she said, died peacefully. He simply lay down on the bedroom floor and that was it. No pain. Now he was deciding whether to come back as a cat or a dog and she believed it would be as a cat. “Because he thinks cats are so cool.”
Nika, she said, would be reborn in December. (Last month) She believed I would hear about her and find her in the Orlando area in the spring. I would recognize her. So would Nigel. She described how Nika would look – her fur lighter, she would be about the same size.
She feels animals are reborn, just like humans, & many times they return to the humans they loved in past lives.
I asked her about Meg’s cat, Indy, who got spooked one night back in March 2024 and took off. We put out flyers, checked with all the animal rescue organizations, repeatedly searched the neighborhood across the street where he’d been spotted. The animal communicator said he was still alive and had been rescued by a woman 3 miles to the northeast of us. She said he spend most of his time on a screened in porch.In that direction, there are a lot of neighborhoods, hundreds of homes, and I’m still not sure where to start.
