Back on March 23, we posted an entry called #23,Anyone? It was about the research that writers William Boroughs and Robert Anton Wilson did on the #23. In researching this number, we uncovered some more fascinating stuff about this number. Interestingly, we were researching this information on June 23, but didn’t make that connection until June 24.
In science and math:
During conception, each parent contributes 23 chromosome apiece to the fetus. Euclid’s geometry has 23 axioms.
23 is the first prime number in which both digits are prime numbers and add up to another prime number.
It takes 23 seconds for blood to circulate through the human body.
Every 23rd wave that slams into a shore is twice as large as the average wave.
The first lunar landing was in the Sea of Tranquility, 23.63 degrees East. The second lunar landing was in the Ocean of Storms, 23.42 degrees West. The first two landings were Apollo 11 and Apollo 12 – 11+12=23.
The earth rotates completely every 23 hours, 56 minutes.
The axis of the plane Earth is 23.5 degrees.
The human biorhythm cycle is 23 days.
The pattern of DNA shows irregular connections at every 23rd section.
Humans have 23 vertebra running down the main part of their spines.
The Harmonic Convergence occurs every 23,000 years.
Geosynchronous orbit occurs at 23,000 miles above Earth’s surface.
September 23rd is the Fall equinox.
23+23+23=WWW, the World Wide Web (W being the 23rd letter of the alphabet)
In Hollywood and with movies and TV, the number also plays a role. Take X-Files. The production company, Ten-Thirteen -10+13 – adds up to 23. 10-13 is the birth date of creator Chris Carter. For fans of X-Files, remember that abandoned nuclear silo where a UFO is being held? 1013 is the number on the silo. In another episode, Mulder goes to the apartment of a recently deceased man and the number 23 is on the door.
In the popular TV series Lost, which builds on layers of synchronicity, there are a number of oddities involving 23:
Oceanic Flight 815 – 8+15=23
The gate number from which the flight departed
Jack’s seat on the flight was 23A
Rose and Bernard were sitting in row 23
Hurley stayed in a Sydney hotel on floor 23
The reward for turning Kate in: $23,000
One of the numbers in the sequence of 6 that won Hurley the lottery and opened the hatch: 4 8 15 16 23 42.
Even if the repetition of 23s in the series is intentional, it’s nonetheless the sort of weirdness that would have interested both Burroughs and Wilson.
Is anyone stalked by the #23??
marguerite – this is way cool! You ladies created an archetype with #23!
I came over from the link on your current post, when I saw the #23. I have always considered 2 and 3 to be my lucky numbers, since I have favorite #23 synchro is when I separated from my husband, after 23 years, then moved back to Louisiana, from Maryland. The first girl-friend I met, had been married for 23 years, also, except her husband had just passed on, the year before, due to a heart attack. We started going out to dances and met 3 more women,(all newly divorced) who had been married for 23 years. We all hung out together and had so much fun and called ourselves "The 23 Club"!!! And I could go on and on with the #23……
evolver.net is a great site for a roundup of intriguing stuff
oh, and i dropped by evolver.net – very neat!!! then i decided to check out a few things at wikipedia just for the fun of it – one of the things i discovered is that my birth date – august 11, 1943, is the 2[23]rd day of the year in the Gregorian calendar –
and in terms of AUGUST 11 in relationship to 12/21/2012:
"December 21 – The Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, notably used by the pre-Columbian Maya civilization among others, completes a "great cycle" of thirteen b'ak'tuns (periods of 144,000 days each) since the mythical Creation date of the calendar's current era.
On this day the Long Count date at creation—written 13.0.0.0.0 in modern notation, equivalent to AUGUST 11, 3114 BC in the proleptic Gregorian calendar—is repeated for the first time in a span of a little over 5,125 solar years.
The completion of this cycle and the repetition of the previous Creation's Long Count ending date have been central to various 2012 predictions…"
hmmmmm….
well, if he is just tall, dark and handsome! 🙂
Watch out, gypsy woman. You'll be stalked by 23 or 5 next!
"5" has always been one of my luckiest numbers –
Other than the fact that 2+3=5, the number of freedom, creativity, no idea.
All these numbers that equal 23 are very interesting. What does it mean, do you think?
Check out our version of this #23 post of evolver.net. You can find it under recent posts. Kind of funny.

yes, i know what you mean about the different times and charting – but my theory has always been that the FIRST time is the "real" time in that it IS the first one – however, it took TWO times to get her here 🙂
– anyway, she loves the story – thanks for note!
Thanks, gypsy woman! Don't know if that's what we're looking for or not, but it's certainly fascinating. These dif birth times would make it difficult for an astrologer to figure out which time – and thus, which chart – to use!
ok, lest i forget my purpose in commenting today, i'm not sure whether this is what you are looking for, but interestingly, my daughter, lisa lynne, who celebrated her birthday yesterday has two times of birth on her birth certificate – literally – she was physically "born" twice – the first at 4:52 pm when she was nearly fully delivered and for medical reasons could not be safely delivered "all the way" – so she was manually pushed back completely into the womb and exactly one hour later at 5:52 pm, was allowed to be completely and fully birthed – these times of birth, when added together, equal 23 – 4:52=11 and 5:52-12 – 11+12=23 – and if you reverse her birthdate number which equals 32, you have 23 –
you are SO right, rob – i've done insurance defense work in the legal field so i know well their strategies – and on not revealing this blog, sadly true, but i'm still laughing! oh, and so, now i know who took my ancestors cattle in scotland – your scoundrel clan! and ye'd be wise, sir, to be keepin' your cattle all locked up nowadays!!!
🙂
Insurance companies are like institutional mafias, lots of arm twisting and requirements to pay, but not always so willing to pay out, and when they do they drop you or up your rates to make the money back.
My ancestors in Scotland created an early form of insurance. They required people in the Highlands to pay them annually for protection against cattle thieves. Anyone who didn't pay lost cattle to the MacGregors.
More on topic, I would not reveal this blog to the examining psychiatrist. We might all be sent to Nova Scotia for psychiatric evaluation. 😉

I saw the movie …
I'll have to check into my life … for a moment … to see if that # is there …
