At the end of April, we posted a story called Revisiting the Straight Pins. It’s about spirit communication.
One of the comments came from Vicki De Laurentis, whose synchros we have used in several of our books. Her story, like that of the straight pins and Mike Perry’s numerous white feather stories, illustrates that spirits can use virtually anything to communicate with the living.

When my mother -in-law passed away, my daughters remembered her Italian tradition of putting, I think, 13 or 16 pennies in the casket in order to “pay St. Peter”.
We were at a hotel and only found about 5 pennies.
Well, for the next two days of preparations my daughters kept finding pennies everywhere! I even added “pennies from heaven” to my Eulogy. It helped all of us as we felt she was with us the entire time making sure we had her pennies! Even now and then we will find a random penny in very unlikely places.
Later that same day, Vicki returned to the blog and left a second comment:
Funny thing, since I wrote that I’ve been finding pennies! I guess she liked my sharing that story!
We have had a rash of deaths in our family over the last couple of months. In one case, my cousin who had just lost her only daughter in a car accident, was sobbing on the side of the road (having pulled over) when my cell phone number popped into her head and she called me. She had never called me on my cell phone that I remember, certainly not enough to remember the number. We’re both convinced it was her daughter who felt I was the right one to call in that moment. (Courses in death and dying, research into NDEs, my own experiences, etc.)
What an intriguing story, Nancy. That sort spirit communication is incredibly powerful.
since ya played with the date ya did there Rob (ya PR guy)… 4 th of the trip…. as the boy was waiting to watch a sun rise… thinking (at the exact time) of reconveying a story to the paternal side… a story of 2 consecutive b. d.’s… etched into the concrete on the north east side of that bridge… the date… F. S. f/c/ia… even the name of the bridge was so… pin point, course the sun did come up behind the clouds but that was okay…
What are you referring to??
what da ya think… “COINCIDENCE” on a bridge in the keys… M.. morn…. second in 12 hours… got ta go see the homies, key club guys, maybe together they might win the next presidential election…blah wants to know if we can guess their names…
So you’re in the Florida keys? What was the coincidence?
I told ya, etched right there in the concrete,,, what think I’m making it up…….. concrete one last year also,,,, exactly…. 13 and 1/2 apart…. it’s called a solar opposite…. .
WHAT was etched into the concrete??
My Gran used to say, “if you see a coin pick it up & all day you will have good luck!” I had a feather float down straight to me the other day! It doesn’t happen often to me, but i see Angel numbers, double & treble every day.
What was going on, Jane, when the feather floated down??
They certainly are in constant dialogue with us. 🙂
Just this morning I found a tiny rainbow coloured feather on my front door mat. When things have been really hairy for me in regard to the older three children, the feathers (generally white ones) appear on the door mat , and only in those circumstances when the big kids are worrying to me.
All other times they tend to float down to my hand or head etc and no-one else sees them or gets them in our family. It’s only when I need reassurance about my life that I get them.
Love it, Nat!!
My sister who died last year was a believer in pennies and placed them in various pockets and purses to be found so that we would not be “penniless.” At her memorial service, pennies were everywhere: on the floor, on seats, making us all sure that she was there, smiling and blessing us. 🙂
What a beautiful story, DJan!
As you say it seems all sorts of objects can be used for spirit contact – and often, like the pennies or pins, it’s relevant to those concerned.
Thanks for the mention!
You bet! You’re the master of the white feather stories!
