Full Moon in Scorpio

On April 29, we’ve got a beautiful full moon at 9 degrees Scorpio. Full moons are about completions, the harvest, the illumination of some facet of your life. Full moons often bring news, too.

This full moon and Saturn, the planet that rules structure, are in cahoots, so any news you hear on or around this date should have long-lasting effects. Another nice thing about this full moon chart is that Jupiter – the planet of luck, expansion, synchronicity – is sitting very close to the Scorpio ascendant. So there’s an element of luck and good fortune associated with this full moon.

Jupiter also forms a beneficial angle to powerful Pluto in the 2nd house and to Mars, the planet of action, just inside the 3rd house. The angles to these 2 planets suggest a potent alignment of positive energy. The moon also forms a positive angle – a trine to Neptune in the 4th house. The angle is a bit wide at 6 degrees, but suggests heightened intuition and idealism.

The full moon is especially good for water signs – Cancer, Pisces, Scorpio – and for earth signs – Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn. But we’ve all got Scorpio somewhere in our charts. If you don’t have a copy of your natal chart, you can get a free copy here.

The Blind Side of Skepticism

Over the years, we’ve noticed that people who take a highly skeptical approach to all things paranormal will ponder the possibilities more closely when such an event happens to them. Yet, as time passes, they retreat to their previous skeptical position, as if that astonishing event never happened. As if ‘seeing’ for the first time was too much to accept. Blinded by the light.

Case in point, in October, 2014, we wrote a post called “A Skeptic’s Conversion?” It was about an extraordinary synchronicity/spirit contact event experienced by Michael Shermer, founder of the Skeptic Society, editor of its magazine, Skeptic, and a columnist for Scientific American. He wrote about it in his column, published September 16,2004, and ironically that column probably attracted more attention than any others he has written for Scientific American. In it, he described his own paranormal experience that—at the time—seemed to have penetrated his skeptic’s armor. Here’s a summary:

His fiancé’s belongings were shipped to the United States from Germany, and among them was her grandfather’s 1978 transistor radio. Her grandfather had died when she was 16 and she’d been quite close to him.

The radio had been silent for decades, and Shermer couldn’t get it working again. It continued its silence in the back of a desk drawer in the couple’s bedroom. In June of 2014, Shermer and his fiancé were married. After the ceremony, his wife confided that she was feeling lonely, missing her family back in Germany and also wishing her grandfather could have been alive to give her away. The couple walked to the back of the house where they heard music playing, a love song.

They searched for the source of the music, then his wife “shot me a look I haven’t seen since the supernatural thriller ‘The Exorcist’ startled audiences. ‘That can’t be what I think it is, can it?’ she said.

It was the transistor radio in the drawer.

“My grandfather is here with us,” she said, tearfully. “I’m not alone.”

Shermer’s daughter had heard music coming from the radio just before the ceremony started, though the couple had been in the room only moments before without hearing any music. The radio continued to work through the wedding night.

“Fittingly, it stopped working the next day and has remained silent ever since,” Shermer wrote.

This experience led Shermer to conclude, in his column, “We should not shut the doors of perception when they may be opened to us to marvel in the mysterious.”

Now we jump ahead two years to September 2016 and Shermer has another column in Scientific American that makes us think that he might be suffering from amnesia. Here is what he wrote in part:

“Where the known meets the unknown we are tempted to inject paranormal and supernatural forces to explain unsolved mysteries. We must resist the temptation because such efforts can never succeed, not even in principle.”

He continues on with assurance: “…the particles and forces of nature don’t allow us to bend spoons, levitate, or read minds.” To justify his certainty of the non-existence of anything paranormal, Shermer quotes Caltech physicist Sean Carroll:

“…we know that there aren’t new particles or forces out there yet to be discovered that would support them [psychic abilities]. Not simply because we haven’t found them yet, but because we definitely would have found them if they had the right characteristics to give us the requisite powers.”

Shermer concludes that searching for psychic powers is a waste of time, because such a search can never succeed. It seems that Michael Shermer has forgotten what he wrote two years ago. That’s the problem when there’s no room for anything paranormal. When it happens, you have to deny or forget, even if it happened, that you were in awe of all that is for at least a moment or two.

Radin provides us with a great concluding quote from Mark Twain that fits well: “It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you in trouble. It’s what you know for sure that just ain’t so.”

A Merc Retro Story

One of the very things I advise against during a Mercury retro – buying electronics or appliances – was where we bit the bullet this time. Our old Frigidaire decided it was ready for the recycling plant or wherever they end up. The refrigerator part of the fridge had stopped working, with cheeses turning soft and gummy, yogurt turning runny, butter practically rendered to liquid. And no, it had nothing to do with how often the door was opened, as Rob often theorized. The damn thing was just old and tired.

So off we went to Home Depot. During a Mercury retrograde. That concerned me. But we found our fridge – a Frigidaire that was practically a clone of our Whirlpool. It was to be delivered on Friday, April 6. Initially, the delivery time was between 8-noon. Then it was changed to 1-4 p.m. First Merc retro.

Shortly after 1 pm the delivery trucks shows up. The fridge won’t fit into the appropriate spot in the kitchen, so Rob has to remove the floorboard, chipping away at it with a screwdriver and pliers until the fridge fits into a very tight space. The installer asks me to turn on the water in the utility room, which is connected to the water and ice maker on the fridge. Fine. I turn it all on, hot and cold water, just as he’d asked.   We crank the fridge and freezer to 9, the coldest setting, and start returning items to the fridge that we’d removed before they had arrived.

Finally! A fridge that cools stuff, an ice maker that works, s freezer that doesn’t clog up! Yes!

We head off to the dog park for 40 minutes. When we return, we notice a lot of water in the garage, around the little fridge we have out there. I’m thinking I may have left the door open when I grabbed a bottle of water to take to the dog park. But when I open the door to the utility room, there’s water everywhere, two or three inches rolling through the kitchen, down the hallway, puddled in the utility room.

This photo was taken after a lot of the water had been sopped up. But you get the idea.

Out comes the broom, the squeegee, the towels. Megan is due home in a few minutes with two dogs and a cat and I’m imagining a mess of dogs sliding through a shallow river of water. What has happened is that when I turned on the water to the fridge, the hot water went nuts, blew off the spray nozzle at the end of it, and started filling the utility room sink, where the drain was plugged with a cap from another water bottle.

So we got most of it cleaned up before Megan arrived and even though it was a Merc retro event in spades I have to say, the floors in the house have never been cleaner!

Poker Machine Compulsion

 Here’s another strange sequence of numbers that Michael Patterson experienced over a period of time in the 1990s. He heard Rob and me when were on Grimerica, a podcast whose hosts are as knowledgeable as they are mysterious. His antenna twitched when we mention 1111, a number that has held some significance for him.

Around 1990, Michael was living in New South Wales, working for the Department of Family and Community Services, in an office building that had 5 floors and a bar on the ground floor. He was on level 3.

He was going through a time of intense intuition that kept him safe on the roads, not only avoiding a couple of accidents that would have certainly killed him, but alerting him to police, so he wasn’t caught speeding. At the time he was working in a job where nearly all the people who had regional roles had lost most of their point on their licenses from speeding offenses. In addition to his new job, his marriage finally imploded and he moved, and had very little with him. He celebrated his new life by buying a brand new CD player.

“So this particular day, a payday, I went to a store near the office during my lunch break and paid a $20 deposit on a selection of CDs that cost me $120 in total,” he writes. “I expected to pay the $100 balance over the next three or four pays. That afternoon I developed a powerful compulsion to go downstairs to the bar. Now, I do not drink during the day generally, and never during working hours, so that was not an idea I was about to go along with urge. However, my mind became invaded by the idea to the point where I could not think about my work. Finally I packed up some papers and headed down to the bar, bought a small lemon squash and settled down to work. Not a problem. After half an hour I decided to have another lemon squash.”

The bar, he explains, had two new poker machines. These were electronic, actual poker machines that played real poker. You put 20 cents in the slot, got a hand, selected cards to keep, discarded, got replacement cards. He’d never played before but had 20 cents change, dropped a coin in. Royal flush. It paid $100. He went immediately to the shop next door to the office building and paid off his CDs.

He didn’t think much about the incident, but was grateful it had happened. In the intervening months, he occasionally dropped a coin into the machine but never got another royal flush. No repeat of that compulsion until 20 months later, after he’d relocated to Dubbo in Western New South Wales. New job, new town.

“One Friday evening, not long after I’d settled there, I’d gone to the video store and got a good selection of movies. I’d bought some wine and a roast chicken. I was planning an indulgent night in – all alone. As I settled down in front of the telly with my roast chicken and wine, I was overwhelmed by a compulsion to go out to a pub. At 6 pm in Dubbo on a Friday night, it’s not a good time to go to a pub, nobody is there. I resisted. But resistance was futile. My feet began tapping, my mind went haywire. There was no hope of focusing on the movie.”

He gave into the impulse, drove into the town center, went into the first pub. It was nearly empty. He had a beer, decided to leave. On his way out, he dropped 40 cents into a solitary poker machine. “Second go I get a royal flush and win $100. Then I remember this has happened before. I go home to a lukewarm roast chook, with $100 in my pocket, thinking I could have done without this interruption.”

Months later, he’s in Sydney for a couple of nights, the impulse returns. Now he gets it. Michael goes to the nearest pub, buys a beer, sticks a coin in the poker machine, gets a royal flush, wins $100 and leaves.

This happened again 6 months later. Same MO. The compulsion, he drops 20 or 40 cents into the poker machine, gets a royal flush, wins his 100 bucks.

Again, about 6 months later, he experienced his last pattern in whatever this was. This time, he doesn’t even bother buying a beer. He finds a 10 cent machine, drops in his 10 cents, gets a royal flush, wins his $100.

So, what the hell is going on with this kind of repetitive pattern?

As Michael concludes, “Yes I have played the machines in between times, but mostly every idly with loose change, testing whether winning is associated with me deciding to play. There have been times when I have had a strong sense that I would win, and did – but never anything major – usually around $40 – $300 once.

“Through experimentation I have concluded that without an intuition that I will win I do not. I have not had an intuition for years now, and when I have played (out of experimental interest – risking no more than $20) I have not won.

“I have had no repeat of the overwhelming compulsion. Every time it happened I responded. At first I resisted and was overcome and then I went with the flow. Every time I got a royal flush in 2 coins. Every time I won $100. But only the first time was that precisely the amount of money I needed. At none of the other times was I in any particular need.

“What was it all about? Now, about 22 years after the last experience I have never had anything remotely similar, but I have a sense of the message I was intended to get.

“There are spirits around me who have the power to do stuff – not only induce me to do things but to make the world coincide with an intent they have. They did that in 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, and 2008 in gross ways –and they are doing their thing this year as well.

“In a way I kinda knew what was going on, but confusions about worthiness of intervention and other nonsense made me stupid.

“I am not unfamiliar with strong and overwhelming impulses to act in ways that have changed my life. But the poker machine series stands out as particularly remarkable (but not the most influential).”

The Power of 9

We’re talking about 9’s today. Bashar has 9 minutes of comments. In part, you will find out why the speed of light reduces to a 9–at least if you stick to miles per second and not get into the metric conversion.

According to the Bashar website, “Bashar is a multidimensional being, a friend from the future who has spoken for the past 34 years through channel Darryl Anka.  He has brought through a wave of new information that clearly explains in detail how the universe works, and how each person creates the reality they experience. Over the years, thousands of individuals have had the opportunity to apply these principles, and see that they really work to change their lives and create the reality that they desire.”

These principles sound very similar to what other self-help advocates of our time are writing and speaking about. So either Bashar is addressing us regarding the psychological issues of our time or self-help folks are picking up on the way of the future.

But does it all come down to the #9?

A Synchro or a Spy Alert?

’Morning Joe’ Scarborough recently told a personal story that is either quite a synchronicity or evidence that we are being spied upon through our phones and computers by simply being in the same room with the digital devices. Here’s what happened.

Joe, who is over 50, decided to take up running. But he found entering the activity at his age to be a bit embarrassing. He talked about it at home, but swears he never did any on-line research about the subject or e-mailed anyone that he was going to become a runner. He actually wanted to keep quiet about it.

Yet, soon after his at-home conversation, ads and articles began to pop up on his computer about advice and products for runners over 50! Go figure. A serial synchro? Or can our devices now listen to us? I’m hoping for the former, but fearing the latter.

April 15 New Moon

Sunday, April 15, should be a very good day for most of us. Mercury, which has been retrograde since March 22, turns direct at 5:21 a.m. EDT. A new moon in Aries (26 degrees) happens that evening at 9:57 p.m., so you get to experience the full impact of his new moon.

Aries is the innovator of the zodiac, the entrepreneur, the risk-taker. She’s basically fearless. When she spots an opportunity, she pursues it. She doesn’t think about it, mull it over, analyze it to death. She acts. And because she acts, she’s often described as being impulsive, but in a suspicious sense, as though impulsiveness is a trait you should squash, smother, silence.

But an impulse is often a signal from the inner self that you’re on target and should leap ahead. And this new moon has a powerful backup in that vein – Uranus forms a close conjunction to it at 28 degrees.

Uranus, the planet of sudden, unexpected events, promises abrupt surprises that seem to come out of nowhere. Positive surprises. Fire signs – Aries, Leo, Sagittarius- certainly benefit from this new moon, but so do air signs – Gemini, Libra, Aquarius. But all of us have Aries somewhere in our charts and that should be the area where the surprise opportunity occurs.

Pluto, the planet of transformation, will be at 21 degrees Capricorn, forming a challenging angle to this new moon (a square). This could create power plays with an authoritarian despot in your life. If you feel that happening, remove yourself from the situation. Walk away. Keep your mouth shut. But because the square isn’t as tight as that of Uranus, the encounter may remain as just one of many possibilities.

Synchronicity in Clewiston

I’m re-posting this synchro from 5 years ago because there’s an undercurrent of optimism in it that seems to be badly needed in the world right, especially in the U.S.,where the trump chaos reigns supreme.

When we were on Open Minds radio in the spring of 2013the host, Alejandro Rojas, asked if aliens can control synchronicity. The question is a good one and came up again one day in November 2013, when we had lunch with a woman who has had encounters for the last twenty years.

Sandy and her second husband, George, live on Florida’s West coast, we live on the East coast, so today we met them for lunch halfway across the state in the town of Clewiston. We’ve been corresponding with Sandy ever since she got in touch with us in late September,  after having read Aliens in the Backyard. During the years of her encounters, she has kept meticulous notes and journals about what transpires and had sent us some of her journal entries.

We planned to meet at the Clewiston Inn but it turned out the inn doesn’t serve lunch until the tourist season begins in a few weeks. So we ended up at the Tiki Bar, an open air place on the shores of Lake Okeechobee. On Sundays, it’s  also a biker bar. Dozens of Harleys roared in just as we arrived, but we got a waterside table and talked for the next three hours.

Sandy is a retired veterinarian whose specialty was animal neuroscience. Her encounters have never involved the classical abduction scenario, medical experimentation, or being taken into a craft. Some of her experiences of these beings – whom she refers to as energies – sound utterly terrifying to me, but over the years she has learned to control her fear and now works consciously with these entities. She has names for them – Watcher, Marshal, John – which makes it easier for her to distinguish them in her journals.

During the course of our conversation, we also talked about synchronicity. She feels that ever since these encounters started, the entities “arrange” major events through synchronicities, that they actually generate the synchros. Her move from Maryland to Florida and her meeting George 17 years ago are two such events. This part of the conversation led into a discussion about free will. She says that even when these synchros were occurring, she had the free will to make different decisions, to go in another direction.

Interestingly, this is echoed by Bernard Beitman, a professor of psychiatry at University of Virginia, who just finished a book on meaningful coincidence. “A synchronicity presents you with an option but it doesn’t mean you should make the choice that seems to be suggested.”

But Sandy chose to heed the synchronicities and not only moved to Florida, but ended her first marriage to Jay, a physician. Jay’s encounters included abductions that were sometimes so horrible  she had to throw herself over him to calm him down.   The entities “scolded” him for being coldly objective and subsequently taught him to meditate and to open his mind and heart. He and Sandy remain friends and although he no longer has encounters, his life has completely changed – for the better.

We asked her what she thought the beings’ agenda is. “Maybe it’s about helping humanity evolve.”

Sandy says that her intent is to work with these beings and record the experiences. She tries not to judge or dissect what happens, but because she’s such a left-brain person it can be challenging to simply remain open, without fear. “The beings are teaching me to manage the powerful energy that comes in when they’re present. I’m learning to work with matter and to move in and out of dimensions, even to strange worlds and different times. The space/time jumps are my favorites.”

Whitley Strieber has also written about these space/time jumps. I think he calls them time slips. For Sandy, they seem to happen suddenly, without warning, and she finds herself in some sort of parallel world/dimension with people whom she knows. In one experience, she found herself as a convention of scientists and asked the woman next to her what year it was. The woman whispered, “We’re not supposed to talk about dates.” But Sandy kept pressing her for the year and the woman finally said, “19…” And that was it.

Judith Orloff, an M.D. and author, wrote about something similar in Second Sight. In between lives, she visits and lives with her soul family, people she knows only from the between state.

Sandy, like Strieber, believes there may be some connection between the entities and the dead. She also is convinced that since her encounters started in 1994, her intuitive abilities have deepened.

“I think paradigm shifts start as localized ripples like this that eventually spread and grow large enough to change how we think and function as a society,” she says.

If so, then perhaps one day synchronicity will be understood as the unifying force that it certainly appears to be.

Repeating Numbers

Canadian Judi Hertling, whose synchros we’ve written about before, recently sent me her record of repeating numbers and speculates that these numbers correlate to events. The numbers, she said, showed up everywhere – on clocks, receipts, TV, magazines etc. – and are usually combined with sadness.

“The event appears to happen within four days of numbers appearing repetitively. Is this a universal warning for sensitive to send more light into the world?” she asks. “Or something else?”

Are these repetitive numbers related to planetary empaths?
