Note on The Unlimited Potential Workshop

FIRST: HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!

The astrology workshop on Your Unlimited Potential is going to begin on February 21 at 7:30 p.m. on a closed Facebook group. Initially, I was going to start in March, but after looking at transits, realized that my original schedule would take us into a Mercury retrograde. No, thanks.

However, February 21 features a beautiful conjunction of Venus and Neptune and that feels like a perfect beginning to me.

If you haven’t sent me your birth info, please do.   I need place, date, and exact time of birth. My intent is to use these birth charts to illustrate certain details about astrology and your particular Astro blueprint. I’ve emailed all of you who have expressed interest in the workshop with the other particulars – about what you receive once payment has been made. Here’s the post on what the workshop covers. https://themysticalunderground.com/?p=29668

If you hven’t sent in your payment yet, please do. I want to be sure that that charts I use to illustrate certain points about astrology belong to people who are attending.

See you on the 21st!

Rachel and the Wren

We receive some fascinating spirit contact stories, but Rachel’s is one of my favorites.

In 2003, she and her husband, Nick, retired from his law practice in  SC and moved to their beach house.  Nick had a fear of aging, so he had a tough time with retirement. In 2002, after counseling, they decided that because they had completely different ideas about how to spend their retirement, Nick moved out west to be closer to their son. He wanted her to move with him, but she didn’t. “He wanted to hang out with his college aged sons and be young again, and knowing him as I did I understood.”

They had adopted a beautiful Persian Tortoiseshell  female cat, Callie, from a couple who had AIDS and were trying to find a good home for her. “She was the most fastidious cat I’ve ever known.  She would cover the leavings of our macho cat, Ramses, who thought he was much too special for that chore.” After Nick left, Rachel felt sad and depressed and tried to fill her days with walks on the beach, painting, and routine.

“One of my routines was for Callie and I to go to the upper deck and watch the birds circle the island in late afternoon.  We would sit on the bench watching and listening to the birds while I had a glass of wine.  Callie would either sit down beside me or get on the back of the high bench next to my left shoulder and neck.  At night she slept on my side that was facing toward her and clasped my hand with her little paws.  When I would turn over, I would feel her little wispy self carefully climb over me to that side and hold that hand. It was as if she knew I was sad and wanted to give me comfort. She was my anchor and my love.”

In 2004, her first grandchild was born and a year later, Rachel and Callie packed up and moved to NC to be closer to her son, daughter-in-law and grandchild.  “Sadly, Callie was suffering from a stroke caused by my pest control company.  The stroke caused  kidney failure.  I had been giving her fluid shots for a couple of years, but when she became blind I knew I was keeping her alive for me.  I called my vet and told her I was going to need her to help put Callie put out of her misery.  I took Callie to the house where we’d lived arranged for several friends to come there and be with me while my vet euthanized Callie.  All of the technicians and Mary (the vet) came to the house to assist.  It was extremely quick.  Just as I changed my mind and said I couldn’t do it… it was over. “

She stayed at her former home, grieving, for two weeks. One day she went up to the upper deck and sat on the bench, which hadn’t done since Callie’s death.  “A little wren – the same colorations that Callie had – flew to the bannister around the deck, looked at me and flew to the banister beside me.  I assumed it didn’t realize I was there and would quickly fly away.  It just looked at me and flew to my head and perched.  I was thinking the little bird must be confused.  So I sat there.

“After a couple of minutes, I gently shook my head to get the bird to fly away, but it didn’t.  It continued sitting for a few minutes. I realized that it must be Callie and I began to cry.  I was crying so hard that my shoulders were shaking, but she continued to sit on my head.  After a while she dropped to my left shoulder – and call me crazy – but I felt that she was saying I won’t leave until you stop crying.  After a minute or so  I regained my composure and I actually talked to her and thanked her for letting me know she was alright.  She flew to the tall tree next to the deck and sat on a limb and looked at me for a few minutes.  It was a most beautiful experience, one that I shall never forget.”

The weekend after that, her son and his wife came to spend time with her.  They’re animal people, so she shared the experience with them.  They exchanged worried glances, as if they thought she’d lost it.

“The next day I suggested that we go over to a nearby island for lunch.  My son and I were in the front seat of my car with me driving and his wife was behind me.  As we approached the gate for Kiawah Island we were the third car in line next to some shrubbery.  I lowered my window and a wren flew from the shrubbery and touched down on my left shoulder.  My daughter-in-law squealed and the bird flew to the door on my side and looked at me and flew back to the shrubbery.  My daughter-in-law exclaimed that she had never seen anything like that.  My son just sat with his mouth open.  I told them that was the same type bird that I had the experience with before.  Maybe Callie was trying to convince them I wasn’t crazy.”

My heart came undone when I read this story. It was particularly poignant for me because today our cat, Powder, 18 plus years, passed on. I’m wondering how she’ll reach out.

Narcissistic Moron quote from 1920

This was an actual quote in the Baltimore Sun from the cantancorous columnist H.L. Mencken. Today it sounds prophetic, but it was also appeared on the internet in 2004 whe it was applied  to George W Bush.

It was written 98 years ago, the last line of a column in which Mencken excoriated both candidates for president that year – Republican Warren G. Harding and Democrat James M Cox. Both were from Ohio, one a senator, the other the governor.

Interestingly, both candidates in the 1920 election were unpopular and of questionable character, same as in 2016. Also, there were some similar concerns of the day: concerns about terrorism, racial unrest, and a trend toward isolationism after World War I.

In that 1920 column, Mencken asserted: “It seems to be quite impossible for any wholly literate man to pump up any genuine enthusiasm for either of them. … No one but an idiot would argue seriously that either candidate is a first-rate man, or even a creditable specimen of second-rate man.“

He continued: “The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

The Baltimore Sun carried on the similarities between Trump and Harding in an article on Mencken’s column:

Mencken’s denunciation of Harding’s 1921 inaugural speech as “the worst English I have ever encountered” could easily apply to the evidence of an unhinged mind manifest in Mr. Trump’s Twitter twaddle: “It reminds me of a string of wet sponges; it reminds me of tattered washing on the line; it reminds me of stale bean-soup, of college yells, of dogs barking idiotically through endless nights. It is so bad that a sort of grandeur creeps into it. It drags itself out of the dark abysm (I was about to write abscess!) of pish, and crawls insanely up the topmost pinnacle of posh. It is rumble and bumble. It is flap and doodle. It is balder and dash.”

As always, Mencken declared Harding’s comments were directed at “a great horde of stoneheads gathered around a stand … the sort of audience that the speaker has been used to all of his life, to wit, an audience of small town yokels, of low political serfs, or morons scarcely able to understand a word of more than two syllables, and wholly unable to pursue a logical idea for more than two centimeters.”

Harding won the 1920 election by a landslide with 404 electoral votes, and he was a very popular president until he and his administration were wracked with scandals, including the Teapot Dome scandal and revelations of his prolific extra-marital affairs with various women (sound familiar?), including one that produced a daughter a year before he won the presidency.

Zero Limits

I love you

I am sorry

Please forgive me

Thank you.

I first read these words, part of a Hawaiian shamanic ritual called ho ‘oponopono, in a book by Masaru Emoto. The author, researcher, photographer and entrepreneur claimed that human consciousness has an affect on the molecular structure of water. His books, illustrated with exquisite before and after photos, made perfect sense to me.

So if human consciousness can affect the molecular structure of water, can it also impact the molecular structure of our reality?

Dr. Joe Vitale, of The Secret fame, thinks so. In a 2006 article, he wrote: “Two years ago, I heard about a therapist in Hawaii who cured a complete ward of criminally insane patients–without ever seeing any of them. The psychologist would study an inmate’s chart and then look within himself to see how he created that person’s illness. As he improved himself, the patient improved.”

When Vitale first heard this story, he figured it was an urban legend. “How could anyone heal anyone else by healing himself? How could even the best self-improvement master the cure for the criminally insane?”

The Hawaiian therapist, Ihaleakala Hew Len, worked at Hawaii State Hospital for four years. The ward where the criminally insane were kept was hardly a work environment conducive to employee satisfaction. Psychologists quit every month, the staff frequently called in sick or just quit. People who walked through the ward did so with their backs to the wall. They were afraid of being attacked.

Then the therapist went to work on himself in order to heal these patients. “After a few months, patients that had to be shackled were being allowed to walk freely. Others who had to be heavily medicated were getting off their medications. And those who had no chance of ever being released were being freed.” The staff enjoyed coming to work, absenteeism dropped off, turnover ended. Today, that ward is closed.

Vitale, understandably, was in awe and finally asked Dr. Len what he was doing within himself that caused these patients to change.

“I was simply healing the part of me that created them,” he said.

Vitale didn’t understand, so Dr. Len explained that total responsibility for your life means that everything in your life – just because it is in your life–is your responsibility. This means everything from the global to the personal. “In a literal sense,” Vitale writes, “the entire world is your creation. If you take complete responsibility for your life, then everything you see, hear, taste, touch, or in any way experience is your responsibility because it is in your life.”

Think about this for a moment. It means that anything you experience and don’t like becomes your responsibility to heal. “The problem isn’t with them,” Vitale says. “It’s with you and to change them, you have to change you.”

So how did Dr. Len go about healing himself? What was he doing when he looked at the patients’ files?

Len replied, “I just kept saying, ‘I’m sorry’ and ‘I love you’ over and over again.”

Incredulous, Vitale asked, “That’s it?”

That’s it.

So Vitale decided to try Len’s method. One day he received an email that upset him. Instead of reacting like he usually would, “ by working on my emotional hot buttons or by trying to reason with the person who sent the nasty message,” he kept silently saying, I’m sorry and I love you. He didn’t say it to anyone in particular. “I was simply evoking the spirit of love to heal within me what was creating the outer circumstance. Within an hour I got an e-mail from the same person. He apologized for his previous message. Keep in mind that I didn’t take any outward action to get that apology. I didn’t even write him back. Yet, by saying I love you, I somehow healed within me what was creating him.”

Imagine what sort of world we could create by repeating these powerful words repeatedly throughout the day.

Vitale wrote this article in 2006 and in 2008, he and Dr. Len published Zero Limits.I just finished the book and loved it! Since I wrote this post, I’ve read four more of his books. What I really like about them is his conversational tone, the stories he uses to illustrate his points, and how he has lived the stuff he writes about.

Many of us understand these tenets about the law of attraction – which even Carl Jung believed in!- but Vitale’s material moves beyond it into a realm that is practical, simple, effective.

6 Reasons Why You Should Avoid the News

And the first reason is Trump’s hair!

And now, the other 5 reasons:

I want a military parade.

Hello, Fascism. Kim Jung Yung loves his military parades. So does Putin. So did Hitler. Every day we’re more like North Korea.

https://www.rawstory.com/2018/02/trump-orders-high-ranking-pentagon-officials-hold-grand-military-parade-streets-dc/

I’m going to vomit now.

Democrats are treasonous for not clapping during my brilliant State of the Union speech.

Uh, Donald. Look at Obama’s State of the Union speeches, beautiful pieces of oratory. Your repug counterparts didn’t clap. One of them even shouted out that Obama was a liar.

Treason, you moron, is the crime of betraying one’s country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government. It’s not about not clapping for you.

 Those shithole countries.

Oh, you mean the ones where the people aren’t white with orange hair and don’t weigh 300 pounds and spend more hours on the golf course than Obama ever did and eat McDonald’s burgers and fries in bed? Those countries?

Time to collectively gag – and then vomit.

Shut down the government.

Because….it makes your fictional base happy? Who constitutes your base, Donald? Oh, wait, I remember. The racists, white nationalists, gun happy idiots who really believed you would save them from the horrors of Obamacare – only to discover they ccan’t afford health insurance now.  The ones your tax overhaul supposedly helped to the tune of $1.50 more a week (a Paul Ryan employee), and the ones who saw you as a political rogue rather than the demented, narcissistic, mentally ill man you are.

I can beat Oprah.

Yeah. Good luck with that, Dude, if she decides to run.

These are just 6 reasons to avoid watching the news. Every day, this number multiplies so quickly that by next week, there may be 5000 reasons why you shouldn’t bother tuning in. Rob trump of his TV time and he[‘ll wither, shrink, his hair will fly off his head, and he’ll be exposed as the naked emperor that he is.

I can’t believe this pathetic human being is a member of the human species and prez of the U.S. I woke up in an alternative reality. So, please, can I go back into that reality where sanity stood at the helm?

Spirit Contact

In May 2016, the husband of our friend Nancy Atkinson  was diagnosed with glioblastoma, the same type of brain cancer that killed Ted Kennedy and Anne Strieber and that Senator John McCain has. He was given 12 to 15 months to live. He died in October 2017.

Not long after his death, Nancy was going through Rich’s clothing and asked her daughters, Jen and Jill, to go through the piles to take what they wanted before she donated them. The text exchange, Nancy says, went something like this:

Nancy to both daughters: Are you coming today to help with Dad’s clothes?

Jen: I guess.

Nancy: What time?

Jen: I don’t know. I’m tired. When do you want me? Noon?

Nancy: It should only take about an hour. Noon is fine.

Jen: OK

Jill: No, I said tomorrow.

Nancy started to respond to Jill when the words, He loves you typed out on the line.

Nancy: I didn’t type that! It was right in the middle of the thread and I did not type it!

Jen: What?!

Nancy: That just popped up on my thread!! I didn’t type that!!

Jen: Weird!

Nancy: OMG

Jen: He loves us!

What’s particularly interesting about this contact is that when Rich was alive, he was a big texter. “I could be upstairs, he could be downstairs, and he would text me. This happened while I was texting with my daughters, not during any other conversation,” Nancy wrote us. “It made my day.”

When I first head Nancy’s experience, my first reaction was, Well, why not use technology to communicate?

Nancy now belongs to a closed support group on Facebook whose loved ones have died from glioblastoma. I received an email from her the other day telling me that two women in her group have experienced spirit contact. I got in touch with both women and Sandy Purinton emailed me about her experiences.

“My dad, my best friend, died from cancer after a short illness.  He was a decoy carver and carved beautiful birds.  For a whole week after I got home from his memorial there were 3 live mallard ducks who never left our lawn.  Everyone saw them.  It was a delight.

“Twenty years later the same month, my mom died from a stroke after a short illness. When I got home from her memorial, there was a female mallard in the gutter of the street in front of our house.  I rolled down the window of my car and said, ‘Hi, Ma!’ I drove up the driveway, looked back and she was gone.

“Before my husband died 11 weeks ago from glioblastoma, we talked about whether he could come back as a duck or something. But so far, there have been only some little smells, turning down the water heater and a sighting at his memorial by 2 people but not me. I’m hoping for more.”

Animals, especially birds, often act as spirit messengers. Also smells, noises, music, passages in books can also indicate spirit contact. In fact, it seems that spirits use whatever they can to communicate with the loved ones they’ve left behind.

Our book, The Secrets of Spirit Communication, will be published in August and is filled with anecdotes like these. Synchronicity and the Other Side also features some extraordinary instances of spirit contact and illustrates how synchronicity is so often a component of that communication.

Happy Anniversary

Nine years ago today, on February 4, 2009, Rob and I started this blog, synchrosecrets. I’m not sure why we started the blog except that one day in late January 2009, I thought it might be a cool way explore synchronicity. I suggested it to Rob and he said, “What’s a blog?”

A few days earlier, our friend Nancy Pickard had told me about a blog she’d started and I asked her what a blog was and she explained. That was the start of it. Ever since, Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung, who coined the phrase, has been dancing around the sideline of our lives – and sometimes right in the center of stuff!

What’s sort of comical about all this is that way back in 1981, on my first date with Rob, I asked him if he knew what synchronicity was.

Jung, right?” he replied. “Meaningful coincidence?”

And I thought, Okay, he’s a keeper.

Less than a year later, we were living together and about a year after that, we got married.

Synchronicity isn’t a religion, a creed, or even a belief system. It’s what occurs when you’re in the flow, open to impulses, unusual ideas, stuff that seems to fly at you from out of the blue. As Jung defined it, synchronicity is the coming together of the inner and outer worlds in a way that is meaningful to the observer (you) and can’t be explained by cause and effect. The simplest example? You’re thinking of someone you haven’t seen for years and the next minute, hour,   day, you receive a friend request on Facebook from that person.

The interesting thing about synchronicity is that it encompasses so much, so many areas of life. It’s a kind of quantum truth, one of the things that Jung uncovered in his therapies that can occur with your family, kids, romance, creativity, pivotal experiences, life after death, spirit communication, divination systems. King of breathtaking.

In 1975, during my first and only trip to Europe, I visited Bollingen, Jung’s stone castle on the shores of Lake Zurich. It was my goal for Switzerland. My traveling companion and I missed our train to Bollingen and got there later than we expected.

A young man and his dog were outside in the back yard of this magnificent structure and I struck up a conversation with him. He was Jung’s grandson. I said I was from the US and had read Jung’s autobiography and was, like, well, blown away by the fact that I was here, staring at the place Jung had built and talking to his descendant.

His grandson was gracious, pleasant, and infinitely patient, explaining how his parents had installed electricity in the place, and how, in doing so, he felt it had lost some of its magic. I don’t think that’s the word he used, but that was what he conveyed. We talked about synchronicity and the spirit contact Jung had experienced in his castle, and about dogs and souls. It is one of my most cherished and vivid memories.

Thanks to all of you who have joined us on this odd journey for the last nine years. I hope we someday figure it all out.

Pole Shift

Back somewhere in the 1980s, there was a flurry of interest in the phenomenon called the pole shift. There was a book by that title and other books predicting cataclysmic earth changes, such as Hal Lindsay’s The Great Late Planet Earth and other apocalyptic titles. Those books tended toward the speculative side favoring prophecy over science, largely because there wasn’t much credible science to support the idea that the poles were going to shift. Gradually the subject faded away and not much more was heard about—at least in popular culture—about an impending pole shift.

Now comes the revival of the pole shift and this time it has the wind of science behind it. Take a look:

“ONE DAY in 1905, the French geophysicist Bernard Brunhes brought back to his lab some rocks he’d unearthed from a freshly cut road near the village of Pont Farin. When he analyzed their magnetic properties, he was astonished at what they showed: Millions of years ago, the Earth’s magnetic poles had been on the opposite sides of the planet. North was south and south was north. The discovery spoke of planetary anarchy. Scientists had no way to explain it . When next the poles change places, the consequences for the electrical and electronic infrastructure that runs civilization will be dire. The question is when that will happen.
“Today we know that the poles have changed places hundreds of time, most recently 780,000 years ago. (Sometimes, the poles try to reverse positions, but then snap back into place, in what is called an excursion. The last time was about 40,000 years ago.) We also know that when they flip the next time, the consequences for the electrical and electronic infrastructure that runs modern civilization will be dire. The question is when will it happen.”

The above two paragraphs are  from an essay that was adapted the The Spinning Magnet: The Electromagnetic Force That Created the Modern Worldand could Destroy It, by Alanna Mitchell. The book was published January 30 by Dutton. A long sub-title, and the one for the essay is even longer…and more scary:

The Magnetic Field Is Shifting. The Poles May Flip. This Could Get Bad.
The shield that protects the Earth from solar radiation is under attack from within. We can’t prevent it, but we ought to prepare.

That pretty much summarizes the essay and no doubt the book. But are we to take this seriously, or is the author just trying to get our attention? Probably the answer is both. On one hand, it might take a couple of thousands of years or more before the pole shift takes place. In geological time, that’s virtually now. In human terms, it’s something out of our sight, a possibility in the distant future. Then again, combine with what science now knows about the unstable core with the unstable human domain in regard to a potential atomic attack somewhere, and we could be in big trouble.

Mitchell points out that the population of the world has doubled since 1970 and the planet is stressed. She says it’s time to wake up to the dangers and start preparing. Good luck with that when in the U.S. the climate change deniers are in power. But even if you don’t read the book, take a look at the essay. It spells out the dangers.

The pole shift could be lumped into the same realm as the mass arrival of aliens from elsewhere (and I don’t mean Mexico). Certainly either event would change our reality. One thing is certain, if the poles did shift in our lifetime, the consequences would be far more devastating than simply the North Pole becoming the South Pole…and visa-versa.

The shift would cause a serious weakening of the shield around our planet that protects us from radiation. The satellites that control our power grid would burn out in mass.  As a result: no lights, no computers. You couldn’t even flush your toilet or fill your car with gas. Not a pretty picture.

There’s also a related article out in Newsweek. It notes that pole shifts typically occur every 200,000 to 300,000 years. Except this time. There has been no pole shift for 780,000 years, and now signs from the Earth’s core indicate one could be approaching. Does that mean within years, within this century, a thousand years, five thousand  years. We don’t know.

Your Unlimited Potential

Whether you‘re an infant or a grandparent, your astrological birth chart is a blueprint of your unlimited potential. It holds vital clues and secrets about what you came in to experience and why, your creative gifts and talents, strengths and weaknesses, and how you can best evolve at every level in this lifetime. How you use this potential depends entirely on your free will.

Join me for a workshop on the astrological basics of a birth chart. Once you’ve mastered this material, it will be much easier for you to interpret how transits – the daily motion of the planets, sun and moon – affect your life. The only prerequisites are that you have your exact time of birth, so that I can email you your chart before the workshop starts, and a curiosity about who you are and how you can use this promised potential to achieve everything you desire.

You will receive a free natal chart, help with interpreting your own chart, and a copy of Trish’s ebook, Your Power Stars for 2018.

 THE WORKSHOP

The 4-hour workshop will be held once a week through a private Facebook group, Your Unlimited Potential. After each session, there will be plenty of time for discussion and questions.

When you study any foreign language, it’s easier to remember short, useful phrases – Water, beer; Where’s the bathroom? The train station? No, thank you – than to bite off verb conjugations and full sentences. In learning astrology, a symbolic language, we’ll apply that same technique in the first 2 hours of the workshop. Short easy to remember phrases will describe the archetypal meanings of the planets, sun, moon and the houses.

Hour 3 will cover the meanings of aspects in a birth chart – the angles the planets make to each other – and some of the quirkier, little known things found in charts.

Hour 4 is about putting together the entire holographic picture of your limitless potential.

Price: $40

Time: 7:30-8:30 ET

Dates: Feb 21, Feb 28, March 7, March 14

For a decade, I co-authored the Sydney Omarr series of astrology books with my husband, Rob. I’m also the author of Your Intuitive Moon, Mars and Sex, Your Story in the Stars, Creative Stars, The Everything Astrology Book, Cosmic Kids, Soul Mate Astrology, and Sydney Omarr’s Spirit Guides. I’ve been a practicing astrologer for 40 years.

If you’re interested in attending, leave a comment with your email address (it won’t be published) and I’ll contact you and invite you to the group. Thanks!

Lunar Eclipse in Leo

The January 31 total lunar eclipse is in fire sign, Leo. In some parts of the world, the totality of the eclipse will be visible. This one is a super blue blood lunar eclipse, the second full moon of the month, the first time since 1866 this has occurred. Click here to find out what you’ll be able to see where you live.

Lunar eclipses occur when the earth moves between the sun and the moon, cutting off the sun’s light to the moon. Usually, there are two lunar and two solar eclipses a year. In 2018, there will be three solar eclipses and two lunar eclipses. Solar dates: February 15 in Aquarius, July 13 in Cancer, and August 11 in Leo. The lunar eclipses are January 31  Leo and July 27 in Aquarius.

Astrologically, lunar eclipses tend to trigger inner, emotional events. This one should be positive, particularly for fire signs- Aries, Leo, Sagittarius – and air signs – Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius. But we all have these signs somewhere in our natal charts, so take note of what kinds of things happen to you today, what you experience emotionally. Sometimes, the effects of an eclipse don’t occur until a month to the day later.

Eclipses occur in 19-year cycles and the last time there was a lunar eclipse at 11-12 degrees Leo was January 31, 1999. If you can recall that far back (!) that something in particular happened, it may provide hints about what this eclipse could bring.

Eclipses that occur with the North Node of the moon tend to be positive. In the chart below, the North Node is represented by the horseshoe shape in the 7th house.
