Well, welcome to RFK’s CDC. Keep in mind that RFK has been an avid anti-vaxxer for years. Keep in mind that he’s also a total nutcase without any medical training. His only claim to fame  is his last name. Kennedy. I used to respect that name. But when I look at RFK, I feel like vomiting, just like I do when I see the faces of trump and the idiots in his administration.

Considering how this admin has robbed millions of Americans of their health care, taken away SNAP benefits -food stamps – from struggling families, obliterated school lunches for kids, it’s a joke that trump keeps talking about how great his economy is doing.

Meanwhile, of course, ICE enters American cities, creating chaos and heartbreak and rage. And trump continues his usual pathological lying, crudeness, disparaging comments about women and reporter, and spends hours in the middle of the night on his forum, screaming at everyone.

In Florida, vaccine mandates are gone. Our governor is as nuts & corrupt as trump.

I often think this admin hopes to annihilate as many Americans as possible so that the remains on the planet – land, homes,  belongings – can be claimed by his billionaire buddies as their own. Cynical, I know. But  what other conclusion is there for trump destroying democracy from the inside out?

Glimmers of Hope…or More Weirdness & Heinous Acts?

Daily, trump looks worse: more orange makeup, heavier bags under his eyes, and apparently more frequent snoozing. His decisions and those of his administration – particularly Hegseth, Bondi, Patel – are more erratic, unbalanced, and well, frankly, just plain weird and unhinged. 

Think back to other administrations, right, left, in between, doesn’t matter. Not since Nixon & Clinton with his Lewinsky scandal has any admin been quite this weird and  definitely not this inhumane or cruel.

Every time the Epstein files take center stage in the news, trump does something to distract – bombs small boats from Venezuela because they’re supposedly  drug runners,  investigations into one of his political enemies,impose higher tariffs on some country. Watch how he behaves, ignore what he says because it’s always a lie.

As a fiction writer, my sense of trump is as the prototypical dangerous nutcase who thinks he has all the answers because he has power. But he’s actually tied up in knots because of his plunging approval ratings, his terrible press coverage by everyone except Fox and other right wing media.  It makes him feel like the guy in the image to the right in above photo.

I sometimes wonder, though, if he’s the collective aggregate of the our country’s heinous acts – slavery, the KKK, the detention of Japanese in  concentration camps, the denial or the vote to minorities and women, etc etc.  Our history has many very dark pockets & right now, the Roberts supreme court seems quite content to give trump a lot of power and leeway to expand those dark pockets.

So the bigger question, at least for me, becomes: Are we destined, as a species, to keep repeating the same mistakes? ICE is a clone of Hitler’s SS and trump is using the playbook of countless dictators throughout history, For anyone who can’t recognize that truth, read up on history.

And any women who still support trump at this point? Take a deeper look into yourself as a human being and a woman. What is it that you see in him?

We the People

Dr. Russell Razzaque, the British psychiatrist with whom I co-authored the political thriller, We the People, has released some fantastic You Tube videos about trump’s mental deterioration. The most recent  is about trump’s insomnia, when his demons seem to seize him (my words, not Russell’s) and he turns to truth social (which has zip to do with truth!). His most recent bout resulted in more than 150 posts in just three hours.

Here’s the  link for Russell’s youtube channel – which already has more than 181K subscribers. The beauty of his work is that the videos are usually short, to the point, & demonstrate how democracy is being dismantled by this administration, with a clearly demented trump at the helm.

But as you’ll see in the novel, we the people really do have power — in our numbers, determination, & in our  commitment to keeping democracy!

Reedsy- What Is It?

In 2020, agent Al Zuckerman retired. He’d been my agent for 25 years and had also sold some of Rob’s books He started Writers’ House and under his leadership over the years, it grew to become one of the premier literary agencies. Al was also a truly genuine, nice guy who was passionate about his work. He knew what made a terrific book. He had that kind of instinct.

At any rate, as Covid started, we suddenly were faced with a lack of income. So we applied as  ghostwriters to a British online site, Reedsy. The premise of this business is straightforward: clients come to you and request help with books. Novels, non-fiction, memoirs, it depends on your profile/expertise  on Reedsy. They sometimes attach chapters or the full manuscript. Or, they may just have  an idea and nothing written. Sometimes they have deadlines and sometimes they don’t. They have different target aaudiences, different genres.

You, the ghostwriter, read the material – idea or pages – and name your price. That’s exactly as it should be. You, the writer, know how much time/effort it will take to complete the project. You have to keep in mind that Reedsy takes 10% from both you and the client and Stripe takes 2.9% for US payments and 3.9% for foreign countries.

In the beginning, I resented working for Reedsy.I’ve published 42 novels, dozens of non- fiction books, but I can’t live just on the royalties of these books since many are out of print. But now, 5 years into this, I love it when I get an idea through Reedsy that speaks to the writer in me. I’ve met some terrific people through this site and have really enjoyed ghostwriting books for these individuals.

Some of them ask that I sign an NDA. I usually do, but it seems silly. Most writers  I know don’t need to steal the ideas of others. They have enough of their own ideas.

Reedsy also has employees you can tap for clarifications, help, or even reach out to when you’re panicked. Prathima, an Indian woman who is quite nomadic, is my go-to person.

In between, I continue to write my own books.Silent Thunder, the 7th in the Mira Morales series and my – 43rd novel? 44th? I don’t know – comes out in Jan 2026. But right now, it’s Reedsy who helps pay the bills. But the real beauty of it all?

With each Reedsy book, I get to perfect the craft of writing!

This Merc retro…

…has been bad for trump & that makes it better for the rest of us. After all, trump couldn’t change the votes in the house about the release of the files. The senate vote was unanimous. His AG, Pam Bondi, who seems to worship him like a king and should be disbarred, has concocted an investigation that  may stall that release.No surprise. That’s why she’s AG.

She was also Florida’s AG. Here are CNN’s fast facts on her 8-year stint in that job. In that link I discovered she’s a Scorpio, born on Nov 17 1965 in Tampa, Fl. No birth time given. Just the sun sign Scorpio tells us she’s secretive, intuitive, and can be vindictive. But why is she so fiercely loyal to trump?

So there are 8 more days to go under this retro, now in Bondi’s sign. What impact will this have on her? On trump? On release of the files?? Is it hold on the repugs cracking? How can anyone, especially women, support him at this point?

Well, we’ll see. Stay tuned.

I’m eager for the next big protest day. Maybe the numbers will soar from 7 million nationwide to what it should be – double digits like 20 or 30 million. I asked Google (and AI answered, of course) how many people protestedVietnam? Here’s its response:

I remember that protest in D.C. in Nov 1969. I drove with  a group of friends from upstate NY to DC and we slept in a D.C. park the night before and were in front of the White House that morning. I hate sleeping on the ground, I’m not a camper,but that night and the next day were exhilarating!

When we the people rise up and speak out, it makes a difference.

Even now. Especially now.

Files Revealed? Or is it just another trick?

Epstein.

By now, we all know the name, the drama, how trump tried to stifle the release of the files for weeks. Now the spineless house has voted to release and so did a unanimous senate & trump immediately reverse course and is al for it so he can look like the hero. The good guy.But  that means Pm Bondi has to come up quickly with an ongoing investigation that could stall things because of…well, who the hell knows?

What I’d like to know is why past administrations didn’t release these files.

But my biggest question, I think, is about how morally corrupt monsters like Epstein & Maxwell gain so much power that they can do their sex traffic stuff for decades and entrap other corrupt players and… well, here we are. Waiting for names. Press.Maybe indictments? Is there a statute of limitations on these crimes? If not, Pam Bondi will create one.

The sad truth for this country is that a convicted felon is president and has surrounded himself with people who are just as morally corrupt as he is.

So I go back to Pluto’s  transit into Aquarius,  where it hasn’t been in nearly 250 years. Astronomers have dissed Pluto,but astrologers have not. Pluto: the planet of deep transformation. First it destroys,then it rebuilds in the ashes.

But if trump manages to stay in power for four years, what will be left to rebuild of democracy? Of the U.S.?
