Reverse Mediumship

 Ancient Mayan Crop Circle

For some time, I’ve wondered if crop circles might be a form of reverse mediumship, or attempts of the deceased to contact us. Now it seems that Dutch medium Robbert van den Broeke might be providing some supportive evidence. Robbert has been predicting the appearance and shapes of new crop circles. His visions come to him at the exact time the crop circles are being formed, he says. In the days before the experiences, he feels a nervous tension building within him. Once the circle is formed, the tension dissipates.

When visiting crop circles, Robbert says he sometimes feels tremendous energy of love being emitted. He says the energy is meant to raise our consciousness.

This article by crop circle researcher Colin Andrews provides more details about Robbert and his experiences. Although Andrews doesn’t directly link the formation of crop circles to a coordinated direction of energy from spirit groups, the implication is there. He does make reference to poltergeist energy as one possible source of the energy creating the circles. It’s definitely a complex scenario with numerous possibilities. – Rob

Does Death Come in Threes?

We’ve talked before on this blog about how death among celebrities and the famous seems to come in threes. So here are two deaths we read about today. 

 On Sunday, January 17, author Erich Segal, 72,  died at his home in London, from a heart attack. He is best known for his novel Love Story, published in 1970. It became a bestseller and a hit movie with Ryan O’Neal and Ali McGraw.  Segal was a 32-year-old professor of classics at Harvard when he wrote Love Story. 

 On Monday, January 18, novelist Robert B Parker, 77,  passed away while just sitting at his desk. Parker is best known for his Spenser private eye novels – 37 of them. He was a prolific writer who wrote more than 60 books.

 We hope death doesn’t come in threes this time.

Time Travelers at the Scottish Festival

On January 16, we drove up to Orlando to attend the Scottish festival – a great outdoor event with bands playing bagpipes, men in kilts, and games dating back centuries. Various Scottish clans – like the MacGregors, the clan that was being honored at this year’s event — had tents set up with refreshments and information about the history of the clan.

In addition to the kilts and the Scottish brogue, there were men and women in Renaissance and Goth clothing and plenty of tattoos to go around. As Rob remarked as we were exploring, it was the sort of place where you could be a time traveler and not draw any attention at all.

So as soon as he said this, it struck me that I could easily set a scene here in my current novel. In this one, I’m combining characters from Esperanza, a novel that comes out in September and begins in Ecuador, with characters from two time travel novels – Kill Time and Running Time. While I was toying with the possibilities, we stopped at one tent that was selling historical clothing. Here’s the shirt that caught my eye. Look at the tag.

Time Travelers! And look at the tag above it: Handmade in Ecuador.

My sense is that the synchronicity is a confirmation to continue what I’m doing, combining the two series.

‘My Best Synchronicity Ever’

“I was driving through Kindersley, Saskatchewan after having gone off the highway to get gas and was headed back towards it. I noticed ahead of me to the right, walking in the same direction that I was driving, a girl who resembled my first love. As I approached her, I thought ‘Wow that looks like T.’ I got closer and it was her.

“At this time we both lived thousands of miles away in Vancouver, BC but had grown up together years before in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and dated just after high school and for a few years at university in Vancouver.

“In turns out she was traveling with her sister and brother-in-law, but as we were both headed in the same direction she decided to ride with me until Calgary, AB. As we talked, we realized that it had been ten years ago that we were both on the train together moving from Saskatoon to Vancouver for university. And then we realized that it was TEN YEARS TO THE DAY that we had been traveling together in the same direction.”

Gary adds this about the connection between emotions and synchronicity:

This is one more piece of evidence for understanding synchronicity as evidence for our living in a heart-entangled world. Synchronicity never arrives where emotion is not present: “Outside the laboratory, too synchronistic phenomena occur for the most part in emotional situations; for instance, in cases of death, sickness, accident and so on. …We observe them frequently at moments of heightened emotional tension, which need not however be conscious.” (Jung, Letters, vol. 2, pp. 538).

Gary is onto something there. In our upcoming book, Seven Secrets of Synchronicity,  the second secret reveals that synchronicities are deeply intertwined with our emotions. And, as Robert Hopcke notes in There are No Accidents, “What if we valued feeling as much as thinking, as synchronistic events invite us to do?”

Avatar, Optical Illusions, and Doggie Synchronicities

We went to see Avatar today (January 9) in 3D. It’s a classic hero epic, but rendered in such dazzling colors and spectacular three dimensional effects that it bombards the senses. At some points, you’re so inside the movie that you flinch when something flies at you.

On the way home, we were talking about the movie, how some of the effects were like optical illusions. Rob said, “Hey, remember that book  we used to have on optical illusions?” I did remember, but neither of us had seen it for awhile.

 We we get into the house where our dog, Noah, has been alone for more than three hours. This sometimes means we find bits and pieces of whatever he has been chewing on – fortunately, none of those pieces include our three cats!  Today, just inside the utility room door, is one of the objects Noah dragged into the front of the house and tried to chew on:

Finding a particular book in our house is not an easy task. We probaby have several thousand. So how did Noah find the one book we were talking about?

10 Billion Beats

10 Billion Beats is an intention experiment that will occur on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 7 PM. The idea is to send a wave of sound, through drumming, around the world, to connect people and promote peace and goodwill.  In light of the quake in Haiti, and all the other stuff going on worldwide, this certainly sounds promising. From their website:

“This is a Global Experiment that will use drumming to focus a collective positive intention, then send it around the world in a continous wave to improve our relationship with each other, and with a living planet upon which we live, breath, and have our being. 10 Billion Beats started in Sept. 2009. It grew and grew until nearly 200,000 people participated around the globe. In 2010 the grassroots movement will be even bigger and we invite you to be a part of it.”

The message: Peace TO Earth, Goodwill ON  Humankind.

Haiti and the 7.0 Quake

 On August 1, we published a post about animals as oracles of global events. That post, about the earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia in 2004, focused on the apparent prescience that prompted many animals to flee days – and even weeks – before the quake hit.

It may be a long time before such stories emerge about the disaster in Haiti. The country is so devastatingly poor that  pets are a luxury and the wildlife is practically nonexistent because Haiti’s forest cover has been reduced to about  1 percent. But surely there must have been some evidence in the behavior of ocean wildlife.

But perhaps there were signs elsewhere – dreams or premonitions that any of us might have had, for instance, or signs in our daily lives that something was brewing. Maybe we didn’t know where or when, but could feel…well, something.

Between 1990-2000, there were 27 major quakes recorded with approximately 82,000 fatalities. In the last 9 years, there have been 140 quakes with about 450,000 fatalities. (Data here) So something is definitely changing. 

As the magnitude of the disaster begins to come to light, it’s evident that on an island of 9 million people, most of them abysmally poor and living in shacks on hillsides, Haiti needs help. Even before this earthquake, it was the poorest nation in the western hemisphere, a place where many people eat dirt to stay alive. 

Doctors Without Borders lost their 3 hospitals in Haiti and triage is being conducted in the streets. That’s where our donation went.

In the end, what happens to one country, one people, happens to us all.

Telepathy and Synchronicity

  In a post back in June,  Jung and the Sympathy for All Things, we wrote about telepathy as a facet of synchronicity. Essentially, telepathy is mind to mind communication, but often happens when two or more people come up with the same phrase, image, or idea at the same time.In the following synchronicities, telepathy seems to have been at work and, once again, the Internet and blogging were the facilitators.

Yesterday, we posted some short synchronicities that Healing Mudras had sent us. A couple of hours later, we received an email from Gypsy, who said she’d been fiddling around with an image for a new post for her blog, but couldn’t seem to get inspired. “So I thought I’d  hop over to your place where there’s always something hopping. I’ve attached the image of what I was working with before coming to your place…”

Now look at the similarity of the images. The first is from yesterday’s post. The second is from Gypsy’s email.

As  if this isn’t strange enough, Musing Egret then left a comment under our post that really takes the cake. Her comment was left a couple of hours after Gypsy’s email arrived:

“Yesterday I was re-arranging a bookcase and moving some old journals in a 3-ring binder. The binder opened to a page where I’d scrawled the name of a potential character, “Bory Alice” and right beneath it I’d written Aurora Borealis. What are the chances??!!”

Technically, I suppose that Musing Egret’s  find the night before the post went up was an instance of precognition. But we may be splitting hairs here. Perhaps the larger question here is about the aurora borealis. Is something strange going on wth the northern lights? Is there a larger message? And if so, what is it?

Daily Life Synchros

Some synchronicities are like vignettes or short stories, complete with characters, a storyline, puzzling details. When these happen in our daily lives, they can be warnings or welcome signposts that we’re on the right track. Both have an aura of the magical about them. For Healing Mudras,  these short synchros are all of the welcome variety and magical in their own way. We posted another synchronicity from Healing- Bangkok Odds – back in November.

The Day the Earth Stood Still

In November 2008, my daughter,  who was turning 7 the next week, was learning about space and time. She kept asking questions about the sun, the moon, the rotation of the earth and then asked me: “So what happens if the Earth stopped moving? If it just stood still?” As I was trying to figure out a correct answer, she screamed, “We’d all fall off!!!”

That same afternoon, I went out in Bangkok and the Movie the Day the Earth Stood Still had just been released.

Umbrellas
I had a dream about umbrellas – I was giving them away ( any clues about the  meaning?). The next morning when I opened the curtain in the garden of our compound, I saw a beautiful white cotton umbrella and the father of a few kids was running and playing with an umbrella in his hands. There usually are NO umbrellas in our garden.
Aurora Borealis
I dreamed of the Aurora Borealis and a solar shower. The next morning, my daughter (the 7 years old) opened her Christmas presents. One of them – not from me! – was two fabulous children’s books about space and galaxies. My friend said, “Hey look! It’s an Aurora Borealis!.”

The Body Speaks

Our bodies can sometimes be vehicles of or expressions for synchronicity. A physical problem  may actually be addressing an emotional situation in our lives – a topic that Louise Hay covers extensively in You Can Heal Your Life. It’s also possible that a physical flareup that restricts our movements may be protecting us from something that isn’t obvious until later. Such was the case for friends who have a second home in North Carolina. For reasons that become obvious as you read their story, they asked that we not use their real names. So we’ll call them Nick and Nora Charles – the characters from the imagination of Dashiell Hammet! Nora is telling the story:

We were gearing up for a trip to NC that would have started today at 4AM, but instead my back went out and we found ourselves wondering if we would be spending the day in the hospital. Nick had just gotten a call from his brother that he was already at the ER because of a kidney stone, and I was unable to get up from the pain, but did finally because the choice of peeing in my bed or on the way to bathroom looked better if I at least made the effort. I did make it, only to black out on toilet. Talk about feeling like crap. Just as I sure the cool of the tile floor would wake me, Nick got back from taking the kids to school, checking on his brother and help me back to bed.

We went to our friend the chiropractor who took two X-rays that showed no bone cracks or bulging disks — leaving it all to server muscle cramp. An injection of muscle relaxer and several treatments with ultra sounds left me able to finally move on my own instead of forming a conga line with Nick leading and Linz (daughter) following in case I fell forward or backwards.

This morning it was very stiff, but I was able to move on my own again. I can’t tell you how much good for the spirit this — just open today’s email and saw a weather bug alert. It seems the very road we would have been traveling to NC cabin is blocked by 8 to 12 inches of snow!

Again the Polly-Anna comes forth, and I do believe someone was looking out for us by delaying our trip a few days. Our other daughter is safe at her girlfriend’s parent’s house over the weekend, as the road she would taken had even more snow on it.
