Owls, UFOs, and Blogging

I’ve often thought that the Internet – blogging in particular – is an environment that fosters synchronicity. This next story seems to support that theory.

On September 30, we posted a story called The Owl and the Money Clip, a synchronicity that had been sent to us by Jim Banzholder of Idaho.

Stacey Warner left a comment about an experience she had with owls. A couple of years ago, Stacey “had the privilege to spend time in a giant owls “nest” for lack of a better word, with over thirty barn and horned owls watching me…it was one of the most profound moments of my life!”

Her comment attracted the attention of Mike Clelland, who also lives in Idaho, and has had a slew of owl experiences recently. We recently posted one of his synchronicities. Anyway, when he read that Stacey had spent the night beneath the stare of more than 30 owls, his interest was piqued. Only a few days before, he had posted a request on his blog for stories about sightings of owls in groups of three or five. “So – I ask a question, and I get a wallop of an answer.” He shot off an email to her.

Owls, in addition to being seen as messengers, are sometimes associated with UFO sightings and abductions, and Mike was particularly interested to know if Stacey had had any UFO experience on or around the time of her “30 owls” experience. She said that she had:

from Stacey:
“So to add to the story … (after seeing the owls) Well into the night and with the veils of perception solidly back in place, we left. I drove. We were back on the two-way highway when I saw what looked like a streetlight up ahead but as we approached it, I realized the light wasn’t attached to anything and then it flew over our heads.”

Stacey was with a friend, Christian, who noted it “landed back there.” She asked what it was, he said he didn’t know.

“Do you want to stop?” she asked.

“Yeah.”

“I stopped the car and backed into a vacant lot that was used for selling produce during the harvest season. It was pitch black and we were out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by olive groves. As we got out of the car Christian asked, “If they want to take us would you go?”

“Yes, as long as time stood still,” I said not sure if it were true.

“We walked down the middle of the two-lane highway cloaked in darkness when we heard a loud rumble like a semi-truck heading straight for us. We looked at each and ran for our lives back to the car. As I opened my car door whatever-it-was flew over our heads and then vanished into thin air.”

They got back in the car and drove off, both of them silent, not sure what they had seen, thinking it was too “fantastical” to be named. By naming it, Stacey felt they would own it, and they weren’t ready to own it.

“As we got back on the Interstate Five, Christian put his hand on my shoulder. It felt familiar like it had been there my entire life. I felt supported and loved beyond a first kiss like we had been married for years. Christian fell asleep and I wondered how many dragons he’d slain that day.
+++
Stacey in her comments to Mike also said:

My friend Marla (who interviews for Whitley Streiber on Unknowncountry) has great stories to tell … she’s tapped in.
+++

So after reading the above story, Mike is “getting wigged out.” Not only has Stacey confirmed a connection between owls and UFOs, but it turns out that the next day, he is scheduled to have a reading with Marla Frees, the psychic to whom Stacey referred.

So here we have a layered synchronicity that begins with a story about an owl and a money clip, leads to shared experiences about owls and UFO sightings, and psychic Marla Frees.

The Coso Artifact

When I first ran across the story about the Coso artifact, it struck me as bizarre, but I wondered if it qualified as a synchronicity. Now I think the synchronicity lies in what the artifact may reveal about life half a million years ago.
+++
Geodes look like ordinary stones, but their cavities are often a self-contained world of brilliantly colored crystals and minerals. When a geode is carefully sawed in half, it’s a prize coveted by rock collectors. So in 1961, three co-owners of a gem and stone shop in Olancha, California traveled six miles northeast to the Coso Mountains to go rock hunting.

Near the top of of a 4,300 foot peak that overlooked the dry bed of Owens Lake, they found a geode encrusted with fossils. Mike Miskell, one of the owners of the shop, cut it open with a diamond blade saw and was astonished to find something that resembled a spark plug.

In the middle of the geode was a metal core about two millimeters in diameter. It was enclosed by what appeared to be a ceramic collar that was encased in a hexagonal sleeve carved out of wood that had petrified. Encircling this was the outer layer of the geode that consisted of bits of fossil shells, hardened clay, pebbles, and “two nonmagnetic metallic objects resembling a nail and a washer.” A copper fragment remained between the ceramic and petrified wood that suggested the two may have been separated at one point by the decomposed copper sleeve.

X-rays were taken of the object and Paul Willis, the editor of INFO Journal, was the first to notice the similarity between the Coso artifact and a modern spark plug. The Coso geode was exhibited for several months at the Eastern California Museum in Independence, then Wally Lane, one of the shop owners, apparently took possession of it and in 1969, put it up for sale for $25,000.

In the original report on the find, an unnamed geologist estimated that the geode, based on the fossils it contained, was half a million years old. Not surprisingly, there’s some controversy about this. If you Google Coso artifact, you’ll see the theories range from: a 1920s era Champion spark plug commonly used in Ford’s Model T; something left from an advanced civilization like Atlantis; evidence of prehistoric ET visitors;and evidence that time travelers from the future left it behind.

Unfortunately, the mystery remains unsolved. The location of the Coso artifact is unknown. Of the three men who discovered it, one is dead, the whereabouts of the others are unknown, and the sole survivor refuses pubic comment.

Kissing the Limitless

Here’s a cool synchro/serendipitous tale from T. Thorn Coyle, author of Kissing the Limitless: Deep Magic and the Great Work of Transforming Yourself and the World. She uses the term serendipity, which refers to something unintended, unexpected and beneficial resulting from an action. Usually, one or more synchronicities can be found within a serendipitous experience. It also usually involves being in the right place at the right time, which is where serendipity meets synchronicity.

Thorn posted this story originally on 10/15.
+++

There have been many occurrences in my life that one could call serendipitous and they only seem to be increasing as of late. Serendipity is an accidental discovery of fortune, (or an accidental, fortunate discovery!) and synchronicity that confluence of events caused by “being in the right place at the right time.” But really I think this could be rephrased as “being present in the right place at the right time.” Or we could give that first word a capital “B” instead. Being: present in all of one’s parts, connected with animal, human, and divine, with time and space, with the energies of life, living fully in the moment. Lo and behold, fortune is in front of us!

A few months ago while buying an airplane book in the Denver airport, I was waiting in line, breathing, doing some practice – not in any hurry, just connecting with breath and center – when the man behind the counter said something like, “It won’t be long, ma’am.” I felt surprised that he had thought to speak, because my sense was that I had been waiting quietly. I assured him I was in no hurry. After I paid, I took a postcard for Kissing the Limitless out of my bag and quickly put it on the counter, asking if he could help get it in the store. He seemed happy to take it and I went on my way.

Today I got a note from him on Facebook, asking to add me to his list of friends. He only worked at that bookshop for one month – as he put it, “probably so he could get that card” – but has since been spreading the word about Kissing the Limitless to others. You see, among his other talents, he designed this Tarot deck.

Turns out we have some interests in common.

Looking back on the event now, my thought is that he assured me it would not be long in order to make a connection of energy and attention with me. Because of that connection, I gave him the postcard. Because of that postcard… who knows what will appear in both our lives? Who knows what wyrd is winding?

Had I not been present in that moment, this delightful little confluence would have passed me by. But it doesn’t mean the possibility was not there all along.

Serendipity happens. Good fortune comes to those who pay attention. Are we open?

Soupy Sales and the Bronx Brothers

Here’s one courtesy of reader Rodney Small. A kind of pie in the eye tale. Happy trails, Soupy Sales.
***

On Thursday night in the Bronx, NY, comedian Soupy Sales died. Sales was best known for putting pies in the faces of celebrities.

Meanwhile, in Los Angeles Thursday night, the baseball team from the Bronx — the New York Yankees — lost to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, 7-6. The person most responsible for last night’s Yankees loss? Pitcher A.J. Burnett, who gave up six of the seven Angel runs. And what is Burnett’s nickname? “The Pie Man.”

Is this man in your dreams?

Ever dreamed of this guy?

Well, apparently 2000 people worldwide have in the last three years. And now there’s a website where you can share your stories. The site also offers several theories and the history of how/when this began. The information below is taken from the site. The other two photos are also taken from the site, where flyers of this guy have appeared in other cities. These two are from Havana and London.

So: is this some hoax? Or is it for real?

HISTORY

In January 2006 in New York, the patient of a well-known psychiatrist draws the face of a man that has been repeatedly appearing in her dreams. In more than one occasion that man has given her advice on her private life. The woman swears she has never met the man in her life.

That portrait lies forgotten on the psychiatrist’s desk for a few days until one day another patient recognizes that face and says that the man has often visited him in his dreams. He also claims he has never seen that man in his waking life.

The psychiatrist decides to send the portrait to some of his colleagues that have patients with recurrent dreams. Within a few months, four patients recognize the man as a frequent presence in their own dreams. All the patients refer to him as THIS MAN.

From January 2006 until today, at least 2000 people have claimed they have seen this man in their dreams, in many cities all over the world: Los Angeles, Berlin, Sao Paulo, Tehran, Beijing, Rome, Barcelona, Stockholm, Paris, New Dehli, Moskow etc.

At the moment there is no ascertained relation or common trait among the people that have dreamed of seeing this man. Moreover, no living man has ever been recognized as resembling the man of the portrait by the people who have seen this man in their dreams.

Some theories
ARCHETYPE THEORY
According to Jung’s psychoanalytic theory, this man is an archetypal image belonging to the collective unconscious that can surface in times of hardship (emotional development, dramatic changes in our lives, stressful circumstances etc.) in particularly sensitive subjects.

RELIGIOUS THEORY
According to this theory this man is the image of the Creator, that is to say one of the forms in which God manifests himself today. This is the reason why his indications and the words he utters during the dreams should be decidedly followed by the dreamers.

DREAM SURFER THEORY
It is the most interesting theory and the one that has the greatest implications, but it has also the lowest scientific credibility. According to this theory this man is a real person, who can enter people’s dreams by means of specific psychological skills. Some believe that in real life this man looks like the man in the dreams. Others think that the man in the dreams looks completely different from his real life counterpart. Some people seem to believe that behind this man there is a mental conditioning plan developed by a major corporation.

DREAM IMITATION THEORY
This is a scientific psycho-sociological theory which claims that this phenomenon has arisen casually and has progressively developed by imitation. Basically when people are exposed to this phenomenon they become so deeply impressed that they start seeing this man in their dreams.

DAYTIME RECOGNITION THEORY
This theory states that the apparitions of this man are purely casual. Normally we do not remember precisely the faces we see in our dreams. The image of this man would thus be an instrument which, in the subject’s waking life, facilitates recognition of an undefined oneirical image.

UPDATE: FlashForward and 137

In the September 27 post, we discussed the new ABC series, FlashForward and the number 137. The premise of the series is that for 137 seconds, everyone on the planet blacks out and has a vision of their lives six months in the future. Since 137 has such intriguing connotations (covered in a previous post), we decided to keep watching the series.

In the third episode, the FBI agent in charge of the investigation into what actually happened during the FlashForward, follows a lead to Germany, where an incarcerated Nazi war criminal claims he knows why everyone blacked out for 137 seconds. He proceeds to scribble the word Kaballah, and illustrates that in Gematria, a Jewish numerology system, the word equals 137.

Whether the writers of the show take this any farther – like into the number as the DNA of light, as Wolfgang Pauli’s death number, remains to be seen!

Wild Wives & Precognitive Dreams

On the nights of

On the nights of October 16-17, I had dreams that feel precognitive – but could just be my imagination gearing up for starting a new novel.

In the first, I’m shown the cover of a book – green and white, with the title in shiny black letters across the front of it: Wild Wives. Large letters.

In the dream, I laugh about the title, then am “told” it’s a novel that has become a runaway bestseller. And no, it’s not the title of my new novel! An Amazon check turned up a novel by that name by Charles Willeford, published in 2006. Years ago, Willeford and I had the same editor for awhile at Ballantine Books. But Willeford died in 1988, several years before our editor also passed on.

The second dream occurred early in the morning, a time when I’ve had precognitive dreams in the past. On a large dark screen of some kind – a movie screen? – these huge, thick white letters appear:

October 2009 to May 2010= catastrophe

It may have been a personal warning, but it didn’t feel personal, as these dreams have felt in the past. It felt global. The white letters were curious. I don’t recall ever dreaming anything in white. Both dreams involved a written message.

Granted, the globe has its share of ongoing catastrophes -Iraq, Afghanistan, health care, the economy, bailouts, and all the rest of it. There are many personal catastrophes that we read about daily. But as far as I know, there are no Katrinas right now, no Indonesian tsunamis, no 9-11s, no huge 24/7 mass events.

But if a new novel is published called Wild Wives, that becomes a runaway bestseller, then I’m going to start worrying.

Has anyone else had recent dreams about catastrophes? If so, what are the specifics? The details?

– Trish

Surprise atop the Pyramid

photo from: www.virtualtourist.com

Here’s a story from Jonathan Phillips, who first posted it on Evolver.net. It involves an interesting synchronicity that was revealed by author Graham Hancock at a 4-day event earlier this month in Utah, sponsored by Reality Sandwich, called: The Supernatural – Exploring Other Dimensions.

***

The RS retreat was a truly galactic and trans-dimensional adventure with Lisa Renee and Graham Hancock. I thought I’d share one quick story/synchronicity with fellow Evolvers who couldn’t make it out to Boulder, Utah.

While Graham was giving his “Lost Civilizations” presentation, talking about sunken Atlantis-like cities, he discussed how the Sphinx in Giza may be much older than we think. He also described how the pyramids align with Orion, giving us a sort of monumental calendar of when they were built.

As Graham continued the slideshow presentation, he showed us a picture of himself climbing the great pyramid (which took quite a bit of finagling with the local authorities). At the top, he noticed graffiti throughout the centuries, including some more recent marks. One of them had the name P. Hancock with a specific date in 1916 (April, I believe). Graham’s grandfather was named Peter or Phillip (sorry, I don’t remember which).

When Graham got down from the pyramid, he called his dad and asked him to look in his grandfather’s journal for the specific date marked on the calendar. As it turned out, his grandfather had written about being in Egypt and visiting the pyramids on the exact date that the graffiti was made.

What are the chances?

***

Another participant at the retreat adds this about Hancock’s talk:

“What I remember Graham saying is that when his father looked in his grandfather’s journal, on that specific date, it read “climbed the great pyramid”. It certainly nailed it as his grandfather’s mark. What an amazing time in Utah!”

The Tailor’s Tale

This story comes from a man residing in the Albany, N.Y. area. Because of the intimate nature of the story, he asked us not to use his name. He calls himself Marlow’s ghost. We’re assuming he’s referring to Christopher Marlowe (1564-1593), the Elizabethan playwright and poet who is sometimes referred to as Shakespeare’s ghostwriter.
+++
“For over a decade my wife and I have been growing apart. Actually, she has been withdrawing from me without explanation leaving me quite depressed and mystified. She exhibits unexplained and hateful rages, controlling behavior, isolation from our friends and almost a complete (uncalled for) lack of trust. This has been very painful as we have two young children as a captive audience. She has also refused my pleas for marital counseling.

“Well, over a year ago I had stopped at a quaint little tailor shop to have a few suits taken in as I had lost quite a bit of weight due to the fact that I had stopped drinking after her rant that I was drinking too much. I really wasn’t but that’s another story.

“I had recently taken a new job involving law enforcement and would pass a little shop on my way to work. As I would pass by, I began to feel increasingly compelled to stop. It was not the tailor I had previously used and to whom I planned to bring my suits, but I decided to stop anyway.”

Inside the shop, Marlowe found a “gaggle of women talking.” One of them was wearing a turban, had a Caribbean complexion, and was holding a small dog on a leash. Everything about the dog suggested it needed to get outside “to the nearest fire hydrant.” Since the other women were ahead of him, Marlowe volunteered to walk the dog. When he was back inside, the turbaned shop owner asked him to wait with his suits until she could get to him.

“Finally alone I told her what I needed and then she did a curious shuddering double-take and in non-sequitur fashion asked me in what month I was born. Now mind you, this shop advertises nothing but tailoring and mending services. I told her my birth month and this complete stranger says to me: ‘Your wife has been pushing you away. She was abused as a child and she has been holding this inside for some time. She feels you are getting too close and wants to hurt you before you get a chance to hurt her.'”

“Well, for the next 90 minutes she gives me details about my situation and myself that no other person in the world would know. She also told me that my two brothers-in-law, whom I consider my brothers, both good people, were also hurt when they were young.

“I left the shop dumbfounded, in a daze. I did not confront my wife, but I have sadly confirmed that her mother was highly abusive from the day my wife was born. This broke my heart and I haven’t been the same person since. I started therapy eight months ago to try and get my head around this whole life-altering saga.

“Now the synchronicity does not end there. At about the same time I took my new job as a local prosecutor, my wife entered the workforce as a child counselor at a local crisis center. Neither of us ever had such experience before nor did we ever consider these job sectors. It was out of economic need and these were the only jobs available after a two-month search. As it unfolded, one of my first cases was prosecuting a defendant who allegedly abused his young daughter. Now who do you think was assigned to this poor child as a counselor? Yup. My wife.

“I will leave this story here and offer something I have learned and then leave everyone with some questions. Many believe that emotional and psychological abuse is the most insidious and damaging form of childhood abuse.

“Now my questions. What would you do in my place? Would you act on this knowledge? Intervene constructively and try and help your loved ones in pain? Or just sit on the information believing it was just for your understanding. Last, as indicated in my subject line, was my visit to the seamstress a fantastical synchronistic event, God in the Machine, or was it both?”

In a followup e-mail, Marlowe told us that his wife has changed jobs and is now a counselor at an elementary school one block from the tailor’s shop. He has returned to see the tailor, who wants to help his wife.

“She has filled me in on much more very sad information, all of which I have confirmed independently. This woman is truly spiritual and an angel on earth as I have witnessed her personally healing and transforming strangers who enter her shop with an item or two of clothing. She also has a parade of regulars who come in always with a look of awe and expectant serenity on their faces. She tells me that my wife needs to come see her so that she can “flush” this evil thing that has been tormenting her whole life.”

Unfortunately, his wife refuses to visit the tailor.

“She derides me for believing a ‘witch doctor’ yet is scared to death to visit her with me. You have to remember intense guilt, shame, self-loathing and absolute secrecy have been instilled in abused children their whole lives.”

– Marlowe’s Ghost

A sad story…but Trish and I want to meet the tailor!
